And everything about it is ferocious. The pull and the sound demands your full attention when you’re up at such high RPMs, and although the car still behaves as an 86 should, it’s definitely not the sort of machine you can drive fast, lazily. It’s a true driver’s car that demands your full attention.

I really have to wonder how much this costs. It's too perfect.

megamarines 06-14-2015 04:19 AM

Wait. Nevermind. $70K? Fuck. That.

Omg give the car to Keiichi Tsuchiya at Gunsai touge

The only thing i don't like is 197ft-lb at 8000rpm. Seems a bit...low. Even though this engine does seem to rev quite fast.

I do love this choice however, it will be great to see further development.

I'd like to see an Ariel Atom V8 in one.

30% more torque at 500RPM past the FA20s redline. That equals some serious power. It is only a 2.4L after all.

Still not as stout as this.

"This Atom’s heart is a 3.0-liter, DOHC V-8 engine built by Hartley Enterprises in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Race-derived components include dry-sump lubrication, a flat-plane crankshaft, forged pistons, and eight individual throttle bodies. In road tune, the engine produces 475 hp at 10,500 rpm and 268 lb-ft of torque at 7750 rpm; in race tune, it’s capable of 500 hp at 10,600 rpm and 284 lb-ft at 7750 rpm."

With almost twice the performance. I'd take either one if you forced me.

I Like it!

Shady195 06-16-2015 10:35 AM

Doing this in something, in anything is a goal of mine I wish to achieve at somepoint in my life. However the fact that they make a kit now that just drops it right into the GT86 makes me giddy.

It won't be anytime soon, but I have 0 plans of ever getting rid of Charlotte. Hopefully someday I'll be well off enough to do something this drastic.

8R6 06-16-2015 11:55 AM

damn. that is an amazing piece of machinery

Iceman 06-16-2015 07:38 PM

Perfect build.

What is the squeaky sound on braking?

Racing brakes will squeak, especially when cold. They usually quiet down once warmed up properly, but that's not always doable on the street.

Yeah I don't see how anybody can get excited at all at $70k + another $30 for the car. $100k can be spent much more wiser.
A new Z06 seems like a bargain compared to this and it will walk all over it too...comfortably and with a warranty.

Racing pads as someone else said, track ones tend to do that because on the street it's very difficult to get them up to temp unless you flog the car. They squeal at lower temps because the compounds/metals involved are much more aggressive

That's the thing that gets me. How can anyone, not just get exited, but justify paying that much.

You could get much more for your money than this. Not that it's not awesome,it's just that the price point isn't very economically sound.

Maybe it's like the race to walk on the moon in that you want to be the first one(or in this case the second) and throwing $25.4 billion in 1973 at it to get there was worth it to say you were the first.
A lot of engine builders revel in the fact that they are the first to put some engine in a car that wasn't meant for it. Somebody has to be the ones to overpay for it in the beginning.

very true - 100k can by some very nice cars (like a Z06).

But, if you did have this v8 swap from synergy I doubt there would be too many other people in your city that had this done.

*that doesn't justify the $ by any means
