Are there options for different core colors?

tinma 09-15-2015 03:29 PM

so how would I go about buying the Delrin cover if I already have the core?

Yes, we've powder coated the cores for some other customers. It needs to be treated as a custom powder coating job because we need to mask sections of the core off so the cover can still thread on.

Send me an email (info@raceseng.com) and I can show you the color options and price.

Thanks!

Thank you guys... I appreciate these comments. I'm trying my little heart out over here!

Are you still working on the leather cover for the hybrid core that you posted on the shift knob thread?

tracerit 09-15-2015 08:30 PM

How does the size compare to the stock knob? It looks slightly larger diameter wise.

I had the Slammer and liked the smoother shifts and loved the metal clunk sound when lifting the Raceseng reverse lockout. But I then realized my hand enjoyed the stock shift knob every other week for its size, grip and control. This one looks like it'll fit the bill but I'm gonna hold out for a Raceseng alcantara Ology knob :P

Fastbrew 09-15-2015 09:05 PM

Yeah but my Ashiko helps dissipate heat from the engine bay!

EzyBrzy 09-15-2015 09:22 PM

How about a leather or Alcantera cover?

weederr33 09-15-2015 09:50 PM

Ugh. I got all excited that this was the announcement for the leather wrapped knob

CSG Mike 09-15-2015 10:09 PM

ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Saw these on the website for a while but cool to see them again here. I have been lurking waiting for the release of the leather sphereology like some others. Even if that never comes out the sphereology is better in feel and looks around the lip than the Topology; it is nice that you got the profile lower.

Was curious if the "..ature" cores would work with the "...ology" bases? Perfect knob for me would be a leather sphereology because I like the feel of a ball shifter, leather and the look, and because the base on the "...ology" series is better, but I would change the outside to be concave like the "...atures" series is, which has a smooth lipless transition, and lastly, I would want a core powdercoated the same color as the lockout.

8R6 09-16-2015 01:47 PM

thats a pretty damn cool idea

This is 2 1/8" in diameter... I'm not sure what the OEM shift knob diameter is. Ours was thrown out after the Slammer was installed!

I really tried to tuck the ball shaped profile as tightly as I could to the top dome shape of the core.

Ture and Ology covers are NOT interchangeable.

Keep in mind that the reverse lockouts are anodized and the shift knobs are powder coated. They are 2 totally different processes that will not yield the same look or finish.

Awesome! Hopefully it's sphere shaped as well.

DustinS 09-16-2015 02:49 PM

If I hadn't just gotten a shift knob as a present, I would be all over this.

I may buy one anyway, and switch them before the girlfriend rides in the car... hmm

Looks amazing!! Keep up the great work.

Yea you did a great job. Still looking forward to the leather release! And good to know about the color differences. Ever consider selling a lockout in a raw state too?

We used to see a clear anodized reverse lockout and it didn't sell well... So we dropped it.

Irace86 09-17-2015 12:27 AM

Understandable. Gotta do what makes sense for business. Just curious, why Is one product powdercoated and the other anodized? Is it because of tolerances?

Simple, stainless steel can't be anodized.

Irace86 09-17-2015 11:31 AM

Gotcha. Thanks

Regarding the leather wrap that's in the works, do you anticipate it'll be an interchangeable cover that'l swap onto the current offerings? I really want to buy one of these, but I know I'll want leather later on...

Maybe in a future generation of these if you decided a perfectly round sphere or smooth, flush top was ideal then you could have the core pertrude from the cover or notch the core at the top. Im sure a smooth transition would feel like butter on the hand or thumb.

rjsf 09-23-2015 09:13 PM

I received my Sphere cover today. The quality is great, as expected! My hands are on the small side and IMO it feels a lot better than the giant Top cover that I was previously using.

Also, I think the pictures exaggerate the protruding lip of the cover along the dome of the core. You can barely feel the lip when you actually hold the shift knob from the top.

I'll keep using this Sphere cover until the leather wrapped cover is released and then Raceseng can take my money again.

Do you have a stock knob next to it that you can use for a comparison?

It's not much bigger than the stock knob diameter wise, but it is significantly taller because of the length of the weighted core (about 3/8 inch taller). I hope this helps.
