AutoDip

So who here has tried Autodip??

It's new. I havent seen much coverage about it. I was going to try it for my roof but never really got around to it and then I ended up vinyl wrapping it at a local 86 meet that we had.

Thoughts?? I think it'll be revolutionary. It's basically spray on vinyl. It doesn't turn out matte like how plasti-dip does.

I think once this become more popular people will begin to wrap/paint their whole car with this stuff.

Autodip- The Game Changer
By Karla Real
Plasti dip, we have all thought about it at one point. Does it look good? No. Does it stay on long? No. Here at the SEMA show we were able to talk to Mathieu Di Veta President of AutoDip -the world’s first premium peelable automotive paint.
“Autodip is a peel-able premium synthetic paint developed specifically for the automotive application” Di Veta told CSJ. Autodip allows you to customize accessories, protect wheels, and even full bodies without damaging the original finish.
When CSJ talked to Di Veta he told us how they had tested this product on a new BMW M3 with over 6 finishes and after peeling the AutoDip off the car, the original paint was still immaculate. This is a new product that has not yet hit the market and it is going to be a game changer. The affordable prices and the variety of colors will make this a very strong option for all of us tuner heads.

WOW, this is badass! im so going to try this instead of plastidip!
it says 2 cans does 4 wheels so basically its the same price as buying 4 cans of plastidip, so not a bad deal!

8R6 09-22-2015 05:02 PM

i really wanted to do this but they dont have pearl white :( im able to make an almost perfect match of pearl white with plastidip mixes to my whiteout but not enough gloss :(

Post pics in this thread if you do decide to do it!

Is the only difference the gloss opposed to the matte finish of plasti dip?

They offer matte, gloss, and metallic finishes.

The dip works really well on wheels. I will be doing a review video on the product for potential buyers in the coming weeks. Should be going over what the product applies best on for amateur sprayers and what takes a little extra "experience".

I wanna know the longetivity of this. Being relatively new, it's hard to tell if it retains it's shine over the drive

Don't know why you're bothered by that, but I changed it to an ellipsis. Now, what's your relationship with autodip? It's really hard to tell the difference between advertisement and genuine enthusiasm on the internet.

I have no connection with the company. I believe I stated in my first post that I was interested in the product and I was looking to see what other people's experiences were with this product.

It's a new product and I'm curious is all.:D
Not a advertiser. Not my cup of tea

How's the texture? Rough?Smooth? Also, if I use a powerwasher to clean my car wil it withstand the pressure? Where are you guys ordering it from? I went to the official website and they are already out of matt black. Thanks!

soulreapersteve 09-23-2015 04:09 AM

This looks much better than plasti-dip. If I didn't buy a hot lava, I would use this to get it pink...

Separate beater project car?? :D

(I like pink, what can I say lol)

EzyBrzy 09-23-2015 05:01 AM

It's only like 45ish bucks for 2 cans which is enough for four 17in wheels. Doesn't hurt to actually just try it. I might do my stock wheels gloss black.

Myv 09-23-2015 05:06 AM

Interested in the texture as well, plasti-dip is nice but attracts dust/dirt like crazy. It gets dirty easily especially on the wheels. Cleaning is a bit of a pain too, but I should really just get a soft brush).

If you do a heavy coat in the end, it will be a smooth texture. Power washing is a little iffy depending on the pressure. I just use a garden hose to spray it down and a microfiber to wipe it. Thats all it takes to clean - I would say its one of my favorite part of having the wheels autodip'd

BDotG 09-23-2015 12:24 PM

Any intention of this coming in full gallon cans for doing a full car?

Here is another image of the Metallic Bronze. I have not altered the color in any way. Maranello Red was used on the GT-R wing.

@BDotG
They will probably unveil their full car program at SEMA this year.

I've only had it on the wheels for a month, but it looks like its still holding strong. They say its supposed to last 2 years without any fade.

I might be picking some of this up soon to do a couple of parts gloss black (space between the "fangs" on the front bumper) to match my gloss black vinyl roof and compare how they look

In for pics! I might do my OEM wheels if it will be a nice gloss black. How does this stuff hold up to cleaning? I clean my car almost every other day in the summer

I guess I will let you know how it is when I get it and how it holds up. If it turns out to be pretty good I might redo my vinyl roof with that stuff. Because I have a very, very small crease in my vinyl just because we were learning how to do the vinyl at our roof wrapping party. So it's not a huge deal to me but if this auto-dip stuff looks exactly like vinyl and holds up great then it might be the replacement for anything vinyl oriented I would want to do to my car.

I dont think they recommend using their spray cans for doing bigger body sections like the roof.

Thats also why I was going to test it on something other than wheels.

Yeah that would be sweet! I am sold on this stuff I think. I will be doing my OEM wheels as part of the OEM wheel build I am doing lol!! I just need to pick a good color. I wonder how metallic black will look on hot lava? Too bad I have to wait till spring this year to order

No, we do not recommend using Autodip Do-It-Yourself Aerosols to cover your hood, roof or your whole car as the surface is too large to evenly apply Autodip.
They do not recommend the aerosols because of even-ness. I bet you if you got the stuff in a gallon with a spray gun it would be good.
