Window button rattle?
Anyone have this? It's driving me mad, so I have put in temporary rubber to stop it from moving and rattling but wondered if anyone has a proper fix?
Thanks |
I have heard of wrapping the bottom of the button unit in sound insulating material. Ive been meaning to take the door apart and try it, but my car has been in the body shop for a while.

Thinking of taking off the door as well!

The window button rattle annoys me to no end. I stick ripped name cards in there, but it just looks fugly.
|
Someplace on here there is a very simple fix for this. I will try to find it since I believe the title is of no assistance in a search.
|
Rattles all the time, along with the manual door lock. I just karate chop them and they seem to stop for a few days.
|
I stopped the rattle for the window switch but developed the door lock rattle after. Have not torn the door off for the second time to fix that.

Sigh

Yeaup, pretty much. You can either rip the door off and insulate the switches or you can jam something down between the window switch and the door. I think the original quick fix that popped up a couple years ago, was putting a rolled up piece of duct tape next to the switch to act as a buffer.

Good to kmow I have some rubber wedged in there was just wondering if I should take the door off and sort it properly will see how things go

The windows on these cars just seem to be cursed.
I have the window button rattle, the drivers pass window control where the auto function only works 70% of the time, and the pinched window seal (which i fixed by putting a piece of scotch tape on the part of the seal that was getting pinched by the window lol) |
The fix is to tape the window switch together with sound deadening material. You must remove door card. I had done this to my car and it makes world's difference.

The window switch? Are your guys' switches loose? I've never heard of this, mine are super tight.
|
I've got some notes in this post regarding how to fix the switches. Requires popping the door card off.

Bringing this thread back from the dead to let you guys know...in case some of you still care...that I fixed the problem.
I removed the switch modules from the door cards and wrapped the switch and its mount several times in electrical tape, and then proceeded to add thin foam weather stripping in between the plastic parts where it sits in the door card, and even went ahead and removed the speaker/knee pad and pit foam in between it and the door card as well. The vibes in the door are gone now! I will get to posting pictures...when I feel like fixing the handle/lock later. |
@thatfilipinoguy thanks for tip, I've had my BRZ for 2 months and the rattle is starting drive me crazy.

These are all the locations where I taped, and applied the foam strips.
The foam was purchased at home depot for $2.XX |
I've had m BRZ for a little over 8 months now and I have no idea how anyone could hear a rattle in this car. The insulation from road noise is so non-existent that at anything over 10mph how can you hear anything?
Is the rattle really that loud? |
It's not really a rattle, more like when you're listening to music and you hear the speakers and windows vibrating.
|
It's more of a buzzing noise from the window switch that's caused by the speaker. My dealer did some kind of insulation that fixed the issue.
