Wheel Directory: SSR SP1 18x9 +38

http://www.darrendriven.com/ft86/title.png

Just got some wheels for our shop FR-S. They are 3 piece SSR SP1

Sizing is 18x9 +38 with 255/35-18s all around.

This size is spot on! I will be changing the rear wheel sizing just a tiny bit but it's basically a great setup.

Now running Fortune Auto coilovers.

I took it to the track last weekend and decided it was time to start upgrading. It does great in stock form, but def could use a bit of help.

- Mainly with the tires and brakes. Well get to HP adders soon..........

Let me know what you think!!

It doesn't look too bad! I personally not a fan of polished lips on wheels. And what exhaust are you running since I only see a single exit?

Yea the wheels will be changed soon.

The exhaust is custom built by us. We will be releasing it for sale soon. Single exit cat back.

An pics of it straight on from the rear? Looks like it pokes out a little? I planed on getting 18*9.5 +38 in the rear. Just want to get an idea of how it's going to look

Is this a good fit that will clear the fenders?

It pokes out a tiny bit. If it was lowered it would need a bit of camber to sit in, which is what I will be doing.

Could you please post some more photos from these angles:

1. Front viewing the car longitudinally
2. Rear " "
3. Front at a slight angle as per 1.
4. Rear " " as per 2.
5. Close up of front and rear fenders showing rim & tyre

Cheers!

FreedE 06-22-2012 12:04 AM

Updated. Sorry, she's a lil dirty.

Does the rear go out past the fender?

It does a tiny bit. You can tell from the pics.

Matt Andrews 06-22-2012 12:59 PM

what tire is that? wondering if the section width is different than the one I tried (NT01). I would not have thought that a +38 would have worked without significant rubbing at full lock. to add to the picture requests, can you stick the camera back into the wheel well to take a picture of how much space you have between the tire and the spring?

near mexi

considering he's slightly poking here (which IMHO isn't 'spot on'), adding a 1/4" on both sides of your wheel isn't going to help you. Might rub on the inside too.

Perhaps it boils down to the tire, since this guy has 255's all around; if you stretch it might fit better

CoRi J 06-24-2012 12:12 AM

:coolpics:I think I'm the rare car enthusiast breed that is finding all of the customizations looking great on this car so far, I like the single exhaust idea on it!:respekt:

OldSkool86 06-24-2012 12:54 AM

Damn, looks like a roll and pull needed? Or gonna rub plenty sick...wheels look good tho

It is the nt555. I'm going to change the wheel barrels and tire sizing a bit. I'll get some pics for you.

There's definitely plently of room between the spring and wheel. No rubbing.

Smaller tires would work better, but I didn't want sunken fitment. After I lower it it will work out perfect. I'll post pics for you in the future. Tons of room in the rear for a 10" wide.

Thank you!! I personally love it. And you won't be able to beat this setup when it comes to cost and weight reduction when we release it for sale.

No pull needed maybe a slight roll. Like I said I'll post pics when I get the suspension setup in a week or so.

dori. 06-24-2012 07:01 PM

Definitely looking forward to it!

Some of my favorite wheels! Can't wait to see this thing on coilovers

ultra 06-28-2012 11:36 AM

I love the look of these wheels. Would go with silver + polished lip myself.

Don't want to think about the $$$ though, and no idea what they weigh. O.o

rcm47 06-28-2012 11:42 AM

What coilovers are you planning on using? I plan on using the same size wheels.

ultra 06-28-2012 11:53 AM

I's also LOVE to know the weight of those SSRs, being a 3piece rim and all. :)

Going with a set of Fortune Auto coilovers. Great guys and have dealt with them many times in the past.

I'm going to be stripping them down, changing the lips, and re coating them soon, so I'll weigh them then. I'm personally not a fan of the black/polished lips either but I have something in mind...

nix 06-28-2012 05:10 PM

Billy when it's dropped do you reckon the front will rub on lock?

ImAwesome 07-01-2012 01:45 AM

nice to see one on some nice wheels

jedichimp 07-01-2012 02:54 AM

drop + camber and you're set. I might have gone with a different finish but looks awesome. Glad to see someone going wider.

notFRS 07-01-2012 05:16 AM

I'm pretty positive it will clear. I'll post up more info later this week when my coils come in.

Exactly. I will be stripping them and re finishing them in a different color.

LSV8 07-02-2012 06:02 AM

Polish lip on black face looks cheap.. not working here.
Just my $.02

StevenEngage 07-04-2012 12:33 AM

Snoopy_TXR 07-08-2012 08:32 PM

Sexy as hell! I can't wait to see it dropped. What kind of changes are you planning to do to the rear wheels?

Thanks! Patiently waiting on my set of coilovers... I want to change the lips in the rear for some slightly wider ones.

Thanks for the interest guys! Getting our new dyno installed this week or next, that's why I've been holding off on posting info. Next week or so I'll be making a new thread with all the info and pics/vids.
