First oil change too late at 5k

I picked up my frs last month. Just got really busy with work and forgot to change the oil. I didn't rev higher than 3k during the break-in period.
But it's at 5.3k now. I'm going in for an oil change this weekend. Do you think i've damaged the engine?
:bonk:

ryoma 09-25-2015 12:02 AM

doubt it. don't they tell you to come back at 5k? 300 over isn't gonna hurt anything.

TheVoiceOfReason 09-25-2015 12:15 AM

No. You could go another 2k miles without issue. The first oil change scheduled used to be 7500 miles for 2013's. It has been reduced to 6k for 2015's even though nothing really changed in the engine. Really nothing to worry about at 5.3k.

aegisdrgn 09-25-2015 12:16 AM

Not a problem. The factory fill is very good oil. If you don't believe me, look through all the used oil analysis that people posted here:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13286

This is my report with a 4.2k mile test (factory fill) and 5.7k mile test (first free oil change at dealership), you can see that Blackstone has no problem with the results, and even recommends running more miles because the TBN shows plenty of active additives left.

You're over thinking it. As long as there oil and its full it's ok for +100k. It's not recommended but it's better than nothing.

EAGLE5 09-25-2015 03:44 AM

Throw the car away. It's a total loss.

OkieSnuffBox 09-25-2015 07:16 AM

Not a problem at all.

Not above 3k RPMs for 5k+ miles? Ugh. I think my car had a tune at 400 miles.

raven1231 09-25-2015 07:39 AM

Seriously?

Guru Woodman 09-25-2015 08:46 AM

I'm not sure of this is seriously too... but Canadian cars have the first scheduled maintenance at 10000 km, which is 6200 miles...

Not revving past 3k lol

drewbot 09-25-2015 09:00 AM

Rekt

murdoc 09-25-2015 09:03 AM

I can't think of a better way to make me hate driving my car than never revving over 3k.

Though I guess once you've finished break-in it's like getting a free 100whp upgrade, haha.

Just realized you're in the GTA. 5300 km is nothing man....

orangespark 09-25-2015 09:27 AM

Thanks guys. I was gonna take the car to a wreck if not for your replies :)

Tcoat 09-25-2015 10:00 AM

Tcoat ....... DO NOT change the oil now!

Your car's ECU has adjusted the engine to work with acidic sludge ....... and if you change it ...... the engine will fly apart ....... :eyebulge:

Sort of like the old days, if you had always run with non-detergent oil and all of a sudden you put in detergent oil …….. the engine would start knocking and leaking …… :sigh:

Nope, still 7500 or 7.5 months on my 2015.

Oh god I remember doing exactly that. Change to detergent oil and every gasket, seal and even the rings let loose. Blue smoke and puddles everywhere. Three or four cans of STP stop leak would fix you right up for anther 100K miles though.

YES, by draining the oil onto the driveway, it keeps down the dust.

Dust creates a condition that enhances mite proliferation, mites feed on beneficial plants, including trees, which weakens and can kill them.

So there, tree huggers ......

Sorry. I meant Subaru shortened the interval to 6k. Scion left it alone at 7.5k.

The older the better. After that, it gets derivative.
