Roof wrapping party anyone?

I keep teasing at the meets (the very few I am able to go to) that I want to have a vinyl roof wrapping party, and anybody that has the stuff can all get together and get all their cars done. I volunteered my car be the first tester. So my question is- is anybody interested in this? If there's enough, I don't see why we don't just find a time and a place and knock these out.
By the way, It doesn't have to be just roofs. I'm down to do anything.

Bach415 08-03-2015 09:55 PM

Interested.

chriswian 08-03-2015 10:13 PM

Has anyone wrapped the roof of an asphalt FRS? How would that look lol
Google isn't very helpful on that one

Sugi 08-03-2015 11:04 PM

Interested

austin_ellas 08-03-2015 11:08 PM

Definitely interested!

finch1750 08-04-2015 12:51 AM

Im interested if you guys get the technique down. Lmao

gepeyo 08-04-2015 01:20 AM

megamarines 08-04-2015 03:26 AM

Super down.

MisterSheep 08-04-2015 11:56 AM

I'm interested as well. Been looking at getting my roof wrapped for a while now

Kerune 08-04-2015 12:25 PM

Does this mean a bunch of norcal 86s will have the same roof wrap all over? lol, I think I'm down I've been meaning to do it.

nyrip 08-04-2015 12:30 PM

I think this means once were done we'll have one epic picture. I'm buying stock in vinyl wrap right now

megamarines 08-04-2015 03:56 PM

Lol does someone wanna do satin black with me?

austin_ellas 08-04-2015 04:54 PM

I'm torn between gloss and satin right now.

nyrip where are you getting the vinyl from?

nyrip 08-04-2015 05:54 PM

I'm getting my sheet from a friend but I know amazon has it for 20-40 bucks

nyrip 08-04-2015 09:11 PM

How does saturday, August 15th sound to everybody? I'm working on getting a location set up. I'm not sure on a time, but it might take a bit with 9 cars there. I can bring 2-3 heat guns.

finch1750 08-04-2015 10:05 PM

Ill be in Socal aug 15 =(

PMok 08-04-2015 10:37 PM

I'll be in Monterey for the Historics races that weekend...
not looking to roof wrap my car, but if people want to lend me scraps of vinyl I may try to re-do my infamous racing stripes in vinyl instead of dip...

SOLDIER [X] 08-04-2015 11:31 PM

I'm in for a roof wrap party :D

austin_ellas 08-05-2015 12:02 AM

I'm busy that saturday too. :( If we do another day, I'll bring my heat gun for all to use.

Bach415 08-05-2015 12:20 AM

Well. First we need to figure out the vinyls and who wants which color/type. It will be cheaper in the long run to buy it as a bigger roll than a small roll per person. We can just cut the pieces from the bigger roll.

Also what time are we looking at for the 15th?

whiteout13FRS 08-05-2015 01:04 AM

Someone should take charge of this and try and get a group buy.

nyrip 08-05-2015 01:23 AM

So here's what I have so far-
I spoke with Neil @The Racers Line and he has graciously volunteered his shop in Santa Rita as our meeting place.
I understand this is quite a drive for some folks so I spoke to @finch1750 and @PMok and they have agreed to make this an official Norcal 86 Drive.
The 15th is a date I just threw out there as a siguestion. More than likely the meeting time will be in the morning. Likely 8am. If enough people are interested in the 15th, we can meet in valejo and caravan there.
If anybody has any better siguestions please let me know.
(After all, I did throw this together in 24 hrs)

The Racers Line 08-05-2015 01:24 AM

Hey guys, @nyrip and I have been chatting. I have offered my current shop as the space on the 15th(or even 16th if Sundays are easier), but have now thought of another possibility.

One of my sponsors is a vinyl shop up here in Santa Rosa, called Epic Images. I know it is a bit far, but there are two options. I'm going to talk to the owner tomorrow and see if he is interested in a group buy. He has a parking lot and shop big enough to house everyone, and could hang out and help. Of course, it would be much easier to purchase vinyl from him, and he has many many colors and tools as well.

Option 2, would have to wait slightly longer, but I am close to hopefully closing the deal on a new shop down in Concord. The space will most likely, still be quite empty when we would like to do it, but there is tons of parking and indoor space to have everyone's cars. I'm hoping to get word this week, and I would acquire the shop Sep. 1st. Fingers are very crossed.

Anyways, feel free to keep throwing out options, I just figured I'd throw another out there, as I would love to learn to vinyl wrap, and my roof would look good black!

Ha, it looks like we just typed our responses at the same time.

nyrip 08-05-2015 01:37 AM

I'm down for option 1. I know that with the 15th as the date, some people won't be able to come, but that will more than likely be the case no matter what date we meet.
Personally, I'd rather do it at a place where I know that if I messed my vinyl up, I could get another piece right there. And it could be a good final farewell to the old @The Racers Line shop.
Plus a nice drive back down the 1 doesn't hurt either.

0351USMC 08-05-2015 06:06 PM

Damn I'm out of town that weekend for my kiddos birthday!!!

DCdesign2000 08-05-2015 07:37 PM

Shoot, both options are all too far for me. More than 2 hrs :(

HelloKitty 08-05-2015 08:20 PM

I'm in!

I gotta red FRS, and have no idea what kinda finish I wanna go for. Thoughts?

Bach415 08-05-2015 11:57 PM

@nyrip I think it would be better on a Sunday if @The Racers Line shop is available that day. A lot more people would be available IMO, but that's assuming we all have our own vinyls.

pinoybrz15 08-06-2015 12:45 AM

Might be interested in this kinda wanna get glossy black

The Racers Line 08-06-2015 12:55 AM

So I actually spoke to my vinyl guy today. He is not available on the weekend, but has offered a good deal on material. If we can get an actual headcount, I can put something together. Roughly $35 a yard. The roof needs just a bit more then a yard.

To make it easier can we try and stick to two colors? Gloss and Flat?

I could also do Sunday the 16th if that works better.

workthatupdoo 08-06-2015 01:20 AM

I'd love to get in on this also. I have a heat gun I can bring if someone else has the technique :P

Wait... My god my prayers have been answered.

nyrip 08-06-2015 11:30 AM

How about this- we do the 15th or 16th date for anybody who is willing to make it out that day. We can then schedule another date later on in september. That way we can also see @The Racers Line new shop. And we will be showing up to the 2nd meet up with people who have already had some experience wrapping from the first meet.
That being siguested, we still might have to decide on the Saturday or sunday.

whiteout13FRS 08-06-2015 12:09 PM

Im down to meet at the new shop at a later date. Can I give someone 35 dollars to purchase the vinyl for the first meet? Whoever is taking charge or Neal.

Kerune 08-06-2015 01:40 PM

Where is the new shop going to be?

nyrip 08-06-2015 03:01 PM

I'll say the 15th unless there's a decision otherwise before tomorrow just so I can post the meet up on the Drive thread. @whiteout13FRS I'll take it to get you some vinyl. PM me for arrangements. @Kerune the new shop will be in Concord if I'm not mistaken.

nyrip 08-07-2015 11:36 AM

So the 15th stands. That leads me to the next point. I would like to caravan up there but we can go either 101 and get there fast and easy or take the 1 up to Bodega hwy. This route will take more than Likely twice as long but be a bit more fun. Thoughts?

nyrip 08-08-2015 04:23 PM

Is anybody still down for the 15th drive and wrap?
