Bad Grandpa Road Trip...

1 Attachment(s)
Yes, i have a new assignment in Sacramento, California. I'm going to do the 2500 mile Interstate 80 drive from Brookville, Pennsylvania in my hot lava Bad Grandpa FR-S. Departing Brookville on Wednesday, May 13th and arriving in Sacramento on Sunday, May 17th with layovers in Joliet Illinois, Lincoln Nebraska, Rawlins Wyoming, and Elko Nevada. 425 to 520 miles each day with one food, fuel and rest stop per day. Hope to see some of you along the trail.

You don't worry about putting stickers on your paint?

Shedd22 05-07-2015 03:14 PM

Enjoy the trip. Be safe.

Tectoniic 05-07-2015 03:16 PM

Best of luck on a safe drive!

I'm on 80 fairly regularly so maybe i'll see you

carma143 05-07-2015 03:33 PM

I was expecting you to complain about some long, boring road trip with a grumpy grandpa that would have otherwise been amazing.

I feel like I might have seen you earlier...I passed by a Hot Lava today, with a black hood.

Maybe it wasn't you, but thought i'd ask!

No, they'll peel off. A little goo gone will easily remove any residual adhesive. When you apply them use some soapy water so they'll slide around till you get them right where you want them. When the water evaporates it'll be stuck. I autocrossed my car last weekend and cut my numbers and class letters from adhesive backed vinyl. Pulled them off the next day. What little adhesive stayed with the car came off when i washed it. No harm. No foul.

I don't get it… Shitty movie, by the way.

Gunman 05-07-2015 08:38 PM

That's less than a 29 hour drive, if done right, LOL

Drive safe and see you when you get here!

Gunman 05-08-2015 07:15 AM

I've considered a CB, they still work, and truckers still provide good road info when traveling.

86geek 05-08-2015 02:33 PM

SmartedPanda 05-08-2015 02:35 PM

It's a little warm in Sacramento, just a FYI, top off those fluids.

Also, can you bring us some water?

no recent response from grandpa....guess he already left on his trip, or fell asleep at his computer.

Packofcrows 05-11-2015 01:43 AM

Careful in CA. Sac CHP been stricter lately. CA in general. 65-76mph tops.

lonborghini 05-14-2015 10:33 PM

West Bound and Down..........

:party0030::Bad grandpa checking in from Lincoln, Nebraska. All going according to plan. CB always comes in handy for bear reports. I tried the Waze app today. It sucked my Blackberry's battery dry. Had to do CPR on my phone. Worked great for three hours though. A nice supplement to the radar detector and CB radio, but just not for such long periods. Big run tomorrow to Rawlins, Wyoming. Yee hah!

humfrz 05-14-2015 11:52 PM

Drive careful .........;)

I'm just 5 hours away.

Do stop by, enjoy the winding roads of the Lost Coast, Redwoods as well, if you have the time.

Have a wonderful and safe trip.

Pics are: 1 (Barry Rd.) Kneeland, Ca. 2 Shelter Cove (view south), Ca. 3 Shelter Cove (view north), Ca. 4 Lost Coast, Humboldt cty, Ca. (Mattole Rd. near Steamboat Rock). 5 Trinidad, Ca. (above College Cove Beach)

Thanks ToySub1946. That looks like a great drive. I'll put it on my bucket list. It 's been getting pretty empty.

Yeah, that's why i wanted to bring mine out. So here are a few stats:

Total distance in 5 days: 2589 miles including probably 20 miles wandering
around in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Moving average speed: 72 miles per hour
Mileage: 31 miles per gallon
Top Speed: 125 miles per hour (only for a second and somewhere
between here and there - stable and still pulling.)
Observation: Cruise control will hold at no more than 91 mph.
Conclusion: Driving thousand of interstate highway miles in an
FR-S is a pleasure.
