PST meet at MSR end of August

@PST would like to host a meet at their location. We have settled on Saturday, August 29th. Performance SpeedTech is located at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson which is a track for those that don't know.

Location:
215 Performance Lane Building I
Cresson, TX 76035

We are currently working on setting everything up for this meet. Have an idea or comment post it here and we can get things worked out for this.

This is a meet at PST with a possible track event. The meet will start at 10am. Track event will not start till ~2pm. This means from 10-12 possibly even 10-2p shop tours will happen and people can get rides in the PST BRZ track car at full speed

UPDATE FROM PST!!!
Times updated Lunch and Shop rides are still tentatively scheduled.
1. Shop tours and rides in our BRZ around track
2. Lunch
3. Mini HPDE ("focus day")

~10:00-12:00 Shop tours and rides around the track in our BRZ at full speed

12:00-1:00 Lunch

2:00-2:25 Class Orientation
2:30-2:45 Track Lead/Follow
2:45-3:10 Class Basic Handling
3:15-3:30 Track Lead/Follow
3:30-3:55 Class Track Etiquette/Safety

4:50-5:10 Track "Faster" run group
5:10-5:30 Track "Fast" run group

The cost for the focus day will be $95/driver (that's the track's fees, not ours). Helmet and suit will be required for all participants (including riders). They can be rented from the track for $10 each, or $16 for both. (Shameless plug, we sell both suits and helmets!) So yes, even if you've never been on track before, you can get two hours of instruction and two sessions for $111.

14stu 07-31-2015 07:09 PM

I plan on attending, I'm looking forward to meeting the PST guys.

Jonsey 07-31-2015 08:33 PM

I got all excited and then realized that's the one weekend I am on vacation this year, what a bummer. I was hoping to convince Dave to get the car out on track with me for some fun!

GSpeed 08-01-2015 06:49 PM

We'll definitely throw the doors open for you guys! It's a member day on the 3.1 CCW, so we'll reach out to the track management and see if we could do some lead/follow stuff on track for those of you who haven't been on track before.

If anyone has any ideas or requests, feel free to hit us up.

Driftz 08-01-2015 10:20 PM

I would like to attend this
Please keep us informed especially if we can get track time

jph11 08-01-2015 10:22 PM

Either track time or at least a ride along in you guys' car at speed around the track would be pretty sweet

GSpeed 08-02-2015 02:06 PM

Alright, I like those ideas. Totally doable. We can break this up into three parts:

1. Shop tours and rides in our BRZ around track
2. Lunch
3. Mini HPDE ("focus day")

Tentative Schedule:

10:00-12:00 Shop tours and rides around the track in our BRZ at full speed

12:00-1:00 Lunch

1:00-1:30 Class Orientation
1:45-2:00 Track Lead/Follow
2:15-2:45 Class Basic Handling
3:00-3:15 Track Lead/Follow
3:30-4:00 Class Track Etiquette/Safety

5:00-5:20 Track "Fast" run group
5:30-5:50 Track "Faster" run group
6:00-6:20 Track "Fast" run group
6:30-6:50 Track "Faster" run group

The cost for the focus day will be $95/driver (that's the track's fees, not ours). Helmet and suit will be required for all participants (including riders). They can be rented from the track for $10 each, or $16 for both. (Shameless plug, we sell both suits and helmets!) So yes, even if you've never been on track before, you can get two hours of instruction and two sessions for $111.

If anyone wants to participate in the focus day, please contact either myself or @Shneegle so we can get a head count. The more people that participate, the more we can offer.

Griever423 08-02-2015 02:36 PM

I've never known a suit to be required for an HPDE or anything similar at MSR. Why the requirement now?

Super interested in this none the less. I'll be sure to mark my calendar.

It's a requirement for member days, or any other event where the corner stations are unmanned. There will be rescue on site, of course, but not necessarily at every corner.

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you for clarifying.

Jonsey 08-03-2015 11:34 AM

For any of you who are considering doing this and haven't been to the track before, this is a great opportunity. The cost of this event is well below typical HPDEs, and I have a feeling you will be getting some very good instruction. Very sad to miss this.

If the interest is large for ride alongs and you won't have enough time to get them all out in your car, I wouldn't mind Bryan taking people out in mine. I will be out of town that weekend and we can arrange to have it out there.

GSpeed 08-03-2015 06:10 PM

Within the next week or two we'll have to get a signup list going for the mini-HPDE. We'll have to make sure we've got enough cars coming to justify it. If we can get 10 cars signed up, that would probably be enough.

jph11 08-03-2015 06:11 PM

Are we requiring the cars to be ft86 only. Or would it be open to a few more?

GSpeed 08-03-2015 08:24 PM

I mean, we're never going to turn down business! This is definitely an FT86Club.com meet, but all are always welcome.

Ramster 08-04-2015 12:33 PM

Dannnnggggg i'll be in canada....

G-Man 08-04-2015 01:42 PM

I am interested, I'll give a more firm yes/no closer to the date

Shneegle 08-13-2015 12:58 PM

Alright guys if we want to have track time for this meet we need to have 10 cars signed up by the 24 of August. That means we have 11 days to get 10 confirmed people. I will be starting a sign up now and it will be on the first post of this thread. This is open to all cars so if you have a buddy that wants in then let us know.

The cost is $95/driver. Helmet and suit will be required for all participants (including riders). They can be rented from the track for $10 each, or $16 for both. So yes, even if you've never been on track before, you can get two hours of instruction and two sessions for $111.

Just checked, unfortunately not. The focus day fee is a flat rate.

c4lvinnn 08-14-2015 11:53 AM

Hmmmmm

c4lvinnn 08-14-2015 12:03 PM

Never been to a HPDE on a track (besides a drift event) and this would be my first time. Will we be having instructors in our personal cars in the sessions?

GSpeed 08-14-2015 12:12 PM

For this event, no. The lead/follow will be at a slow pace behind our car. We do offer private one-on-one instruction, however, which is more affordable than most people expect. If you're interested, shoot me a PM.

c4lvinnn 08-14-2015 01:10 PM

Sign me up for the meet!

Driftz 08-14-2015 06:53 PM

I have a friend whom would like to run his truck on the track!
Would this be allowed?

You'll have to be more specific. Are we talking Peterbilt, or Tacoma X-Runner?

In all seriousness, sporty SUVs like the Porsche Macan have waivers in place with our insurance, but as a rule, no. We've had SUVs flip on track, it's not pretty.

bslate3 08-14-2015 10:47 PM

I want to do this so incredibly bad! I'll do my best to make this track day!!!

Zubit 08-15-2015 10:15 AM

Shneegle, drop me on the list. Let me know if you need me to do anything else... I'll just leave here at 0500 in the morning on Saturday.

Shneegle 08-16-2015 10:22 PM

Times updated Lunch and Shop rides are still tentatively scheduled.

2:30-2:45 Track Lead/Follow

4:50-5:10 Track "Faster" run group
5:10-5:30 Track "Fast" run group
5:30-5:50 Track "Faster" run group

Ha, come on out! No better way to use up old tires than send them out in a blaze of glory on a racetrack!
