deposit paid today. have some questions

hey guys I'm a long time reader and first time poster on this forum....figured that i won't post until i paid a deposit for my new 86....

would like to share with you my experience:

i went to 2 toyota dealers today (called one but didn't go) around the sydney *** area - GLEBE and then 5 dock. In my opinion and not to offend anyone of you, the one down at glebe is full of crap, he said 6-8 months waiting list (so basically till 2013?)....so i stumbled down to 5 dock toyota....

i was bloody unlucky to hear that the GT tornado gray manual was sold an hour BEFORE i got there....i wanna congrats YOU if you are reading this bloody hell LOL....nevertheless, i ordered a GT manual expecting to arrive in mid-late august...

my question is does anyone know how accurate these are? i actually read the contract at the back....and it says something like if within 7 days of the stipulated DATE on the contract, the car is not delivered, we can rescind the contract and get the deposit back? for my personal reasons which i do not want to disclose, i had to pay 10k AUD for deposit immediately....

another question is: what did you pay for a GT manual? i didn't even get $1 bumped off, instead my price for the car had decimal points behind it lol..

anyhow....im really happy :) and all i want to say is that STOP calling the dealers, rock in there and drill the information out of them...you never know what they have or they are planning! (for example, the waterloo one which i called wanted me to pay $1000 before even getting to see the car? wtf?)

JiB 06-20-2012 07:15 AM

i have spoken to the guys from 5 dock when i first started looking, dragon i think his name was. very friendly and happy i found my car (even tho it wasnt through him)
Lols at your 10k deposit, im sure they will pull through, and you should have your "track my toyota" details which kind of by passes the sales BS and gives you somewhat accurate tracking.

whyreeto 06-20-2012 07:23 AM

omg they didn't give me any track my toyota details :(...did u have to ask for it specifically? or is it somewhere in the receipt?....they told me that my car is scheduled to be built around mid july thats why it ends up in aus mid-late august apparently

Nafe 06-20-2012 07:35 AM

Not surprised you didn't get any $$ bumped off dude, it's a brand new model... With more orders than they have cars to fill them. There won't be discounts for a little while yet.
My understanding of the delivery dates is that they aren't going to be 100% accurate. The salesperson described the system to me, but it is too difficult to type out. I am not sure how yours is apparently coming so quickly though. Good luck with it :)

I've heard they are into September/October build dates on new orders and its 4-6 week on top of that until delivered.

Nardi330 06-20-2012 09:34 AM

You need to ask the sales for online tracking.

whyreeto 06-20-2012 09:40 AM

ahhh thanks guys! ill ask the sales for online tracking tomorrow...basically it happened too fast.....it felt like a race to put down an order immediately lol...considering that i missed out on an order that i could have easily driven the car away right due to an hour delay made me rush the next order just to make sure i didn't need to wait even further...

thanks heaps guys! :)

spiller 06-20-2012 10:28 AM

I hear ya mate, I placed my deposit 2 weeks ago without even seeing a car or any of the colours other than what id seen online. Not even the proper toyota aus brochure! They wont give you info unless you ask for it as they dont want to make promises they cant keep. Make sure you keep calling them. In the past two weeks ive now managed to get a build date out of them (15th Sept) but im still trying to get my tracking info. ill keep calling them until I get it.

Very odd there would be an 86 available anywhere in Australia atm, especially in a MANUAL... And u was just an hr to late... Odd...

How much was the driveaway price? U can compare with others here --> http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8247
And HAD to pay 10 thousand up front?.... Very Odd

Heheh my dealer is a selective reader. she only responds to SOME questions in my e-mails. so I have to keep hounding her.

I bought mine in white for the track only car.. no rego, stamp duty insurance etc and I even wanted the plastic left on interior.. stiffed me $1800 for dealer delivery.. I mean really !!! it came out at $32280- apparently all about the profit margin is so small.... I offered them signage for a good deal and future display exposure...

Having said that.. this thing will buzz on the track :)

Dont bother with paint and rust protection, but if you do insist on getting get it from a reputable place not from the dealer you will save heaps, just like tint.

Brand, installer, other people past experiences and advice. Dont think thickness has much to do.

Sungard Osborne Park did a careless shitty job on the tint on one of my cars a few years back, bubbles and grains of sand underneith the tint and window, bastards didnt care nor offer a refund. However Sungard tinting wangarra i did back in 2006 was brilliant, i think it was called Eclipse the grade/type of tint, it was the highest grade legal tint had a silvery tinge to it, was pretty sweet at dusk and dawn.

FT-86GOD 06-21-2012 01:37 PM

fuck it im starting a thread on it..Tint that is otherwise when people try to use the search for info they will never find it in this thread...

Don't do it is my opinion. Get a 3M tint. Go aftermarket for that stuff. it will be cheaper.

Trueno86 06-21-2012 07:13 PM

paid 1.1k for the ming exterior and interior protection, talked the girl down from 1.8. I got tint for 'free' before i got to the girl so they may have made it up on me with this.

Either way, i dont have a garage, so that puppy is gonna be baking out in the sun the whole summer, should be interesting to see how all that crap works, i guess theres always a first time (and if it doesnt work, a last).

spiller 06-22-2012 12:18 AM

Its all a farce. Just make sure you wash your car with a wash and wax and wax it every 6 months and you'll be good as gold. I had it put on my options for 995 but took it off a day later.

The Toyota recommended dealer delivery is $1800. Check the Toyota website for pricing in your local area. They aren't overcharging you anything. The only rip off is the aftermarket goods. An in house detail only costs a dealer $150 anyway. Dealer charges are trucking at a flat rate from the manufacturer, co-op advertising and margin. Profit isn't a dirty word where I come from. :D

Enjoy the car. Can I ask though, if this is a track only car, why didn't you buy in Japan the RC and private import?

He didn't pay stamp duty, rego, green slip and plate fees.
