How many miles can I milk out of the stock tires?

@ 30K now. How many more can I expect? Anyone??

raven1231 06-10-2015 08:07 PM

Depends if you drive like a jackass or not..as well as a million other factors

30,001 if you drive it right :burnrubber:

Djratrap 06-10-2015 09:34 PM

I'm almost at 60k, tires still have a lot of tread left.

This makes me happy to see!

I presume those 60k included the occasional spirited drive?

Occasional canyon/coastal run, but nothing crazy.

extrashaky 06-10-2015 09:56 PM

The stock tires are guaranteed for 45,000 miles. I'm at 39K now with plenty of tread left. I should easily make it to 50K at least.

ntron1 06-10-2015 10:28 PM

Thanks all.

dodj 06-10-2015 11:12 PM

17.5k on mine now. Plan to have then finished up by 25k.

RL_BRZ 06-11-2015 12:30 AM

I have 35K miles and plenty of thread left...

Gunman 06-11-2015 07:20 AM

About 25k miles, and I'm just at the wear bars.

jknakes 06-11-2015 09:41 AM

i must really drive like a jackass. i'm around 15k and don't think i'll get more than another 5k out of them.

BRZZZZZZZZZZ 06-11-2015 09:43 AM

I sold mine at 42...km.

GotBRZ1691 06-11-2015 10:09 AM

Im at 34k, and counting....

... on the second set of stock tires...

STV3 06-11-2015 10:28 AM

I'm at 20k on the stockers and put them through some good punishment. Still have a about 65% tread left I'd say.

Scenic Driver 06-11-2015 12:42 PM

I got around 25k out of mine

Respect BRZ 06-11-2015 12:52 PM

I'm at 41k miles and still have decent tread above the wear bars. I've done a lot of hwy driving over the last 2 years.

I'm at 29k and they're at 5/10 and 6/10. I take a lot of cross country drives so lots of highway miles.

nivek111070 06-11-2015 03:51 PM

25k and plenty of tread, but they are getting slicker "hard" so my dry traction has tanked, as if that was needed

86Tony 06-11-2015 05:10 PM

These tires last for ever even on track days

bdbx18 06-22-2015 06:49 PM

I'm at 35k miles, about 20 miles a day in canyons alone where I occasionally go sideways. I wished it'll wear a bit faster as I'm looking for an excuse to go sp sports. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll last at least 50k.

CarzCarzCarz 06-22-2015 07:07 PM

Wow, how are you all getting so many miles on the stock tires? I guess autox and a supercharger are my culprits since I'm barely at 7k.

cdq85 06-22-2015 07:23 PM

this thread really puts my jackassery into perspective as I only got ~16K out of mine. sorry for partying?

edit: they had a little life left in them but heading into winter I just dumped them.

I got just over 16k on mine too. They were asking for it. I have to admit it was fun to hate a set of tires enough to want to destroy them. I got more miles out of the michelin pilot sport A/S+ that replaced them.

KelvinBRZ 06-23-2015 03:45 AM

34,919 miles and still 4/32 tread on them, but replaced with MPSS A/S 3

(Currently selling all 4 of my OEM stock tires for $50, excuse this shameless plug. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90410)

SamGam 06-23-2015 04:10 AM

I heard these are the same tires on the Prius? Can say I doubt it they're so tall and "economy" looking, elaborate treat pattern and not much contact area.

Someone with much more knowledge, please correct me if I'm wrong with the following:

These tires are the performance tires for the Japanese Prius, not the Prius here in the States.

You are incorrect. It is a violation of Man Law to use Performance and Prius in the same sentence.

EAGLE5 06-23-2015 11:21 AM

10k and cording all 4 corners.

Dino451 07-26-2015 01:24 PM

31k Miles....but not by choice. I had two punctures within two months, the last puncture was not fixable. Michelin PSS's were on within 12 hours

But had lots of tread left over though

EAGLE5 07-26-2015 08:48 PM

My second set, PSS, lasted about 9k. Thank you, chip seal.

computeruser 07-26-2015 09:33 PM

I've never owned a set of car tires that still rode worth a damn after 20k miles, even with regular rotation.

Ganthrithor 07-27-2015 12:51 AM

Hahaha, I'm at 30k mi too... I'm on my third set of tyres, and that's without doing any kind of track or autox work :P

Seriously though I wouldn't try to hold onto those stock tyres for too long. IIRC when I retired mine they still had some tread depth left, but they were starting to feel like drift trike wheels-- no grip at all, and not a progressive break-away either.

Kwisak 07-27-2015 02:26 PM

I was at 45k when I changed.

Mx5racer 07-28-2015 01:49 AM

Hopefully I can get new rims and tires before 1K so I will never know

mixedjuice 08-21-2015 05:58 PM

Michelin Super Sport Tires or the Michelin Super Sport A/S version.?
which is recommended best?
I read that the MSS handle better in the wet.

EAGLE5 08-21-2015 06:35 PM

You ever going to be in light snow? A/S. Otherwise, regular.

ashtray 08-21-2015 07:18 PM

I got 4k miles out of mine before replacing them with MPSS. That said they're continuing life on my WRX - which at 500lbs heavier and AWD, I don't expect to see 45k miles out of them - but we'll see.

Thanks - I think i am leaning towards MSS and will just run my wife's legacy sport once the first snow hits the ground.
I'm still on m stock wheel set up for now (1,005 miles) and will see if i can let the tires loose a little before going for a 18" set up.

I'm going for the ASA GT10 Hyper Silver Wheels with the Super Sport Tires on 92Y

Its not just snow - temps drop in to the 30's, even in the dry, and your tires will lose grip. Just fyi.
