This is to be expected though. All cars end up going down in price from the dealer lot after a few years. Maybe this will calm people down with the "its over priced" banter that some have about the car.

They dropped prices in the UK last year and it helped sales so it makes sense to try it here too. Also the exchange rate with the yen is favorable for American buyers.

FRS went up about what the BRZ went down so Toyota must be satisfied with the sales numbers.

$300.00....wow...i can see those lines now.

Seriously, you could walk into a subaru dealership today, tell them I'm buying the BRZ, but i want $300.00 off and they will sell it to you in a heartbeat.

Some dealers in Canada still have 2014 on the lot.

_______2015 ---> 2016
BRZ $26,490 ---> $26,190
FR-S $26,065 ---> $26,075

To the best of my knowledge and unless things changed the dealer in London refused quota on the 15s and 16s since the 14s sat so long.

That isn't fair. The Canadian ones FRS list went up way more than that.

That is a $300 decrease with a few added features in the car. It got a better info system and a back up camera. It ain't much but it is something.

But the back up camera is mandatory...it's not like Subaru gave it to us....the government forced them too haha

That doesn't mean that they can't charge for it. They are made to have 100s of safety devices but they sure aren't free.

True, didn't think of it that way

Remember the day when my dad was furious that he had to pay $30 more for a car because it was required to have seat belts.
It was one of the very first Jeep Cherokees to ever come off the line and had 4 miles on it. He drove it 2 blocks from the dealer and the engine seized solid. It didn't have a drop of oil in it and never had. All of a sudden he forgot all about that $30.

I've lost count of how many people have gotten mad at me because cars come standard with back up cameras and even requested to take it off so it'll be cheaper.

I guess I shouldn't have done that to your dad, but I didn't like the shirt he was wearing. So I taught him a lesson.

why? 08-30-2015 01:14 PM

The government really is the enemy all of the time.

Price drops? Sounds desperate. Talk about not knowing what they're doing! Subaru doesn't advertise the car -only their hippie 4WDs. Really, is lowering the price on a car you don't promote and people aren't buying going to make a difference??? Now is the time to refresh the appearance & add more horsepower since most equate all things sporty as bursting with hp. The general public doesn't understand the enjoyment of the driving experience with a car that's under 30k with great maneuverability (with pretty good milage too!). The few people that understand this purchase Miatas.

The 2016s BRZs do not have on-board navigation standard. They didn't 'drop the price', they removed a feature and adjusted the price accordingly.

(that said, StarLink is a fair sight better than the old Nav unit).
