Does anyone take off their windshield wipers ?

I know people this strictly for looks. I personally like the look but im wondering how many of us FRS owners are actually doing this. And if you do, do you guys use something special on your windshield to compensate for not being able to keep water off?

navanodd 07-11-2015 08:58 PM

This is actually a thing people do?

WhiteFRS69 07-11-2015 09:11 PM

did it in my last car.. don't know why, went for a "Cleaner" look i guess, used to keep a wiper in my trunk

if you do it, i apply Sonax Polymer net shielding to my windows, water beads and runs right off

DM7 07-11-2015 09:11 PM

Rain-X will make water bead and fly off windshields. Have to be going around 40mph for it to work.

It doesn't rain in California. No need for the XL sized washer bottles and heated wipers (hell, no wipers!) that ship on Canadian cars.

WhiteFRS69 07-11-2015 09:12 PM

maybe to keep those HUGE stickers they put on there windshield from coming off???

jaime3 07-11-2015 10:37 PM

People do it for the "cleaner" look
Where can I get that sonax polymer @WhiteFRS69

campy 07-11-2015 10:47 PM

Me and my whole crew rock the no-wiper style. Nothing cleaner than a car with no wipers. It's a shame that so many cars come with wipers nowadays with cars getting all big and heavy.

Wut?

Andrew025 07-11-2015 11:29 PM

I just take off the windshield and wipers.
Problem solved.

jdmblood 07-11-2015 11:35 PM

Can we get a picture of an frs/brz with no wiper??

bcj 07-12-2015 12:42 AM

Still have the actuator studs sticking out of the facia.
Do you remove the wiper motor and mechanism as well?

I am pretty sure just reading the first post of this thread has dropped my IQ about 10 points.

I don't know how you aren't already one from the amount of time you spend on the forums :P

Im sure you've seen some really "interesting" threads such as this, no?

funwheeldrive 07-12-2015 02:46 AM

I removed my windshield the other day. That sucker weighed at least 35lbs.

S84kam 07-12-2015 06:03 AM

is it me or does this sounds stupid and dangerous...

Turbo95eg6 07-12-2015 06:05 AM

Rookies, y'all can talk once you remove your headlights and turn signals like I did.

soulreapersteve 07-12-2015 08:38 AM

Since we are removing stuff, why won't everyone just cruise around with no steering wheel? I've seen plenty of people showing off and I suppose that's the cool thing to do nowadays.

TRD-X 07-12-2015 10:34 AM

I believe this is the stupidest thing I've seen posted on this forum. http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/...fts/spank1.gif

i dont think its really meant for windows, but it gets the job done

Demandred7 07-12-2015 02:22 PM

I think this belongs here:

:needpics:

I still can't believe this until I see it.

Even if this is a real thing, it sounds like some sort Darwinian karma about to happen.....

Impureclient 07-12-2015 02:37 PM

Since we are on the subject, who is going to be the guinea pig to try and remove their brake pads now?
All that extra weight and friction rubbing on the rotors is only holding us back, right?

Obja 07-12-2015 02:41 PM

this forum is pure cancer at this point.... wow

WhiteFRS69 07-12-2015 02:56 PM

windshield wipers are nothing compared to these guys....

Thanks. It's kept your windshield in good condition?

its gets the job done, doesnt last to long, its meant for a sealant for your Cars paint, not for glass

if you want to save money, just buy Rain X or wax your Windows,

Exactly what I was thinking.

It wouldn't even make for a much cleaner look on the 86 anyway, since the wipers are recessed almost completely below the hoodline to begin with.

3nl 07-13-2015 12:26 PM

Yeah, I totally do this bruh! My seatbelts clashed with the red stitching on my seat covers and the radiator got in the way of my grille mesh so I took those off too. Looks so much better now, amiright?

adamg 07-13-2015 12:34 PM

i used to not run wipers on my TT...

jamies31 07-13-2015 01:58 PM

Yeah would probably look good on a show car that is trailered everywhere and only driven on warm sunny days,
But what looks worst is a busted up car because you removed your wipers and couldn't see due to rain, road debris, bugs etc. (really anything).
I can already see the "totalled my frs tonight" thread in a couple weeks. There a safety item and there for a reason, Your car due as you like but I will be leaving my intact and working.

This implies that you started with some IQ points...? After reading so many worthless posts you must have run out a LONG time ago... or else... you have unlimited IQ... :eyebulge:

There are just enough good posts that I manage to maintain a delicate equilibrium.
There is also my sanity saver:

I've considered converting a mono wiper, because race car. But then I remember how fucking lazy I am, and how many big ass bugs get splattered on my windshield while driving to my cottage. And all the shitty slush that gets onto my windshield during winter.

Tl;dr, keep your wipers. You'll never know how much you need them until you don't have them.

Gunman 07-13-2015 09:27 PM

I knew a few guys back in my minitruck days that shaved the wipers, and the cowl. A few removed the wipers, and just put caps on the stems. A friend of mine shaved the LH wiper, and reworked the linkage so the RH wiper would park on the drivers side, ie a single center mount wiper for the entire wind screen.

...that was back when custom didn't come in a box ;)

Tcoat 07-13-2015 09:44 PM

I had a 58 Chev that had vacuum powered wipers. They would completely stop every time you accelerated and the vacuum was used to advance the distributer. When you took your foot off the accelerator they would go like hell. Every once in a while they would start up so fast and hard that one or even both would fly off the car.
Spent many a night looking for wipers in the ditch but apparently I was way ahead of my time when I couldn't find them and had to drive without them.

That'd work way better now, you could just tap the vacuum tube into your web feed and that thing would bat its wings like a hummingbird.

HMMM not so sure the feed creates a vacuum.
