Deep sounding cat-back to suit catless UEL headers
 

Hi all, looking for a deep exhaust to suit Tomei UEL headers and catted front pipe. It's hard looking through videos on youtube of heaps of different catbacks, as many are just on stock headers.

So i'm looking for something deep, with no rasp or drone. Beofre it's mentioned, yes I have heard the Q300 and perrin resonated with UEL headers, both sound very raspy when revving. Any ideas?

Neither sound raspy? I own the Q300 knock off and there is zero rasp with UEL cat less headers? Maybe it's the recording or perhaps the tomei as I have Borla?

Perrin resonated raspy when revving? Mine isn't at all. Unless you heard someone with a catless front pipe, then possibly, but neither of the catbacks you mentioned are raspy normally with a catless UEL header and a catted front pipe.

i'm not asking for a debate on whether or not these are raspy, I have already stated in the original post that I do not want either of these exhausts

No idea man I have a full catless setup too. I'll post a video later. The Ikon motorsports exhaust could have a different resonator.

That's a clip of a Perrin non-resonated CBE. The resonated version makes a huge difference in terms of rasp - I've had both. Just an FYI.

Not sure why, but that setup sounds a bit raspier than others I've heard including my own. I think these clips are probably more accurate.

The videos that you linked, something isn't matching up, like someone said one is an unresonated one.

The ones just above this post are more accurate. The Perrin and Q300 are two of the most popular exhausts for this car in regards to sounding great with a catless header, or really super quiet.


If I find some time, I could video my setup with the JDL UEL, JDL OP, JDL catted FP, and Perrin 2.5" resonated. There isn't a hint of rasp throughout the entire rev band.

Dezod Motorsports 2.5" catback. Resonated and has two sport mufflers. Zero rasp or drone with 2.5" catted front pipe, 2.5" overpipe and JDL uel catless header.

Invidia N1 with stock catted front pipe is my preferred option.

I have the Greddy Supreme Sp cat back. Granted I do have a catted UEL header, but I think this exhaust is pretty good at eliminating rasp.

My gopro had some bad rattle in its case in the second video near the start and a few places unfortunately

Feel free to look at my build thread with the on and off track videos with JDL UEL header with Nameless and Q300 exhausts. The Q300 isn't as raspy when driving vs standing still and reving.

Zeta Performance has a really quiet exhaust modeled after the fujitsubo design. :)

The greddy axleback will work as well as the Perrin and Q300 and is only an AB, so not as expensive.

HOWEVER, the rasp is coming from your header and needs to be eliminated. That isn't solved with mufflers and midpipe resonator alone.

I solved the issue by getting a hemholtz resonated front pipe. THAT knocks out the rasp. Drone is fixed with a good midpipe resonator and good muffler.

2.5 inch Perrin Headerback, Catted and Resonated with catless openflash headers is the tits. I HATE rasp and I was really worried before putting on the headers but there is literally none. When I'm cruising on the freeway, you can barely tell there is UEL. Give it anything more than 10% throttle and you get rumbles. You should really find some examples to listen to IRL. The videos you posted sound like crap and seem to only pick up the mid and high frequency sound coming out.

Sounds really good! I am looking at options to quiet down my setup after going full JDL 3" which is not worth it. I'm looking to purchase the Greddy Supreme SP, but I have the JDL catless header. Not sure if the sound will still be overbearing. How is the noise level in your cabin?

I can barely tell I have an exhaust system lol. It's actually more audible at crusing levels then at wot. At wot the sound of the motor is louder than my exhaust. Also there is zero drone.

I am now looking at Perrin as an option. @Cjymiller are all your other pipes stock other than the catless header and Perrin resonated headerback?

My car with Gruppe-S UEL and 2.5 Resonated Perrin C/B sounds just like the video. Everything else is stock.

Magnaflow cat-back had a great beautiful deep rumble when paired with a Tomei header on my car. That sound is the only thing I miss since going turbo.

I have JDL headers with ultra quiet front pipe and 3" perrin resonated catback. No issues with rasp or drone. It's loud at wot but not deafening

You probably have catted headers though, right?

Catless header. Just a HFC in the front pipe.

Try this one on for size, I've heard a Tomei UEL with the ISIS catback and it sounded fantastic, very deep/mature sound and I heard no drone when I road along.
This is with the JDL UEL instead but the sound is extremely similar. DSPORT Mag also said that this was a great sounding catback, especially for the flow it demonstrated in their tests. DSport did notice some minor fitment issues but since it's soooo much less expensive than its competitors…you'll still save a bunch of money even if you have to have a shop adjust the hangars, and that thing sounds great. I plan on picking one up for myself eventually but for now I can basically only hear it at Cars and Coffee.

Doesn't sound raspy in person. Not sure about the video. Feel like N1 paired with Tomei may sound better. But here's mine. 1320 uel, 1320 op, invidia catless frontpipe, invidia n1. Full catless, feel like an ass when I step on it. Cruising really isn't bad at all my the rumble is lovely.
