I found this on some Chinese website. Basically it goes over the stock antenna on the '13 models . It's only like $13

The radio reception with some shark fins can be sh*t. So, if you listen to FM radio I'd not use one. But, if you don;t listen to radio and it looks better than stock then why not. I have a modelista shark fin on my 86.

You also need to be careful with paint colour match.

The actual BeatSonic ones are essentially the same thing. I had one, and it worked great.

Teseo 08-28-2015 01:38 AM

Do it for cosmethic

Captain Snooze 08-28-2015 06:36 AM

Increases under steer. Too much yaw stability.

Same here, and I could tell no difference in AM/FM reception.

WhiteFRS69 08-28-2015 10:14 AM

i dont listen to the radio, i had poor reception before the shark fin.. save poor reception after the shark fin

i mainly did it because i thought the stock antenna was ugly!

Am I the only guy that would have swapped the shark fin for the original stock? Never liked the looks of the shark fin. The original is actually sort of unobtrusive and not so "look at me I am an antennae".

I got the beatsonic on a whim, but I like it better than the original, because I didn't care for the RC car look the OEM one had. I have thought about switching it back (it comes off easy enough) or painting black to match the car trim.

I have a '13 and I swapped the foot long antenna with a perrin 2in and biw it looks heaps better and like an RC car!

Does it use the same holes in the trunk as the stock one, or did you drill other holes for it?

Maaad86 08-28-2015 05:41 PM

I had to swap my trunk for a spoiler-less one and make new wholes and cut two of the bolts off the wing to make it work but it fits great @zman

If I was keeping the car more than 4 years I would probably go old school, shave the antenna right off the roof and go with a universal retractable just behind the passenger rear wheel well. You can get ones that are almost completely flush when retracted and get better signal reception than stock when extended.

I like the OEM sharkfin, the covers are quite a bit larger than OEM... Then again, I might be biased.

I'd actually be less concerned with reception (which is fine on my no-name sharkfin from FuzionTeknique ) and more concerned with the paint-match.

Rvb206 08-31-2015 12:59 AM

2016 frs OEM sharkfin can replace any frs antenna the price $189.00 from the dealer and it all metal with stock plug
