you could probably find more 86 friends by visiting your regional portion of the sub forums. Then just attend a local meet.

continuecrushing 09-15-2015 04:39 PM

so all your friends have cars that are faster than yours?

lol jk

So op make friends based on what they drive?

ToySub1946 09-15-2015 07:14 PM

Did you see this video...posted elsewhere ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLPx...ature=youtu.be

What he says towards the end: 'If you're so confident with yourself, don't care what others think of you'...The FRS is for you.

And that's just how I think. However, if current friends are ranking on you, then, as you state, may wanna find new friends who appreciate more the passions you have. And possibly you'll find them, near you, from this forum...Hope you do.

Current population of Boston about 655,000.

S84kam 09-15-2015 07:26 PM

none of my close friends have FRS/BRZ or even sports cars. Doesn't matter, makes me feel slightly more special. Everyone usually is intrigued by it, so its a good conversation/topic at get togethers/parties.

Packofcrows 09-15-2015 07:32 PM

you're too far.

My only problem with 86 friends is that they drive like complete retards going full retard at a retarded speed in a retarded town. They drive the 86 like a Corvette zoom zoom

So when I drive by the popo or the station, sometimes I get tailed for 2-3 miles.

Time to start a neighborhood watch program I guess.

Yep, that's pretty much most of the 86 owners around here.

NWFRS 09-15-2015 09:35 PM

I get along just fine with people who have an APPRECIATION of cars in general.

I just can't handle the ones who drive a POS then preach about how thrifty they are. These people usually lack all appreciation for art and history. "Anyone who drives a sports car clearly didn't get enough attention as a child".

I've got no time for those people.

I did.

daiheadjai 09-16-2015 11:15 AM

I got a friend to take out a lease on a BRZ. Chalk one up for the bad guys.

Sideways 09-16-2015 11:21 AM

None of my friends drive BRZ either!! But I'm ok with it as it makes me the cool one in the group...lol

MokSpeed 09-16-2015 11:22 AM

I actually prefer it that way OP. The group of regulars I hang out with consists of a S2000, CTS-V, IS300, 2.0T GenCoupe, C5 Vette, Neon SRT4, Mazda 6, G35, and myself.

chezplatypus 09-18-2015 01:51 PM

The town I live in has about 70,000 people. Plenty of sports cars, but I've only seen one other 86, another FR-S in Ultramarine, same as mine. I was in my other car so I really couldn't get his attention... hell it could have been someone taking mine for a joyride!
It's fun having something unique, but it's a bit lonely when you're cruising alone all the time!

Super_Scion_86 09-18-2015 03:14 PM

I kinda like being the only 86 owner out of my friend group. Car diversity is nice, especially when there are more than 2 people going in the same car.

mikool 09-18-2015 03:29 PM

My friends that don't know much about cars think I drive an exotic car.
"Never heard of Scion before, how much was it?"
"Don't worry about it ;)"

sdemo 09-18-2015 03:48 PM

All of my friends nicknamed me Mr. Impractical because of the cars I drove (two Mazda3 hatches on coils with 245s that rubbed occasionally, then NA Miata, now BRZ).

They drive A4s, IS Fs, Maximas, etc. What do they know?

Tcoat 09-18-2015 09:52 PM

All my friends drive pick up trucks (some even use them to pick up stuff)
I received this from one of them:

The sad part is they missed the fact that I also despise country music with a passion.

That would be better but they don't even drive anything like that but it would be cool to meet some other 86 owners in Boston

It is known that here in the PNW, you get your choice of an FRS or BRZ issued with your driver's license.

GhostRai 09-19-2015 01:11 AM

Unless your friends talk about doing powerslides (as in stamping the throttle mid corner so their TC light comes on and hear awful screeching noises) and think 3M carbon fiber wrap looks good throughout the entire dash...you're fine. My friends don't have particularly nice cars either, but we all share a similar outlook on what kind of cars we would drive or how they should be modified.

bcj 09-19-2015 02:02 PM

I make a concerted effort not to remember any country songs at all.

I have no clue why it is still here and not moved to off topic anyway. Surprisingly not the OP's worst either.
Somebody had to take Squady's place I guess.

It is generally related to the 86. On topic enough for me. I approve.
