Rays 57xtreme CJ Spec On White BRZ

14 Attachment(s)
After a long 7 months wait my CJ spec 57xtreme came
it looks fantastic on the BRZ with STI kit. this is probably one of the first sets
as it is a 2015 model but don't quote me on that and feel free to prove otherwise

here are some specs
235/40R18 Bridgestone RE003
wheel specs are all round 18X8.5 +42

At the moment, the car is lowered by 15mm due to the STI Springs.

I feel like lowering the car more by getting coils in the future.
steering definitely feels tad heavier and lot more road feedback

more images are to come

[UPDATE] Due to some request for STI spoiler i have included it in this thread,
more photos of the fitment is being uploaded now

looks great

Clipdat 07-29-2015 12:38 AM

That's fucking sexy right there! Love the white accents on the spokes of the wheel.

interested in this fitment, would you be able to post more pics outside in better lighting with front and rear angles so I can see how concave they are? thanks much!

I do not think they are white, they are simply cut outs (for weight savings) that are not painted or polished to a shine. So just the natural colour of the material,

Quite nice indeed tho!

hamlet 07-29-2015 05:00 PM

if you're going with heavy 18's it's clear you're going for the look more than the performance.

So based on what you're targeting: success. Wheels look good. Needs more low maybe?

That's the 57Xtreme SP Spec I believe.

Clipdat 07-29-2015 05:47 PM

Oh weird, ok. I would've figured they're pained/sealed somehow to prevent corrosion/wear in that area.

Wow they look great, you changed my mind to get these from 18x9.5 all around, are you just on springs and no rubbing at all?

I realize that your wheels are CJ Spec (it's in the thread title :P), but what makes you think the wheel that Clipdat posted is CJ Spec? Looks like matte graphite like SP Spec and the "cut-outs" don't match the CJ Spec.

Thread updated hopefully is enough but will upload better photos under better lighting condition

Clipdat 07-30-2015 01:54 AM

My bad! Didn't mean to add confusion to the thread regarding the wheel subtypes.

It's raining in Perth ? Struth !

A few Q's:

1: Did you see what clearance you got in the end from strut to tyre ? Absolutely NO rubbing even during hard cornering ?

2: Alignment specs ? Looks like it needs a touch of camber up front.

3: How do the STI springs compare to stock ?

4: How are finding the Duralumin locking nuts ? Reckon they'll last 5 years ?

5: Can you give us an insight to the new RE003 tyres ?

This is awesome to see because it proves that the new Rays Face2 18x8.5+42 56.1mm HC design fits these cars well & it would appear with no fitment issues - I LIKE !

Cheers

1. no rubbing whatsoever, everything cleared

2. do have them at the moment as i have not got a wheel alignment from factory as car came standard with the STI springs. Alignment would be the same as the series blue in america

3. STI springs are definitely stiffer but at the same time comfortable. lots of grip on the track. i have compared to the stock frs and definitely much less body roll

4. they should last quite a while if taken care of properly

5. the new bridgestone RE003 tyre is very grippy i cant give u much detail of it but is quite not as noisy as prius tyres in my opinion. i am sorry i am no expert at this but i reckon they are good tyres for its price

Just to clarify -- those are 9.5s, right?
They look great tho! Def prefer CJ spec to SP. Did you weigh them before you mounted? Wondering if the machining makes any measurable difference or not.

Super Dave 08-09-2015 07:03 PM

wait are they 9.5 or 8.5 squared?

Mikey2style 08-09-2015 11:52 PM

"wheel specs are all round 18X8.5 +42"

Yes, these are a size offered for 57xtremes with a concave face. No need for coilovers!

Timmy_Jones 08-10-2015 12:32 PM

The wheel accents are very strange. And the spoiler seems a bit out of place. Car has a nice stance to it. Thanks for posting.

All the 8.5s ive seen don't have the concave face. I really like these though. Concave face looks really good

If 235 tires are stretched like that, it has to be a 9.5.

18x8.5 42 offset, it's in the first post.

I see that. But Cesium seems to think he may have mistyped. Possibly could be 9.5

Note:

18x8.5 + 42 = Face 2, ie you can haz concavez, same as 9.5.

Yep, you're right! OP's rims are def 9.5 but according to the link they make the 8.5 in the concave face. I'd still ask for visual confirmation before you put money down. There's no way an 8.5 with that much concavity has a 42 offset, and there is no other Japanese 8.5" rim that's so agressive afaik (and I only know bc I been rim shopping). In fact I might ask for confirmation myself -- I want those bitches too if the numbers ain't lyin!

df.dima 08-12-2015 10:54 AM

There was a discussion on this spec wheels a couple of times before, and someone did mention they are "same concave" as wider ones, but it was not certain. I guess either the OP can confirm, or the vendor you are getting them from, afterall, they should know what they are selling :).

Just because this 235 tire looks stretched on them, doesn't mean those could not be 8.5. My co-worker had 245 width Contis and they looked slightly stretched on 9 wide, no "fat" by any means... This is not too far off.

no I did not miss-typed them,
it is definitely 18x8.5+42 no lies :)
