I just signed up for intermediate :) we need more events at DDT :)

Skurj 06-14-2015 01:46 PM

I hope to be there again, I've attended the last 3 track days that the SPDA has put on at the DDT. My first I was a complete noob. If you've always wanted to see what driving on the track is like, this is the cheapest, safest, best way to do it.

Here's some footage of the track: (oops likely won't be this layout.. the kink will be in place down the back straight)

n0thing 06-14-2015 02:03 PM

Is there any extra charge for bringing a passenger along?

Skurj 06-14-2015 02:18 PM

nope, they just need to sign the waiver.

n0thing 06-14-2015 03:19 PM

Is there helmet rental available?

sergiomordo 06-14-2015 03:24 PM

They had loaners available first event. Lots of extras. This time i bought a helmet so more chance u can find a loaner :)

I believe one of the sponsors usually provides a few helmets. If you have any friends that ride bikes.. they may have Snell 05+ helmets they might lend.. At the track on a hot day in july.. the loaners may get a bit ripe.. just sayin...

drewbot 06-14-2015 04:11 PM

Signed up again :)

See you all again

n0thing 06-14-2015 04:20 PM

Signed up and submitted payment for Beginner.

Last question, only paid participants may run the Alligator Lapping or even friends/families too?

Anyone can come for the ride I think for the alligator lapping, they may have to sign a waiver not sure..

Anyone can come ride along for alligator lapping, and the usual rules (helmets and age limits) don't apply due to the slower pace.

Anyone going in the hot pit lane (not parking lot) or out on track needs to sign the waiver, but it's free!

There is about half a dozen loaner helmets, but we try to keep those available for the beginner run group. If we find that there's extras (or they're returned before the beginner run group) then there's more flexibility. As mentioned they might get pretty sweaty, especially in july.

Woot, registering ASAP.

Edit: still haven't received membership # yet...just punched in zero for now

wparsons 06-14-2015 07:28 PM

You weren't kidding about ASAP :D

Don't worry about the member # at this point, I saw the payment come through for that earlier.

drewbot 06-15-2015 08:19 AM

Also @wparsons send out a special thanks to whomever made the registration process way more streamlined and whomever got the lunches back :)

wparsons 06-15-2015 12:11 PM

The message on the lunches was loud and clear at the last one!

A couple members (they're actually brothers) made the new page for registration, one of them will be at the lapping day if you want to high five him in person. :D

mabviper 06-15-2015 02:28 PM

Done! Registered

bottle 06-15-2015 03:07 PM

Registered for intermediate. Forgot to put my membership number and also forgot to put my name in the PayPal payment. Hopefully got sorted out, thanks!

Gords_zenith 06-16-2015 11:01 AM

Paid! I forgot to mention in the Paypal that I paid for July 12. But see you there, this will be my first time on a track but I'm not a noob to fast speeds - I think I want to keep my licence a bit longer....lol

wparsons 06-16-2015 12:19 PM

No worries, if you pay by the PayPal form after filling in the registration it automatically adds what event it is for.

Thanks. If I wanted to buy a helmet, anything in particular I need to look for? Obviously DOT approved but snell rating of some sort? Otherwise I'll have to borrow a helmet.

Most likely whatever you're running for AutoX will work too

wparsons 06-16-2015 03:42 PM

Get snell rated for sure, it gives you more flexibility in the future. Some groups are ok with DOT only, some require snell.

If you can find one you like for a price you're ok with, a snell SA is best because it's rated for use in vehicles with a roll cage. Difference being a snell M is made to take a single impact in a crash, an SA is designed to take multiple impacts off a rollcage in a crash.

My SA2010 was about $300 taxes in, you can definitely get a snell M rated for less if you shop around though.

And whatever you do, don't buy a 2005 rated helmet, they're expired as of the end of this year.

Kazuya 06-16-2015 04:20 PM

Really tempted to join, 215+300 for helmet 😫

wparsons 06-16-2015 04:22 PM

There are a few loaner helmets, but they might get sweaty through the day.

You can definitely get a cheaper helmet, I knew I was going to want to be in caged cars so I spent more on mine.

Royal distributing apparently has good deals on Snell M rated helmets all the time.

just signed up for the beginner class but forgot to add my name/email in the paypal payment, will i be ok?

wparsons 06-22-2015 08:05 AM

Unless you use a fake name on your paypal account, it's fine. I did see one for an FRS come through this morning (or late last night).

yup! that was me :D

infinity21 06-22-2015 01:00 PM

I'm guessing that intermediate spot was still open? Signed up just now and the payment went through.

wparsons 06-22-2015 01:46 PM

Jesung? You got the last one.

wparsons 06-22-2015 01:58 PM

Slight change of plans, intermediate expanded! No one lost spots, but there is some more room again.

Sweet. Thanks!

n0thing 06-24-2015 11:50 AM

Will we be taking turns like every 15 cars for few laps? Just curious as I didn't attend the previous event.

wparsons 06-24-2015 01:19 PM

Nope, it's pre-defined run groups.

15 minute sessions per group for most of the day, the first two sessions will be different to accomodate more in class time for the beginner group, then making up for it the next session.

Kazuya 06-25-2015 01:37 AM

register this afternoon, can i get a confirmation? intermediate here!

drewbot 06-25-2015 08:58 AM

Anyone here running in Advanced or Instructor with an aftermarket header? I would like to get a ride along to see how loud they are in cabin

wparsons 06-25-2015 06:44 PM

@BatStig will be there, in the advanced group. He's got the JDL EL catted (IIRC), and Perrin cat back.
@Trac Toy will be there, in the instructor group. He's got an OFH and Invidia N1. It's loud.

As @wparsons said, I'll be there. You're more than welcome to come for a spin to hear the lovely noises my car makes. My only stipulation is that you please wait until after the first session. I was there last Friday and I wasn’t at my best. I need to exercise some demons first!
