That's what I'm saying!

cjd 06-15-2015 02:42 PM

I've heard of it, never been inclined to try digging it up. Why is it worth a watch?

No TV here, so not even sure how it's available.

nope, not a fan

Options:

1: He becomes a white walker (not a zombie but one of the leaders)
2: His soul gets transferred into the wolf and maybe somehow back into a man later?
3: Resurrected by lady in red.
4: He doesn't actually die from his wounds.. maybe someone sees him bleeding out nurses him back to health?
5: He just fucking dies.. Goddamnit!
6: ???

6... My theory, Melisandre realized that Jon Snow (not Stannis Baratheon) is actually Prince that was Promised / Azor Ahai (non-spoiler linky)

IKR... Also, Tormund is gonna be angry, and they won't like him when he's angry.

The chit's hardcore man. You can HBO-GO it, also available on Amazon Prime, or rent seasons on DVD.

Tormund is gonna go crazy on the night's watch. Also.. I wished jon died fighting that one white walker on episode 8, not by the night's watch.

Hence #3, resurrected by "lady in red" (I didn't remember her name) :D

However, the actor that plays Jon Snow has publicly said he's done with GoT, as in his employment is over and that his character is, in fact dead. He's currently working on other projects. So there's that.

Actually, what he said was...

As for whether or not his character his really dead or if there’s a chance his wounds were not fatal and he returns, Harrington said: ‘I’ve been told I’m dead. I’m dead. I’m not coming back next season. So that’s all I can tell you, really.’ http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/game...on-1201519627/

  • "I've been told" - hmmm...
  • "I'm not coming back" - As in Kit Harrington or Jon Snow? Remember, the resurrected character's name is not Jon Snow.
  • "...next season" - hmmm... Bran Stark's character took a season off (along with Hodor, and others). Possible to be gone but not gone.
Most importantly, there is a tradition with the cast, that when an actor's character is killed off, they get a parting gift from the producers. Kit, not thinking let it slip, that he didn't get a parting gift at the end of the season. That's probably one of the most important clues. More here...

My feeling is that Sansa and Theon have lived in Winterfell their whole lives. They'd know if that snow was deep enough for a plunge.

rice_classic 06-15-2015 06:20 PM

I read the same article in Variety and I was basing it off this line:

Quote:

“We did the Tony Soprano walk (tell an actor they’re going to die). And they said, ‘Look, you’re gone, it’s done.'”
So yes, the Jon Snow we know that played by Harrington looks to be gone so if Jon Snow is resurrected it would then be another actor presumably.

I could see it working out this way too. Or maybe it'll be some CG version with Kit's voice, if the dude is a magical creature or (kind of like the Night's King).

I get it, I couldn't watch Breaking Bad the first time I tried and haven't gone back yet. Though I will try.

But this has dragons and snow zombies, so I'm well aware that it is fantasy drama and not real drama, the impact is lessened and ignoring the brutality of humanity does nothing to prevent it, there exists monstrosities as bad or worse in our own history books and reported daily as you so rightly note.

There are complex characters and motives at work, even the most wicked villain on first glance is sympathetic a few episodes later and the knight in shining armor in one moment is revealed to be monstrous in another and you can watch his/her heart shatter in another, nobody is truly evil (except a few) or pure-hearted.

Sadly there are some character's grossly simplified and turned into shallow caricatures from the books but there's more than enough good to be entertained for most.

Good point, I've never met a snow zombie. I've never met anything snow alive in the first place, such that it could become dead in order to become undead.

Honestly, it's just not my kind of show. I'm sure I could get into it if I felt like it, but only so much time and... eh. Maybe some day, maybe not. If it's a good story I could see it happening... then again, you said books? Maybe I should read that - far more my speed.

I could always read my family history, parts of it definitely ring true. It was a messy time back then.

i started when season 2 was wrapping up and went in thinking "Meh, I'm not really into this 'genre' but whatever I'll check out a few episodes..."

Probably my favorite show now, lol

You know how I know I'm not optimistic humanist? Because I read that post, which was funny btw, and I thought to myself: "Strip away any pretense of modern law and order and you've pretty much defined the natural human condition, in which the world, for humans, is both incredibly ugly and unsafe because of... other humans."

Or more succinctly: "I'm stronger than you, give me that." Then elaborate and extrapolate from there...

The first three books are on par with anything fantasy/sci-fi ever released, top notch. Then he got enough clout to overrule his editor and the finished products (books 4 & 5) suffered from a lack of pruning.

Get out of here now and avoid spoilers, there are some great moments that will loose all impact if you know about them beforehand. And the books are in more shades of gray, the show's interpretation of certain moments leaves a lot to be desired imo. Still a very good adaptation, but that's typically not the highest bar.

He'll be resurrected by the red witch .. the timing of her return is no coincidence. (of all places for her to go ?) Of course the 'Jon Snow' character is dead... He'll come back as some sort of Fire God Zombie Killer ! (Killing all of the Night watch assheads .... especially Olly ) Maybe future battle with Cersi's undead mountain ?
