Car Stereotypes
 

I know there are several threads on this forum about stereotypes people encounter such as the "come race me bro" or even 86 stereotpyes such as "shit 86 owners say"

But what about a thread for all car stereotypes??

Muscle, import, 86, euro, japanese, supercar, pruis driver's etc.

Anything that comes to mind when you hear a certain brand or type of car.

Name the stereotypes!

All Range Rover's are owned by suburban housewives, and you will never actually see one roving across a range.

I'll take the low hanging fruit....


V6 Mustang Convertibles are all owned by suburban housewives (when not driving their Range Rover).


Miatas are all owned by hair dressers, unless being used for racing of course...

Camry drivers are slow but also unpredictable idiots. Corolla drivers are Camry drivers in training.

All lifted trucks are owned by dumb rednecks

Seriously I see more truck "rice" then actual import "rice".

The crazy exhausts, stupid lift kits, light bars, HIDs that blind the f*ck out of you, stupid looking studded wheels.

Now, to be fair, most of the Rednecks I know wash their truck almost immediately after going out for a good mud session, usually on the way home and don't wear it like a badge of honor. Same is true for their (OK my) ATVs. Don't won't that crap (and sometimes that literally what it is) hardening up too much you know.

Subaru owner don't care cuz mud protect their paint........it's like mud spa :D lol

To expand on that, there was a study done a couple years ago that actually found that people who drove luxury vehicles in general tended to drive with a more "entitled" mindset (read: like assholes). Gender, race, age, didn't matter. So its not to much a stereotype as a half-truth.

My BMW is driven and treated just like my other cars. Hell it's worth less than my Toyotas and my truck.

I read something like this too. And apparently Lexus owners are the worst behind beemers

Hence why I said "half-truth"--not everyone is that bad. But there is proof that its not just anecdotal evidence driving that viewpoint.

Scion is a brand for hipsters and posers

Prius owners all immediately move to the fast or carpool lane and drive 5 to 10 miles per hour under the posted speed limit. They also like to pace drivers next to them without cause or concern and NEVER check their surroundings in any scenario. :popcorn:

I drove a buddy's 1982 7-series once and no one had the decency to get out of my way! Idiots...! :(

I think it's really because those "image" focused and/or entitled people feel that they "deserve" something "better" so they buy a luxury brand to make others know of their "status".


So basically, the problem is the people, not the brand. :)

My comment is both about the vehicle and the people who buy them.
There is one or two models of trucks being sold in Australia that seem to come standard with low profile tyres or maybe it is just the owners putting these low profile tyres on after purchasing the vehicle.. They look really low profile to me. I can't get my head around this. It isn't even trying to look functional. I think the vehicles are 4wd but you would run the risk of denting your rim if you were to drive over a 10 cent piece.

I'm guessing yours doesn't fall into the luxury category anymore...

It's more luxurious than anything else I've owned ;)

I would concur...

Lately at night i've seen prius drivers passing me on the freeway even if im doing 80! there was 1 night I've seen a couple of them and they zoomed passed me and then raced each other after that. Like wtf?? u drive a prius...

Ironically, at that point they actually are getting worse gas milage than conventional cars :lol:

A Miata is a chick car.

It seems to me a great douchebag car is the 1990's foxbody mustang. Straight pipe exhaust, faded paint, wanting to race only on the highway, otherwise just revving that 5.0 tired liters of fury at all other imports.
