MODERATOR - Need for addition forum sections in AUS/NZ Area.
Starting a POLL vote for the moderators to see..
Please KEEP ON TOPIC and vote I believe there is a need for the AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND Sub forum to be further divided. I understand there is already sections implemented for these needs, but they are basically all for US/Canada Mod Shops & Parts, and in turn not relevant to our needs Some examples : - General Discussion - Mechanical - Exterior - Cruises These are just some idea's but I'm almost certain I'm not alone when I say our area is cluster f**ked with crap everywhere. |
I have sent a PM to Forum Administrator requesting him to monitor poll results.. So please have your say. Cheers guys

Just purchase your own board for locals IMO.
|
guys, IMO this forum is based in the US and to integrate other subforums for different countries might be a little tricky.
we do have a local Aussie forum where there will plenty of stuff going on in the coming months, we just had out first meet on Wednesday night @ Doncaster , VIC sign up @ www.ozft86.com.au lets support our local AU forums |
As I stated also in another thread, it is a cluster fuck in this sub category section. There is about 10 threads on the same topic also.
I agree and completely for the organization of this section. |

Plus we need more members on the AUS forums, so please join and support. |
Just a reference, this is how the Aussie's section of a US based golf forum is organised. I think something like this work well:

Good luck, I sent a pm to hachi a month ago now regarding just this..
We do need it |
And you never got a reply?
I really like to stay as it all started here but we may have to visit a local forum as well if this doesn't get the go ahead. |
I like this place :( the colour scheme is nice :P
If we cant get sub-forums, maybe just stickies? our current stickies arnt that useful anymore anyways, so it wouldnt clutter it up |
Oh I got a reply from the moderators, just not the admin, and hachis word is final.

Yep. Hence why I didn't respond in the other thread from a few weeks back :p
|
Poll seems a bit redundant, but yes some sub-sections would be nice!

Car is mechanically identical world wide so I hardly see why we need our own private sub forum for this. Same goes for exterior.
Any events can be handled with a sticky IMO. you want to sub divide the board for Aussies, make a dedicated Aussie site. |
I dont believe we need a tonne of subforums, but we do at least need a moderator who can merge threads as that seems to be the biggest issue. I agree that all social stuff is going to naturally be conducted on the aus forum and I dont see an issue with this since most of us here are over there anyway.
|
My idea was to have state specific sub forums for organizing cruises etc.. Makes it easier to see
|
Also with the way our road laws work its probably best to have a separate mod section, something road legal in the US isn't necessarily road legal here
|
I love the simplicity of ft86club.com, I have been a member here for quite some time as-well, just reading other users experiences etc.
The sub forums should more so cover: General Technical/Mechanical Interior/Exterior Projects Cruises (each state should have a seperate sub forum) That is all that is really required. Maybe a for sale for parts etc aswell. |
I don't think we need tech forum here. We need a sub forum for meet and one for buy/sale/group buy and that's enough.
I don't agree with 1 subforum per state as that's too many. Many aussie forums only have 1 subforum for all events across Australia. The most recent events will always be on top (or sticky them) and u don't really have lots of events happening at the same time per state. |
Then we perhaps just need a dedicated moderator? As we can then just sticky stuff

Excluding cruises and maaaaybe projects, there is nothing on your list that isn't better posted in the worldwide subforums that already exist for such topics. When posting information or initiating discussion about the car, you want to share this with the largest audience possible. Having a mechanical or an exterior section for Aussies only just further fragments your audience and reduces participation or the chance of getting your question answered. However with buying parts or organizing meets, you want to fine tune your coverage to a smaller audience. The au/nz subforum is satisfactory for news and general stuff. A simple stickied thread for each state would cover events and the inevitable "spotted" posts. At the very most, a "for sale" forum is maybe worthwhile, but in my opinion the localized stuff may be better suited to the other Australian forum floating around. |
No reply yet folks... Ill give it a few more days before I try contact Admin again
