2017 = more power

Rumour has it , that 2017 86 will have 5% more power and 7% better fuel economy.
No news on torque gains or if this also applies to brz.

raven1231 05-16-2015 07:43 PM

For fucks sake....

celica73 05-16-2015 07:44 PM

Well that's disappointing. That can be done with a different tune. It certainly wouldn't get me into the dealership to trade the car.

alan.chalkley 05-16-2015 07:51 PM

I just like the 7% better fuel economy with a slight power increase.
Down under we sometimes have a loong distance between fuel stations , so any reduction in fuel usage and/or bigger tank is a plus to extend the range between fuel stops.

Dr. BRZ 05-17-2015 11:35 PM

I call shit! Where is the article you read this from?

Bobblehead 05-17-2015 11:44 PM

I don't know what's more irritating:

The people who make up these rumors,
The people who are fooled by them,
Or myself for always clicking on threads like this.

So you are saying that they sell it with an OFT Stage 1 tune installed from the factory?

Believe they are redoing the intake design. My source is from subaruwrxfan on YT though and I'm not sure where he got his source.

chaoskaze 05-18-2015 12:26 AM

Didn't see any news about this on Asian site... So yaa

Dimman 05-18-2015 01:03 AM

Are you sure? That seems a little low for the new 2017 turbo model.

I heard through my brother's girlfriend's sister's mother's friend's cousin that the 2017 brz will have 4000% more power, 5 turbos and be completely constructed from carbon fibre.

rlpaul 05-18-2015 08:55 AM

Not carbon fiber, unobtanium!

The three types of people are.
1/PPL that make things happen.
2/PPL that watch things happening.
3/PPL that ask what happened.

Bergen23 05-24-2015 09:52 AM

Well, they're going to need the extra bit of power to make the AWD work perfectly on the '17s

I heard that the model we are all driving was only intended as a stopgap. Originally the twins were supposed to be fitted with a twin turbo rotary V10 with direct drive V-Tec. Sadly, they couldn't make it streetable. Eight teenagers died in the testing stages alone. As a result the Chinese cut a deal with Subaru for a new engine in exchange for some islands that Japan wanted. But a friend of mine who works at Subaru told me (and don't go spreading this around because it's still classified) that they finally got the twin turbo V-Tec V12 engine de-tuned to the point that it's safe for the street, and will be available in the 2017 model year GT86.

Ultramaroon 05-24-2015 08:09 PM

It's true. I heard the same thing.

take the cannoli 05-26-2015 06:36 AM

An ex government agent told me: scion is collaborating with nasa and boeing to design nuclear fusion powered rockets for the 2017 model year and will feature a cusco sourced lsd. Spy shots from the viking landers show it drifting through the martian mariner valley touge. 2018 might have a rocket bunny kit optional and a turbo

How the FUCK did I miss this threads for so long!
Oh wait it is in the Tech Section where it doesn't belong in the first place.

Really? I heard it was a twin superturbo charged duramax cummins W9 with VTAK and VVTi at the same time. When they both kick in at once, youll hit 88 mph and go back to the future. I think the flux capacitor is standard now. I know the 1.81 gijawatts is!!

Well the Mr Fusion was supposed to come out this year but I haven't seen it yet (or the hover board for that matter) and plutonium is still way to expensive so I guess it makes sense it is pushed out to 2017.

It is about time the Swedish model clone plant putout twins version.

Captain Snooze 05-26-2015 07:04 AM

Rumour rhymes with tumor. Doesn't rhyme with whore.

Captain Snooze 05-26-2015 07:06 AM

Whore rhymes with bore, as in I want to bore out that whore.

Captain Snooze 05-26-2015 07:08 AM

Bacon and egg sandwich doesn't rhyme with I've got a hand in my pocket playing jingle bells.
