beware! Not all Frs owners are friendly

Took a drive on the 5 south in Irvine and seen a white out Frs. I got excited and wanted to give a thumbs up to the owner since I have not seen one in my area. I caught up to the Frs hook my horn, drove in front of them, and drove next to them to get their attention. A few miles later I gave up trying to get their attention. The worst part of the story was it was a middle age women who had that look like her s**t don't stink and was driving like she was the only one that owned the Frs in the oc. To top it all off she was texting while drive, cutting people off, and driving 60 mph and the blasting it to 90 mph.

All I have to say to this women is what a Bitch u don't deserve that car.:mad0260:

I wouldnt say this is limited to FRS owners. Ive tried to give thumbs up on several occasions just to show appreciation and sometimes i just get blown off much like you did... maybe its because of the corolla?

mines13 06-17-2012 08:46 PM

Not everyone is going to give a crap about this car even if they own one. She probably liked how it looked and liked the price. I would not get too worked up about it.

baldolera 06-17-2012 08:55 PM

Well, it was going to happen. It happens with every car, considering how many units are made, and how many people buy them.

soconfoozed 06-17-2012 09:11 PM

OP, for what it's worth, it sounds like in your enthusiasm, you were being obnoxious.

I would be a bit annoyed if somebody honked and circled me like you describe.

Mr. Mcoupe 06-17-2012 09:23 PM

haha!!! that is great

Pscylo 06-17-2012 09:33 PM

Some people aren't car people. I give props when I see classics, or rebuilds that I know took alot of time/money. I usually don't bother with ppl driving higher end cars, its about status more often than not for them, not love of the ride.

GinDo 06-17-2012 09:39 PM

Well I know the dealerships in my area have been spit lies about how exclusive the FRS is. I had one guy tell me that only "50" were coming to the US. I told him to stop bullshitting me and I showed him this forum off of my phone. Showed him all the flipping threads about people and their FRS', and the thread about getting the FRS at msrp.

He literally shut up.

Unfortunately, there is gonna be those retards who eat that crap up, and pay up the 6k mark-up. Then they drive around like they own an SLR Mclaren.

I've grown so cynical toward people with nice cars, that i don't even make eye-contact or acknowledge them-- they always seem to already be so far up their own asses. But i presume that may just be most of the people in my particular area.

_hollywood 06-17-2012 10:44 PM

I expected it to be like the ITR was for me, but in reality those days are gone and i get a couple nods here and there but honestly 98% of people dont notice or care really...

I did get a thumbs up from a guy in a 2012 bmw x5. Haha. I would trade straight up if he wanted......lol

To be honest I'll probably be one of these "unfriendly" owners. At most I'll give a wave but unless its an organized meeting I don't talk to people passing by and I hate that every other person has to ask me about this car.

What was the response you were looking for? Just acknowledgement?

It's funny though because I find more and more middle aged women driving sports cars, and 9 times out of 10 they are texting and driving completely oblivious(Scares the hell out of me tbh).

Grow up little man

stalon320 06-17-2012 11:43 PM

when I was a kid.. I had a couple of Mustangs. When I would see another owner I'd flash my lights.. or give a thumbs up.. and I ALWAYS got a response.. positive ones. lol Today, its different. When i had my 05 tC.. some people would respond.. but most had no idea what I was doing. Its like they had no idea that the car is special.. I'm not sure if its a generational thing.. or people just not being car people.. But whi knows....lol. Keep doing what you are doing.. there will be other like minded people out there.. and you know what?? Screw the rest.. They may have money to buy the car.. but may not truly love or understand just what they have in their hands.. :)

Godzilla 06-17-2012 11:59 PM

lol, maybe she is driving her son's car.

ozne99 06-18-2012 12:15 AM

OP needs to grow a pair and stop being a 13 year old girl. Why was this thread necessary?

Calidrifter 06-18-2012 12:19 AM

^^ Thank you.

I know there's a button for this kind of thing but this one time it needed to be written out.

GenkiElite 06-18-2012 01:12 AM

Unfortunately this car is going to attract single middle aged women just like Gen coupe.

Back in 04 and 05 the Scion tC WAS Special.. It wasn't common to see one.. and the people that bought one were people who were "in the know" about the value of the car. It came with alot of features (panoramic moonroof, Sat radio, etc.) and it really was a great value for the money. I used to say it was very similar to when I had Mustangs.. at least when i talked with other owners who were car people..
