GT5 new DLC to include FR-S

Thought this was pretty cool that the FR-S along with the GT86 will now be in GT5...would be even more awesome if they added the 5 Axis kit for the FR-S in the mod section.

The official Italian Gran Turismo website has just published new details about Gran Turismo 5‘s upcoming downloadable content.

As expected, Twin Ring Motegi will be coming to the game, including four different configurations: the Road Course, Super Speedway, East Course, and West Course. It will be available at a price of €5.00 (prices in other regions have not yet been confirmed).

The Scion FR-S, a variant on the Toyota 86, will also become available in the game at no cost. Stay tuned for more official information regarding release dates and international pricing soon. Thanks to all of you who sent this in so quickly!

Awesome! Thanks for the info =D
Though atm I'm seeing so much of Fuji from the world-wide GT Academy competition... I'd like to say I'm sick of it, but not until I get that winning time; so close to finals =P

should I get gt5? i think i should now!!

Want.FR-S 06-21-2012 05:27 PM

I wonder if they will model the torque dip in the middle section this time. The GT 86 torque curve in the game was like the concept one. Well, the good thing is that is free.

Motegi circuit should have been included in GT5 in the first place. It was there in GT4 and GT PSP.....

YES!!!

Asterisked Accolade 06-21-2012 06:11 PM

I wish Forza would get on the ball with this, as well.

SnapOv3st3r 06-22-2012 09:08 AM

Sorry for you Forza guys...Maybe GT has exclusive rights to the siblings...not sure.

Um...you've been able to get a Toyota 86 in GT5, here's mine. I logged in a couple month ago, and they just gave me the car!

mach330 06-22-2012 10:39 AM

Wasn't this available already? I won one a while ago in one of the races.

Tap'd from my G-Nex

If you won one it was either the 09 concept or the 2010 sports concept. The GT86 was free for everyone. Sounds like the FR-S will be the same.

The Toyota 86 GT '12 was added to the game in the 2.02 update. I live on Tsukuba Circuit with that car. The advantage of having the Scion FR-S in the game is that we will have the left-hand drive version of the 86.

Also, I am looking forward to see if they will allow forced-induction mods on this one. Not that it's necessary. The 86 already grabs 388hp N/A fully upgraded, lol...

Rampage 06-22-2012 12:03 PM

Yeah the GT86 has been in the game for a while and is good....almost two good. It can pretty much dominate from 406 up to 500. The factory torque is very unrealistic. Hopefully, the FR-S will be closer to the true car.

Don't get me wrong. I love the GT86 in game but I also feel it has a bit of an unfair advantage. Even more so than many of the other Japanese cars.

Time to get the driving seat and wheel back out for some laps!

SnapOv3st3r 06-22-2012 12:52 PM

Yes correct, the GT 86 has been around and so are all the other concepts except the Scion FR-S concept (which I would love to have that one too). They are releasing the Scion FR-S now to GT5 (wish they would have done the tC too), but at least now Scion has a name plate in GT with the FR-S. Would be really cool to see a 5Axis setup in the Aero department, and to see a variation in the mod options.

Now if Polyphony Digital can complete the trio and deliver the BRZ...

Probably just a matter of time, just like the Porsche pack. MY hope is they get the BRZ, but the FRS or GT86 is fine as well.

Ditto... actually, I wish for BRZ instead of FR-S, cuz GT86 is already there.

I think this.

SnapOv3st3r 06-26-2012 06:55 PM

About to download my FR-S...

Hanzo 06-26-2012 09:48 PM

Downloaded it, drove it, fun but where is my BRZ?

Bristecom 06-27-2012 12:18 AM

I think it is different from the 86. It doesn't seem to kick out as easily and the power band may be more accurate.

Want.FR-S 06-27-2012 01:17 AM

The torque dip is still not modeled. The torque curve is almost the same as that in GT 86. Well, the good thing is that it is LHD now.

ichitaka05 06-27-2012 01:27 AM

Did they add different aero kit for FR-S?

Maybe I need to turn on my PS3

Looks like the same aero kit as the GT 86, which is in my sig =P

Thanks for the info. Did you find anything different than GT86? Other than badge & LHD?

SnapOv3st3r 06-27-2012 12:46 PM

I bought an Asphalt and put a set of TE37's on it in white, put just the color matched lip kit...and damn it's so sexy. I will get a pic put up later.

It seems though it does drive a slightly different. It seems to have more mechanical grip, even with Comfort Hard tires on it. I left off the wing, power tuned a little over 300+hp and have TE37's and ground effect kit. DAMN is this thing a blast to drive. I put all the suspension parts, and left them untouched. So, no fine tuning on the coilovers, drop and what not. I only tuned the LSD. The tail comes around just enough and rotates perfectly. SUPER blast to drive at the Nurburg. You can stay on the throttle so much. Most cars if I were to dip a tire into the grass at the Burg, it's a done deal. This though, you dip a tire, I can stay WOT and just steer the fish tail out cause the steering is so responsive.

The bummer is though, that mod wise there is no difference than the GT86. Would have loved to seen a different body kit or maybe a S/C option.

As far as driving feel, I found no difference; I think they tried to keep the difference visual and LHD only like how it is IRL; One thing I did notice on the FR-S is sthat the headlights look smoked & not chrome at all; maybe they realized that's how it should have been IRL too haha; also, I thought the wheel gap looks a lot less in game than IRL stock, but looking at front bumper-to-ground gap, it's probably shadows playing tricks on me

rcm47 06-27-2012 01:47 PM

Are you able to add a turbo or supercharger yet?

SnapOv3st3r 06-27-2012 02:14 PM

Nope, no boost. Maybe it's in my head, but it did feel different driving to me.
