Scion explains the 2013 Scion FR-S' Torsen limited-slip differential. This video explains how the LSD works on the car, and how it adds to the performance and dynamics of the FR-S.

I didn't expect Scion to make a somewhat technical video like this. I figured they'd just say, "It makes you drift like Ken Gushi, yo!"

Finally Scion is getting more serious and moving away from the rice! :thumbsup:

good video. it's too bad they couldn't show the internals of the LSD to show exactly what is going on there... but then again, it might just confuse people more.

These videos looked like the ones shown during the early demos of FR-S, presented by the Scion regional representatives. Now they finally uploaded it to Youtube.

just wondering how does a mechanical lsd differ to the torsen??

If you're referring to the clutch type as mechanical, then all that does is lock the 2 wheels together when it detects the slippage. That's what the drifter/drag racer types like.

Interesting that the TBR of the T2 is implied to be 4:1 in this video. I wonder how accurate that is, as this is the same LSD in my IS250 and I've not been able to find any TBR information on it before.

I gotta admit I am impressed with how the car gets off tight corners at high throttle....all of my race cars have clutch based LSD's....not torsens like the FR-S.....it is a pleasant surprise at the little "boost" I feel coming off the corner....clearly the diff is working well.....for such a modestly powered car....it really gets off corners nicely...

Im glad jack didnt explain this....good guy dont get me wrong, but im ready for scion to start getting more technical with this car and less with the "lets drift yo" advertising....
