http://www.ft86club.com/forums/third/car3.png
FT86CLUB Homepage Featured Story On this episode of Epic Drives, Associate Online Editor Nate Martinez tours Japan's greatest driving roads in Subaru's new rear-wheel drive BRZ coupe. Along the way, he tears up the Toyo Tires Turnpike, climbs Mount Fuji, dances down the hairpins of the Nihon Romantic Highway and drops the hammer at the tight and twisty Gunma Cycle Sports Center. What a great way to start the morning with this vid. AWESOME!
Edit: Just finished watching it. It almost brought a tear to my eye. I'll do this someday... |
Wow! Awesome drives! Driving up to Mt. Fuji, and going on Best Motoring (Subaru R&D track) touge battle would be awesome. :thanks: Awesome morning BRZ pron!

Awesome video
Incredible video. So much passion you can almost smell it.
Jealous doesn't begin to cover how I feel about that drive!!
The video kept getting better and better!
Cool vid,.. thanks for sharing ;]
Silver does look nice on the BRZ....
was that galaxy blue silica at the beginning? also this video was so fucking awesome!
Great vid. I'm beginning to like the look of the BRZ without the drl led strip. With it, it seems crowded and unnatural to the flow of the front end.
Nice. So very, very nice <snif>.
My God the sound of that engine!....
That was beautiful!
Great video but...
Extremely well done video but I wish the host was a little less dull. I know he meant what he said but he lacked any panache or oomph as a host. I really was hoping for some more aggressive driving at the course or at Irohazaka... then again, I may have been spoiled with all the PR stuff Ken Gushi and the like have been doing for Scion/Toyota.
Seeing the drift marks on that mountain road = :happyanim:

If only Chris Harris was the host ... awesome script/storyline but dull host |
It is really hard to explain what this car means to Toyota, Subaru, and Japan in general. Japan has gotten their asses handed to them in more ways than one over the years. The economy has gone to shit, Korea is beating them at their own game, the population is getting older, and the younger generation does not have the same passion to lead the world in industry. Not to mention the twin disasters of the earthquake and nuke meltdown. This car represents a "get back to basics" effort for the whole country. To prove that they can still built the extremely well engineered cars at an affordable price. Ford can have their powerful mustang, and Korea can have their rough draft sports car, but neither one has as much thought and attention to driving dynamics as the 86. It is classic Japanese motoring.

It's obvious that a script is being read back to us. It's a long clip with apparently substantial production and editing that went into it. The only problem I and, I think, many of us have is we're spoiled by the likes of Chris Harris, Tiff Nedell, and Jeremy Clarkson feeding us witty remarks for the sake of entertainment. But this narrator gives us his personal account for the sake of sharing information. And he does it in average Joe fashion; a bit forced and lacking penache/perfection. I didn't pay anything to see this awesome clip so I can't complain about the guy sharing his story with us. And his style works because it was straightforward and genuine and I was better able to identify with him.

Watching the video, I immediately started to miss Japan.
what a great video thank you :)
just epic great video
I liked the video and overall thought the host did a good job, he was obviously knowledgeable and passionate about the car and JDM... but come on, couldn't he have swung the back end around through at least ONE of those hairpins!?!?! Watching that mountain pass was painful.

As the first BRZ owner in Ottawa and a life long JDM fan this video was perfect. It was humble, beautiful and intelligent. Much like Japan itself. I haven't been there yet but this winter will be my first visit. My plan is to rent a BRZ, drive to Niseko, and ski at highway speeds through forests that only grow one place on earth. The cherry on top would be to meet a beautiful bilingual Japanese girl at an MMA fight.
I may never come home. |
Man... this had so much potential... The host doesn't sound excited at all... combined with not one single clip of the car getting a little bit sideways... Okay I get that it's not his but maybe if Subaru PR has loaned him the car to do an epic video, maybe they can organise a professional driver to get it sideways for them.
Or find an owner willing to do it themselves in their own car. Was expecting more. Anyway - stunning roads and stunning scenery. Would love to visit it! |
Beautiful video, some shortfalls as mentioned above, but one of the few videos out there with lots of hd BRZ shots. Thanks!
that was one stupid boring video!
there was no conquering what so ever. |
two thumbs up and a huge grin (=
That video was simultaneously one of the the best I've ever seen, and one of the the worst I've ever heard.
