What would be your first modification
What would be your modifications to your BRZ or FR-S if you had $1000 to spend?
If you could please add the Company name Thanks! |
Plan on driving the car aggressively? Tires, hands down. We picked up 5 seconds on track from tires alone.

I would vouch to do a lot of smaller mods than one big one..Personally.
The right little mods in the right place can go a loooong way. And these would definitely by on my list: -Perrin steering rack lockdown - $80.00 (Makes handling a dream). -Transmission and Differential oil change: Motul 300 - $100.00 -Raceseng slammer shifter - $110.00 (this with the oil change makes shifting butter). -Heard nothing but great things about these two little modifications and the best part is they're freeeee: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8040 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84622 -Carbon fiber overlay my interior: $120.00 DIY compared to $1200.00+ buying it. (I'm almost done with all my interior pieces and its been so much fun, pieces are turning out so great!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rTWaV1imzs"]How to cover parts in carbon fiber (fibre) by skinning or wrapping - YouTube $410.00 total so far. With a little less than 600 left to play with you can go many routes.. - get a less expensive catback to enhance the exhaust note (wont get much performance) - put the money towards a decent set of headers (probably have to save it a little but more but this would be my choice). - Put money towards tires if you still have stock. - Or money towards coils if you want some low low. Cheers and happy hunting. |

Everyone's different. If I could only spend $1000, they wouldn't all be performance parts either :iono: I never regret upgrading my tail lights. Wheel spacers are still one of my favorite mods. |
Crash bolts for the front, an alignment to max out negative camber. I'd probably still go OFT too, that opens up value in a lot of ways on the affordable side...E85 for warmer months, and tunes as you add a header, etc. Enough to hold you over for a while.
If you're driving through a freezing winter be suite to budget in a proper winter tire setup. A set of used stock wheels can be had pretty cheap. |
Headers and a tune.
Someone want to throw 1000 dollars my way? |

Tyres.
(Michelin Pilot Super Sports are a great option) |
Track Days!
|
First mod I'm going to make will be tires.
|
If you plan to drive it fast: seat time, brakes (pads and fluid), camber in that order.
|
^
+1 track days, brake pads and camber. |
I spent $500 on eibach prokits and installation. couldn't be happier - handles great, rides great and looks a ton better. if in some alternate universe I had another 500-600 to spend I'd throw some new tires on.
|
What about the car bugs you the most? I'd start there
|
save up about 10k and get a turbo
|
save up another couple grand and do the suspension.

1K on tires!
|
Track it twice
Tires/camber bolts/brake pads/fluid Track it more if you have any leftovers Do NOT add more power. No need for it unless you can fully handle the car at the limit with the stock power. |
I would say driver mod...learn to drive your car in stock form confidently on the track. Then start modding from there what you need the most.
