How are you guys mounting front license plates?
So I got a ticket last week for not having a front license plate here in VA. I've been slacking on mounting it because I've found most front license plates are mounted by some means of drilling holes in the factory bumper. Does anyone know of any way to go about mounting a plate on a BRZ without doing this? I'd rather not drill holes in my front bumper to mount one of those ugly front plate holders.

You're probably going to take some heat for not searching before you posted.
Grimmspeed, Perrin, DIY - there's tons of info already posted. |
I have mine on a flip up mount under my car. When I'm driving somewhere that I think I would get pulled over for it I can flip it up. When I'm just driving around town or at a car show it stays hidden under the car!

Velcro tape lol. I only put it on when I park, really just in Denver. The parking people are assholes about the front plate. I got a ticket right after I bought the car for no front plate, then the next time I tossed it in my window and got an "improper front plate" ticket. It's been working just fine so far, I'm not about to drill holes in my bumper for the stock mount.
I'll buy the perrin if it becomes a problem but I have yet to get pulled over while driving You can see the little square on my front bumper http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...psmepdtvco.jpg |
Grimmspeed front plate kit for me!

Raceseng Tug Plate
More adjustments, and zero issues of it coming loose unlike some others... http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps60dc0d4f.jpg |
I'm not.
I mean, I have a grimmspeed thing but I've taken my bumper off the last few weekends and it's a pain so I just have it off for now. |
I dislike the off-center look but I also didn't want to drill two big holes in my bumper, so I went with the Skene Design license plate mount.

Trd body kit for me. Before that it was zip tied to the grill.

I used to use a tow hook frame then I ran no front license for look in NJ, in which a front license is required.
No tickets, no problem. Even if there is one, it is not going to be pricey. Now I live in PA and no front license here. http://cdn.meme.am/instances/500x/55302117.jpg |

Mine is mounted inside a box of "spare" stock parts in my garage
Only option otherwise would be a "no holes" type option, but then its off-center. |
i was thinking zipties underneath the mustache. I used to have it on the pass side of dash but then when i was at subaru, service guys took it down. Now it just sits on the floor on my passenger side lol.

Off center is common for JDM cars so I'm used to it. I was absolutely NOT drilling holes. Quote:
$200 ticket here, that's not cheap... Quote:
The way the airbag comes out, it's not a good idea for it to be on the dash. Under the mustache would be blocking airflow. Dunno what the overhead is on the cooling on this car is, but I've had issues with doing that on a Miata and won't do it on this car. Plus I think zip ties look like crap and I don't want it flapping. |
I think i will try the magnet method if i start getting tickets in Alaska
if not, im running no plate until i get the turbo/supercharger kit installed once i own the car more. |
I got stopped for not having a front plate on my car, but no ticket. After that I picked up the Grimm kit. It works but I'm still not 100% on the offset look on the BRZ/FRS...
