Saw my dealer decked out their demo 6AT FR-S while I was in for service.
I am considering aftermarket wheels like many of you all, and I'm just collecting info on what fits on 86.

It is a staggered setup. 245/30R20 on the front. 255/30R20 on the rear. I have no idea what the offset of these wheels are, but overall it looks like it clears everything. Since the overall wheel diameter is greater than OEM, this car probably wasn't lowered. IMO it looks cartoonish, especially the wheel to brake ratio.

Overall view of car

Rear clearance. Looks like about 2 inches back there. (Bad picture I know)

Front Clearance. Closer than the rear but there is some gap between the wheel and the front strut

To be fair, that's about as good a result as I could have expected for 20s. Not too wide, and it's not jacked up or anything.

Still not my thing. Ride quality has to be trash, and the brakes are absolutely lost in that wheel. I don't want to even think about how much each wheel weighs.

Edit: Just did a size compare. The rear has to be around 1.5" taller than the stock wheel package. Front is 1.2" taller.

SWAMechFRS 06-20-2012 11:07 AM

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I'm sorry but this car wasn't made for that. What a shame. Extreme dislike.

Good eye. I completely missed that.

MattR 06-20-2012 12:05 PM

Zooming in on the original photo looks like 205/30. You can make out the number at the bottom of the photo. Tire Rack doesn't even have that size, wtf... :iono:

They are 255/30s. They certainly look like 205s though.

In all seriousness, that's one hell of an optical illusion if they are 255s.

baldolera 06-20-2012 12:40 PM

ewwwwwwww these wheels do not suit this kind of car! What were they thinking?!?!?! Rays, Enkeis, BBSs, are what suit this kind of car, not this "DUB" "BLING" crap!

Turbowned 06-20-2012 12:55 PM

"Scion is so fresh and original and unique, bro! They're different, and they hafta stand out!"

This is the marketing crap that Scion dealers are fed, so no doubt they took the formula that worked for selling xB's and tC's and applied it to the FR-S. Why do you think I wanted this car badged as a g#%d@mn TOYOTA??!!

Chupacabra 06-20-2012 12:57 PM

We should call and complain that they let 'underdeveloped adults' put wheels on this car.

Hanakuso 06-20-2012 01:00 PM

Shoulda stepped up there game and thrown 22s on it. Dubs are so 90s

But the painted calipers are awesome, aren't they guys.....guys?

Dragon86 06-20-2012 01:38 PM

Those wheels are Fugly, if someone here on the forum is considering 20's or chrome wheels for any size, GTFO and hand over their cars to someone who will do it right with proper tuner wheels.

Yes sir. They make the brakes look very beefy with those wheels

I agree with you. When I looked at the pictures it doesn't look wide; I wrote down what I saw on the tire.

The saddest part is that I think the dealer intends to use this car for test drives. I test drove this car pre bling. Not going to be any indication of what people will actually buy.
However I think they are still pretty good overall, the service department didn't pull any thing on me when I took mine in for weird sound inspection

The pic of the huge rear wheel with a tiny rear brake is awesome.

vividracing 06-20-2012 05:08 PM

They didn't even put NICE 20s on it :(

OP you should let the sales manager know that the people looking to buy this car don't want huge wheels, and that it's probably going to end up costing him sales.

Razz 06-20-2012 11:55 PM

Looks like a hot wheel toy.

Total ruin a good car.

Can you say RICE?

Sugoi_Style 06-30-2012 06:15 PM

Poor Boxer must working double time just to get those hideous chuds to budge. At least I know the first ruined FR-S is located.... It reminded me of this (...and not in a good way):

Do the FR-S some justice! It's a drivers' car, not a rolling hip pop advert!!

best mod on that car.. painted calipers. :happyanim:

os86 07-02-2012 07:27 AM

that car would handle like crap and if its a demo car, folks will get the wrong impression whilst test driving one.

Bounce 07-02-2012 07:59 AM

Looks awesome! Can't believe how tiny the stock wheels are.

Pscylo 07-02-2012 08:15 AM

Terrible, should stop by there and tell them it is an abomination. If they want to put 20s on a car, they should stick to the land yachts.
