DFW caravan on 8-7-15 to 3rd Annual Texas FT86 meet

This thread is for everyone in DFW or surrounding area interested in attending the 3rd Annual Texas FT86 day! It is NOT an actual cruise, just an organized drive down to the meet.

For those unfamiliar with last year, here is the thread (the first post shows the actual times and stops we made): http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69847

With that being said leaving earlier on Friday is better as we will have to deal with less traffic through out the drive, especially in the Austin area. Last year we hit Austin around 5ish and dealt with rush hour. I think the best scenario for us is to leave the southern DFW area around 12-1 at the latest.

**UPDATED** (as of 8/4/15)

MEETING TIME: NOON

Here is a map with our current planned route:

https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?h...E.kyNy34N2nL2M

This map says it will take 5 hours and 41 minutes @ 312 miles.

The map shows our:
1. Meeting point (I20 and Great SW PKWY@ Kroger parking lot) this is just as an idea, I tried to find a south central location in DFW.
2. Stop in West at the Czech stop (104 South George Kacir Drive, West, TX 76691)
3. Lime Creek
4. Meeting point for t-shirts and possibly dinner, Toyota of Boerne, 31205 Interstate 10 Frontage Road Boerne, TX 78006

If you are interested let me know in the thread so I can add you to the list below and we can have an idea of how many people are looking to go and start coordinating.

Interested:
@Shneegle
@carbonBLUE
@Dustin
@Ramster
@Texaz Boy
@ZachTTerrell
@Rulin
I will always do my best to update this thread when I can! :thanks:

Texaz Boy 06-13-2015 10:30 PM

I'm down

ZachTTerrell 06-14-2015 01:06 AM

I'm a maybe!! I'm driving down to waco that day to spend the night so I might tag along

carbonBLUE 06-14-2015 12:48 PM

Will it be the same route as last year? Do you guys want to go to the salt lick instead of getting pie at blue bonnet? I'm open to suggestions. Austin is a hot spot for home made food you can't quite get anywhere else.

I'm open to whatever, last year when I proposed the route we took it was mainly to avoid 35 lol. I thought the route was pretty fun and easy to navigate but we can take the same route but just turn off on 1431 in marble falls to hit lime creek and then head to Austin or do 35 or something else?

I edited this map with salt lick at the end just to see. Is this the right salt lick? I didn't realize it was that far south of Austin lol

I still want to hit up lime creek as our warm up before twisted sisters the next day. Any chance of adding that to the route?

can you change the beginning to start location -> 360 -> 157 -> 66 -> 308 -> I35E south

Those are a bit twisty and would be a good start to our journey :)

Yeah that's good enough, just as a side note. Cops are spotty along that route, so sometimes they are present and sometimes they aren't . I know everyone will be anxious for Saturday. If you want your warm up for Saturday, do it at lime creek!

ZachTTerrell 07-08-2015 02:11 PM

So as of right now, we're taking 35?

As of right now yes. I changed the beginning of the route to what @carbonBLUE suggested. This will still take us to 35 we will just get there a little further south (just north of Hillsboro area)

Alright sounds good. I'm peeling off at Temple anyways

carbonBLUE 07-10-2015 06:25 AM

What time are we departing? I have a doctors appointment I need to schedule. I will also be celebrating being 1 year cancer free on this trip! Woo hoo. Those who remember I was heavily medicated last trip and very talkative on the radios lol

Extreme86 07-10-2015 07:37 AM

You guys are gonna have an adventure just driving down here! And, talking about the Salt Lick, The Czechstop ... yum.

I would say noon maybe a little after. I know that's what we aimed for last year. If everyone says that works for them then I say we go with it!

And congrats!! I can't think of a better way to celebrate!:burnrubber:

Haha that's our plan! Hopefully we have no one go into a food coma after our late lunch stop lol

Rulin 07-11-2015 05:50 PM

If I can make it to the event, I will definitely be coming along on the caravan. Just not quite sure if I'm going to be out of town that weekend, yet.
