Bonus Round! Extra go-karting August 20th

I know in the Sykart thread a few people expressed interest in doing an extra karting meet down at Pat's Acres. Pat's is an outdoor complex with real asphalt, banked turns, curbing and some pretty quick karts and it actually feels a bit more like a mini track day rather than go-karting.

The address is.
6255 S Arndt Rd, Canby, OR 97013

Let's plan to meet there at 6 or so.

And just for fun, here's a video of me slaloming some noobs

August 13th after 5pm works for me.

SomedayIsuppose 07-29-2015 01:05 PM

If I'm free, I'm down to go.

Ultramaroon 07-29-2015 02:20 PM

In!

Chen 07-30-2015 01:33 AM

I'm down if I'm free

Aztec 07-30-2015 02:09 AM

I should be free after 5 as well. Hopefully traffic isn't too bad getting down there.

What are the hours of the place? Ideally 6:30-7:00 start time? @Ultramaroon want to carpool?

Let's see what Decay has to say about start time. I'm normally on Swan Island until 5 but my schedule's flexible. Still down for carpool either from The Couve or my work, which is easy to find.

stockysnail 07-30-2015 03:33 PM

Looks like I have a softball tournament on the 12 and 13 in August now. I can do the 4, 5, 11, or 18-20rd instead.

FRS-cotty 07-31-2015 08:36 PM

i'm down to go, I don't think i'm doing anything

revil 08-01-2015 03:54 AM

I'll come once you've beaten my time.

They don't call it Pat's Acres for nothing. :p

Actually, I travel up to Seattle on Thursdays, if it weren't for that I would totally be there. I love Pat's.

Decay107 08-01-2015 01:34 PM

Ok everybody, how about the 20th at 6?

Smooth and consistent, nice. Did you use brakes anywhere? What hp kart is that? Are they all the same or do they put noobs (me) in mules?

I think Scott Pruett said that's where he got his start.

Andrew025 08-02-2015 01:40 PM

As of now, I can make it to the 20th at 6.
So count me in.

Did I use brakes? You kidding?!? That's what separates the fast from the slow! for this track my fast times use the following strategy.

Stomp on the brakes quick to initiate a drift for turn 1, modulate throttle to maintain a 4 wheel drift and go full throttle after hitting the second apex.

Full throttle through turn 2

Trail brake to apex on turn 3, do not use the concrete on entry.

Full throttle through turn 4, wide line, hit the curbing

Trail brake into turn 5, but not all the way to apex

Trail brake into turn 6 to apex

Full throttle turn 7

Throttle steer turn 8, don't think I brake much here

Trail brake to apex in turn 9

Repeat :party0030:

All the karts are the same horsepower (that one was actually a little bit down, took 1.5 seconds off my best time in the video using another kart) I believe they have 9 hp.

Ultramaroon 08-03-2015 01:08 AM

My strategy will be to do what you did but go faster.

torqdork 08-03-2015 02:36 PM

I could easily go that quickly but choose not to.

I'm definitely in, I love Pat's! I'm more competitive in outdoor karting than sykarts anyhow. 8)

Thinking about it. Do the karts have cupholders? I'd hate to spill good wine.

llawd 08-03-2015 10:52 PM

It's not you. I'm from Troutdale, the center of the known Universe. The further away you go, the more things tend to speed up.

Sounds like a black hole. There's more to life than outlet stores. :D

Yeah, like no sales tax and cheaper gas, explaining all the WA plates at the world's busiest Costco. ;)

Sooner or later we all get <cough> sucked in.

Aztec 08-06-2015 12:38 AM

Update, cannot attend the 20th. Doing a family reunion from the 20th-22nd

Chen 08-07-2015 12:45 AM

@johan

johan 08-07-2015 06:52 PM

I am most likely in.

Ironically, turns out this is the day before I'm to go to Sykart with my entire work office - that of course being my doing via winning our internal NCAA March Madness bracket contest.

So you're practicing right? Nothing quite like lapping your coworkers and then complaining that the kart felt "slow"

I know there will be some I will lap, others, idk, either way it'll be fun to see their reaction to the whole experience. There's only 10 of us here.
