FRS Turbo, Supercharger or none? Trying to get 300HP.

I know its been ask a million times but this might be a little different.

2015 FRS AUTOMATIC (Yes! its A/T)
Currently done:
Suntek full hood, bumper, fenders.
Opti coat.
TRX Exhaust system.
CAI or Drop in filter this weekend.

(My current goal)
Make this car hit 300 horsepower and keep it running for a long time.

I need help to where I want to use the car for daily use work to home vice versa, also with a little bit of fun on the freeway.

Ive been reading about turbo and super chargers in the forums for the last 3 weeks since i bought the car.

Super charger or Turbo: If i get this (around 6,000-8000) including tuning and other stuff needed. Throwing 8k can be done but the only thing thats holding me back is that will it shorten the life of the engine.

BOLT ON UPGRADES & ECU TUNE & CAI: I know its a long shot to get to 300 horse with the options above but it is possible?

All your inputs and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Jackson Racing Super Charger, Flex Fuel kit, Injectors, pump, custom tune.

you're welcome :burnrubber:

Ahhhh come on Man
Read http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=78
Or if you have read and have specific questions at least think them through and ask in the right place. You are not new here.

Ok so now this in the right place and my post just looks silly.

You will need forced induction to get there however there are plenty of reliable options. Tuning is the most important variable to minimize the possibility of breaking something.

Your selection should be based upon where you want how much power at what RPM.

Full Blown or P&L turbo kit, injectors, fuel pump, new clutch, and custom tune. All in w/ labor will cost around $8,000. P&L doesn't get enough love around here, especially considering they were one of the few shops in the US that got a test mule BRZ before they were officially released.

This car makes about 160whp stock. You're asking to basically double that. Of course the engine will be at an increased risk for failure. Though with a proper install and tune, many people have very reliable daily drivers making 300whp. It's important to find a reputable shop to do all the work.

Also, because this is FT86Club, the rules dictate that I must make fun of you for making another turbo vs SC thread.

PS: NOS bottles in the cabin are pretty sweet I ain't gonna lie.

everything

Vortech V3, injectors, fuel pump, flex fuel and custom tune here. Car makes around 320HP and 250TQ on 10psi in the hot Phoenix AZ 115deg heat daily driven.

Keep reading or buy a Mustang.

I've been reading for 3 years and nobody can hand you a magic bullet to make you happy.

SBD V2 turbo kit and exhaust and you're there. no fuel pump, no injectors, no E85, and with the money you saved, you can get everything ceramic coated and polished up.
Spencer Fabrications has a pure sex twin scroll setup if you're looking for the most area under the curve at a given power level.

Haha! Not sure why but I for some reason thought that the OP was in California so I suggested the JR SC even though I'm running SBD V2 myself :bonk:

Some people just prefer to be CARB in CA so that's the first thing I jumped too lol

300 hp on stock injectors and fp? Good luck.

wootwoot 09-05-2015 05:19 PM

You're going to have to overnight some parts from Japan.

zigzagz94 09-05-2015 06:35 PM

I don't get why all these people come on here and say " I want 300hp".
300 hp is just a number and really meaningless. If I put them in a 280hp Jackson Racing Supercharged BRZ and told them it was 300hp they wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
Stop chasing arbitrary numbers. Look at your budget, research the FI forum, and buy the most reliable set up that you can afford.
There are a lot of good kits in your price range that will get you to about 280hp reliably.

chaoskaze 09-05-2015 06:57 PM

If you want keep it running for a long time, supercharger is a bit better.. 👍

Maybe you should swap for a turbo and move somewhere you can get 93 octane ;)

Elliryx 09-05-2015 10:49 PM

Thanks for the tips. I've been reading a lot lately and I looked at full blown and vortech still exploring options. I'll continue to read more before I make the final purchase.

CSG Mike 09-05-2015 10:51 PM

300 CRANK horsepower? Supercharger kit in CARB trim + 93 octane. Boom.

Lol as per my edit yes. Although I suspect it was Guff or Ichi that was responsible for the relocate not the op.

Elliryx 09-06-2015 02:15 AM

Right now looking at vortech or fullblown. Its my mistake shoulda read more. Vortech gives 260-275 whp with 7 or 9 psi I can't remember the response I got from them. Im just not mechanically incline just loves the frs and the only thing missing is more power. With vortech or fullblown it should keep me very happy. Thanks again for all the reply. I'll continue reading and will be posting updates and pictures on the turbo installation!
