Monthly Blackhawk Cars & Coffee Meet

I know there are some mentions of this car meet in threads but I did not see one just specifically for it. Wanted to get this thread together so people can talk about meeting up with other 86'ers to drive together to this meet. The next upcoming one is Sunday August 2nd and is located at Blackhawk Auto Museum in Danville.

I believe the last couple months, the 86Drive folks have organized a caravan to the meet. Check out the last couple pages of the Drive chat thread

It would be cool to see more 86's out there. The Mustang and Camaro clubs always try and park in a row together. The only issue is, they claim it starts at 8am, when realistically, people start showing up around 6am, which makes parking very difficult.

overlookedx 07-27-2015 08:24 PM

This is one of my favorite local car shows because anyone can park anywhere and its got a great vibe to it. It would be great if we could roll in with a large group of 86s, I think our group for this event has been growing each month.

MyRx 07-27-2015 08:41 PM

@PMok has organized a Castro Valley rally point to the venue, thru a short canyon sprint towards Blackhawk. Anyone care to organize a San Ramon rally point, that's fine too. Meet up at Crow Canyon Commons, down the street from Blackhawk.

PMok 07-27-2015 08:45 PM

yup, last 2 months or so we have gathered up at around 6:30AM and rolled in to the show together... but as a fairly small group of about 5-6 cars. I am not 100% sure I can make it this month, but if someone (one of the regulars like @overlookedx or @The Racers Line?) wants to lead a short caravan drive there (you are free to pick a starting spot of your preference) please do and I will add the info up to the events calendar if we can post that up in advance.

^^^ This is completely true. You see the camaro club park right in the middle of the parking lot and most people do get there around 6:30 which is kind of rediculous

My girlfriend and I have always hit up the Starbucks in the Marketplace in San Ramon before we head up there. Her and her dad bring their 1966 Ford Broncos, they both have their own. I believe the road you guys drive through is Crow Canyon? from Castro Valley? I'm willing to meet up with other 86'ers before the meet for a roll in, the next question is who wants to set up/ organize the roll in.

Why don't we just plan to meet up at that Starbucks? It wont be much of a drive, but that means that we can meet a bit later at around 7am and make the short drive to Blackhawk and still arrive early enough to park together.

Here's the address for anyone following along:
500 Market Place
San Ramon, CA

Officially meeting at Starbucks in Marketplace address is quoted above. 7am sharp. See ya'll there! It's a short 10-15min drive max to the show from there.

OK, thanks for leading this one Chris. I've added this to the events calendar on 86DRIVE. If I'm not able to attend, I authorize you to issue 86DRIVE STARS to all drivers who join on this caravan to the BC&C.

Im looking forward to meeting both of you there.

The Racers Line 07-30-2015 12:15 AM

I'm coming down from up north obviously, so I won't make the caravan, but I'll see you all there!

TofuJoe 08-01-2015 07:17 PM

Not sure if I'll make it to the caravan, but I'm planning to go tomorrow.

lamune 08-01-2015 08:17 PM

Will be there tomorrow at 7 or so. @PMok, any 86drive stickers? :)

TofuJoe 08-02-2015 01:43 PM

Rolled through Starbucks at 7:05am and didn't see anyone. Saw @theracersline at the event with his hilarious dog. Would be cool to get a bunch of 86s parked together sometime, although it looks like we'd need to get there at 6-6:30am. Ouch.

PMok 08-02-2015 03:18 PM

Sorry I missed it today, I went to bed pretty late and just could not get out of bed early enough.

Last month we had a decent group of 86s parked together we rolled in by 7:30AM:

http://86drive.com/wp-content/upload...1-1024x680.jpg

we can try again next month.

I showed up at the starbucks at 6:45am and only saw one other person there when i showed up. unfortunately I couldnt find the owner inside of starbucks but i did see chris, and david at starbucks and we left for the show at 7:20am. We got to the show around 7:30 and got a decent spot. I was also able to meet the owner of the racers line and saw his sweet frs. Ill try and post a picture of the white frs that was at starbucks but didnt roll with us once i get to a computer.

After the meet david, jaanisar(owns a black s2000) my girlfriend, brother and I we all got lunch at the san ramon habit and then went down to redwood for a nice drive.

Pictures will be posted soon!

Edited: Just posted iphone pics from when at the meet, and the drive. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of Chris' BRZ. I will post more pictures when the GF decides to upload the pictures from her camera. Stay tuned!

TofuJoe 08-02-2015 06:39 PM

@MisterSheep - I was only half awake at that hour, and now I think I went to the wrong starbucks. I put starbucks into my phone and there were about 5 in that area. D'oh.

Thats the problem with starbucks xD :bellyroll: I believe we put the address in the forum and on 86 drive. I go to every blackhawk meet everytime so possibly next time.

overlookedx 08-04-2015 05:25 PM

It was fun meeting and hanging with ya'll. Sorry I couldn't make it to the drive but I had to head out shortly after C&C for the Quakes game. Actually followed a caravan of Evos and Subies down to Fremont and saw them get off the freeway for BAM.

Did you guys ever figure out who owned the FR-S with the big wing that was parked at Starbucks?

Already looking forward to next month! Hopefully we can get more than 3 twins parked together this time...

No, so far we havent been able to find out who was the owner of the big winged white frs. Is this Chris or David?

Just wanted to give a quick bump to this thread.

The next meet is not this Sunday but next Sunday, September 6th.

Any ideas for meeting and caravaning to the meet?

nyrip 08-27-2015 02:00 PM

I have to drop my old lady off at the airport at 5am that day but I can head back to attend.

I'm down to meet at the same place. I think that location worked out well for getting coffee/breakfast without the madness that is the Blackhawk Starbucks, and having a nice short cruise to the meet.

megamarines 08-27-2015 02:26 PM

Down for sure! Anywhere works for me since I'm pretty close to it anyway.

I agree lets meet at the same place again. I will post the address again and pictures so it is clear where we will be meeting because @TofuJoe was half asleep (i dont blame him  ) it's early and theres a billion different starbucks in San Ramon. I will be there around 6:45-6:50 and would like everyone there around 7:00am.

Sounds about right. I remember we said we'd leave at 7am but stuck around for another 10-15 minutes. Still got good spots though. It depends on how full the show will be, it's always hard to tell, people might be back from summer vacations so it might fill up faster than last time, but who knows.

If you dont see this building it is not the correct one. It shares the same parking lot as a CVS and Nob Hill. If you do not see either one of these places you are at the wrong place. Please see directions below.

Directions;
If driving on 680 take Bollinger Canyon Road Exit.

Going north on 680, take Bollinger Canyon Rd Exit then turn right, on to bollinger canyon rd.

Going south on 680, take bollinger canyon rd exit then turn left, on to bollinger canyon rd. You will go over the freeway.

Once on Bollinger Canyon Rd. go straight until you reach Alcosta Blvd. Turn right on to Alcosta.

Going down Alcosta your first light will be Market Pl. Turn Right on to Market Pl. and then take your first right into the parking lot.

Starbucks will be on your left once you enter the parking lot.

We would like people to be there at 7:00am. I will be there around 6:45-6:50am to get coffee. If anyone else would like to show up at that time please feel free! I expect there to be quite a bit of people at the show due to the fact that it is Labor Day weekend. I would like to leave around 7:00am to 7:10 am to leave for the show. Parking can get really rough there and it fills up FAST. I have also attached the route we will be taking to Blackhawk.

Let me know if there's any questions.

TofuJoe 09-01-2015 12:34 PM

@MisterSheep - Thanks for the map! I think I was actually over half asleep last time. Probably about 89% actually. :)

nyrip 09-01-2015 01:08 PM

I should be in attendance and possibly showing up early

megamarines 09-01-2015 02:16 PM

funwheeldrive 09-01-2015 05:48 PM

ean611 09-03-2015 04:40 PM

PMok 09-06-2015 01:28 AM

Bumping this thread. This meet is this sunday! 10/4.

If anyone objects the original meetup place please speak up so we can plan out a new meet up if not I'm going to just say to meet at the same spot.

Also, we have been doing a drive after the meet every time. The past 2 meets we have been doing redwood road, looking to try a new road, any suggestions??
