Quiet exhaust
What other brand of exhaust would be quiet beside Fujisobo? Since it will be expensive. And my S2000 had an exhaust that could be heard a block away, I don't want this to happen again.
have you seen the exhaust compilation sticky thread? you can hear each of them.
Its subjective more than anything since everyone has different standards of loud. But i think the perrin one is fairly quiet.
I'm with drew on this one. I too want an aftermarket exhaust but remains as quiet as possible.
Stupid question, since aftermarket exhausts are almost always louder, why not just keep the stock one? Or just get some modified tips?
you could just do a new high flow catted downpipe and keep the stock axleback. That'd be pretty quiet. the nameless catted downpipe is $400... and I really like it.
I'm in the same boat and leaning towards Nameless Performance really because of Tainen's vids

There's no reason why power has to equal loud on a street car... this isn't Formula 1. In testing various exhaust setups for my race car, the quietest one I tested was the one that actually performed the best and what's nice about that is I don't have to modify it when I go race at tracks with very restrictive Db policies. There's no reason I can't have 15-25 extra ponies on my car without having to sound like another clown with a fart-can who's car only attracts high school kids and police officers. Call it age but my ricer days are behind me. I like sporty cars and performance but I'm not trying to be part of any "scene" or attract unnecessary attention. |
You guys are in for a treat.
Performance not equal to noise. I want to be able to push the car on the street without checking the rear view mirror every two secs. Those days are gone with my S2000, I was afraid to push it everytime I drive it because the loud exhaust.
My Accelerated Performance system is on it's way via FedEx. That's what I chose to go with. Sounds more mean then the tame/quiet Namleess.
nameless sounds pretty aggressive when wound out to me? just not as loud (especially in the cabin)

sht- that sounds good - but i have one question -- if we end up taking it to the track.. have you measured the db on this unit ? love it i wish someone would measure the stock one and tell us how they compare to these aftermarket units... hard to guage that over some video on internet/youtube.. |

if they build it, we will come ... cant wait |
I don't want to steal anyones thunder but, there should be something soon!

We started with the tame version because we hadn't completed our development of the header, etc and wanted to see how things would pan out with the full exhaust equipped. If you want aggressive, we can do that also (2011 Muffler Delete Catback): [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NmFKXyrzcE"]Nameless Performance 2011 STi Sedan Catback - YouTube[/ame] Or quiet: http://vimeo.com/43154785 Same system, same power, different muffler configuration. Obviously not a BRZ, but it's a good 'both ends of the spectrum' comparison of our mufflers and how the various designs impact dB's markedly without affecting the tone/frequency of the exhaust. Tanabe usually makes some of the quieter aftermarket exhausts and they just finished their R&D...they should be shipping next month.

Just finished my exhaust and its very tame. Tips I think look good. I think its pretty basic but sounds good. |
I've heard a couple of cars recently that sounded downright odd.
One was an STi, on the highway after an onramp, that when he got into it, there was no rumble, just a loud sound like the business end of a wet-vac; huge sucking sound. I'm used to hearing WRX/STi's with their loud rumble exhaust, so it took me a sec to figure out what it was; I heard it again a little further down the road and there he was again. It was noticeable with the windows up in my Impreza, over other vehicles, from a couple lanes over. The other was a BMW in my neighborhood that had just a mechanical whir/air woosh noise. (No one obeys the 30mph city speed limit) Both were notable because there was no exhaust note whatsoever. I thought it was kinda interesting. |

if you go with a hi flow cat system, are these high flow cats good enough to pass emissions?
High flow cat is just for cops they usually don't work for emission.
