There's been a few threads Houston related, but I don't think I saw one that was an official Houston thread so I thought I'd start one.

So hey everyone! I picked up my 6AT Whiteout FRS tonight!! Pretty excited about it. How many others in the Houston area have one? I know I've seen a few here on the forum.

and begin discussion....GO!

I'm going ahead and adding you guys to this first post to just keep a list of all of us in the Houston area. So if everyone could give there transmission, color, and where and when you purchased it?

6AT Hot Lava, I picked mine up 6/8 at Gullo Toyota in Conroe. I love this car and know that you will enjoy it as well.

6MT Asphalt, picked it up 6/18 lovin it also.

that's awesome! we've all got different colors so far, and i'm foreseeing a meet up in the future for some pictures. haha

i think i'll go ahead and update the first post as to how many of us there are here in the Houston area.

and FrX, yours was the first FR-S I had ever seen. The one that came in at Sterling Mccall.

Anyone purchase from Fred Haas on 45N? I took a pic of it in the parking lot as I walked to the parts shop to pick up some TRD springs. Beautiful! I am jealous.

If y'all want to take some pics we are having a meet tonight starting at 5:30. We're actually planning to re-dyno our shop FRS now that break in is done (2500 miles) and see where we are power wise, and we are going to be raffling off 3 power pulls, and a T shirt as well.

There actually is a Houston Tread. Started about 2 years ago before it was officially announced as a Scion. So the title might be a little off.

also, I ran into another 6AT Whiteout today on Westheimer. Asked, but he's not on the forums. It was pretty cool having both of us turning heads as we had fun down Westheimer :thumbup:

Finally I saw another one. Didn't follow them but it was a firestorm.

Live in La but moving to Houston soon as I am now working in Deer Park/La Porte. Any subie meets in the area? Also up for meets in Humble since thats mainly where I'm house hunting.

I actually live in La Porte. The only meets you will get in the DP/LP area is Big trucks that high school parents bought for them or Camaro/Mustangs. Your best bet for import meets is gonna be in houston. There use to be a Car meet at the Target in kemah where all sorts of cars would show up, but the last time i went was about four years ago so idk if they still have anything there.

Also BRZ limited MT SWP. Got it 6/9 from Gillman Subaru North. Mine wasn't going to be in until August and was lucky to get the call that someone backed out.

That sucks but thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll have to hit up Cars and Coffee meets to find some people.

My salesman was Mike LeRoy (or Le-Roy?). Not sure why you didn't get the call. I told him what color, trans. and trim I wanted and asked him to call me if anyone backed out. He mentioned he'd already called quite a few people and I asked him nicely to stop and raced up there before anyone else got there.

Paid MSRP, as promised by Mike. Really friendly people and can't really think of a single complaint.

I have a Raven MT that I got from Star Toyota on 5/28. Havent seen anyone else out and bout, but I shall be looking.

Thanks! i assume i didnt get a call because it wasnt the color that i had ordered :bonk: I have a different salesman, but he had also promised me MSRP, but having a forum members confirmation is much better than a dealers :D

My A/C at my condo went out, and it will cost me the $6k to replace. So, there is a DGM BRZ Limited Manual available at Gillman Southwest that is coming in 2-3 weeks. The only option I added was the auto dimmer on the rear view mirror.

Idea...don't spend it on A/C stick it out for 2 months or 3 months (maybe less cause optimisim is awesome) and then get ur BRZ when u get hot take a ride in it. Problem solved!

I already tried one week, and it was the hottest week this year. I'll probably get it in a couple of years when they bump up the hp.

Any chance I can grab that spot from you, and do you know if it will be for MSRP? Everyone I've spoken to has told me 5-6k above.

Before I got my FR-S I was constantly on this forum, and since I've gotten it I've been MIA. haha, having too much fun with the car :)

havnt seen any subaru dealership on the blacklist in the houston area. who has been telling you 5k over msrp? as for FR-S champion scion told me they are selling at msrp when i went to check it out last month.

looking for an FR-S in houston area. from the list, it looks like each person bought theirs from a different dealer. :)

are there any dealers i should avoid (i.e., dealers that mark up)? also, what's a fair price? is everyone paying MSRP?

I paid MSRP (under actually, due to the grad discount). You shouldn't really pay more.

I bought a Firestorm Manual FR-S on June 1 from Tegler Toyota (the first official day!). Really love the car and am looking forward to autocrossing the FR-S once I get back from Australia. I won't make Coffee and Cars this weekend but should make the one in August.

bought my Argento AT on 6/26 from Classic Auto Group in Galveston. Friendly, laid back group there. It's a bit of a drive from Katy but after my wife called every other dealer in the greater Houston area, they're the ones that had what I wanted. Community Scion in Baytown had a couple of Whiteouts, one MT, one AT, come in last week too, but I thought I'd rather have Argento. After I saw it I knew I'd thought right

Check with Community Scion in Baytown. The week before last they had a MT Whiteout and an AT Whiteout. The AT sold that Saturday. They got two more in (whiteouts) the following Tuesday (26/6), last week. They were good at following up with me.

CJ at Classic Auto Group in Galveston was a great guy to work with. Very easy going and friendly. Of course, there's no haggling on price, full MSRP, so that makes it very non-confrontational anyway. The finance lady was also extremely nice and got me 1.99% financing. Couldn't beat that. And taxes in Galveston are 6.25% instead of 8.25% - so saved like $500 in taxes which made it well worth the drive out there.

When I was getting ready to leave, CJ took the car to fill up the gas tank at the dealer's pump, but then returned right away. He said he had forgotten that the pump was regular only and he didn't want to mess up the car. So he asked me to get in the car and we drove to an Exxon where he filled it with premium. I really appreciated him having the snap to catch that and caring enough to do it right. Anyway, very nice car-buying experience overall.

I'm not positive but I think CJ mentioned that they would be getting another one in this month. You might give him a call and ask.

thanks for the suggestions. not a fan of the white, but i'll call community scion anyway. i'm not in a hurry. if i can find one before the end of the year i'll be happy.

I have my FR-S. I also have a WRB 6MT BRZ on order which I will not be buying. its up for grabs. Price quoted is MSRP+TTL. PM me.

I got a M/T question for you houston drivers. Did most of you choose M/T even though we have terrible rush hours here? also when your sitting on an overpass during traffic, do you use handbrake acceleration or just slip the clutch and try to stay stationary.
