Heavier? The only extra weight I saw was from the backup cam, and that's next to nothing.

Not sure how that would add any extra weight. I'm curious about that new blue color, and those silver trim pieces may be nice. All in all, nice upgrades but a lot of people aren't going to be happy that it's not suddenly got 30+ whp.

Yeah, that was my point. Less than 1lb.

wootwoot 04-30-2015 03:57 PM

Turbo!!! It's about time. Sucks for all you early adopters!

fang_gt86 04-30-2015 04:01 PM

I'm seeing many sad faces.

BRZZZZZZZZZZ 04-30-2015 04:11 PM

No bueno.

MokSpeed 04-30-2015 04:17 PM

1st gen values will not drop due to facelift model. I approve.

2much 04-30-2015 04:17 PM

makes me happy. I wish they would stop making them to be honest

strat61caster 04-30-2015 04:33 PM

lmao, here's to 12 months of "I'm waiting for the 2017 model! *insert rumor*"

Mr.Impreza 04-30-2015 04:34 PM

Honestly, considering sales are struggling for the 2015...2016's don't look like they will sell any better...maybe 2016 is the last year?

It seems like they are just milking this car out as much as they can

airjonny 04-30-2015 04:37 PM

Yea those silver trim pieces are really going to shoot up sales....god Toyota and Subaru are too good at trolling.

Zhangy 04-30-2015 04:38 PM

I'm gonna steal a rearview off a 2016 and putting in on mine!

asdf 04-30-2015 04:39 PM

Wonder if that reverse camera will be better than aftermarket options out. Hmm

soulreapersteve 04-30-2015 05:24 PM

Maybe the local dealerships will take a grand or 2 off the old models now that the 2016 is coming out. Perfect for my cheap behind :)

That is, if the BRZ test drive this weekend won't shift my feelings away from it.

thill 04-30-2015 05:29 PM

No turbo!!!
No AWD!!!
No hybrid motor option!!!

But, but, some random car news site said it was coming :(

Seriously, anyone expecting something more than this was just not in touch with reality. I am hoping the used prices get closer to the $15K mark so I can buy another FT86 and supplement my WRX daily driver.

I miss my BRZ!!!!!!!

MikeyBatz 04-30-2015 05:31 PM

Ah good, I feel better buying a 2013 model :D

Tromatic 04-30-2015 05:38 PM

F-ing LOL. The only place it can go from here is down. If they build what the majority here seem to want, it will become an over-priced POS.

^^^ 1 thousand thanks ^^^

If it does get close to 15k, I can buy one earlier than expected! Used ones are still around 22k with 20k+ miles in my area.

Veloist 04-30-2015 05:50 PM

I feel like I'm the only one who's looking forward to the rear view camera. The FR-S/BRZ is an easy car to park in any direction. But uphill parking is going to be great with the camera.

The only real personal dilemma is figuring out if I want to get a '16 when it comes out, or wait a few months/a few auto shows to see if they have a decent special edition coming out.

I have seen a few sub 30K FR-S's near me at dealers for $18-19K. Pretty sure I could negotiate down to high 17's. Getting closer :)

I'd never troll you. you'd post some kind of picture that'll just make me laugh or think that it's clever. usually those are the 2 responses I get from reading your posts lol

Chaetagnath 04-30-2015 10:13 PM

Is it me, or is that Oceanic color the same paint as the 10 series?

Wise 04-30-2015 10:23 PM

Any pics of the new Red? Is it metallic or still non-metallic?

I wonder if it will be a variation of the Pacific Blue Metallic on things like the IQ or the older Yaris?

Bristecom 04-30-2015 10:38 PM

If you've been following this forum, you already knew there would be no real performance upgrades due to the Japanese announcements from Toyota and Subaru. I like that there is a backup camera now but the "bright silver interior accents" has me extremely nervous. It'll likely just end up making it even more cheap looking and prone to revealing scratches. :(

Edit: I just realized they're talking about the silver accents they've already had... maybe they're brighter now? Or maybe they are just desperate for things to write about since nothing has really changed.

And people are still going to line up to trade. Someone at Scion is a genius. Absolutely zero development cost for the latest shiny version. I'm sure there will be an RS2 and another Monogram as well. After everyone has bought the 17's, the 18 will come along. Repeat.

kbye 04-30-2015 11:39 PM

So I wonder what they're going to do about the premium option with navigation. Will it be the same unit as before or a new/different model? The old one seemed fine to me. Still better than Subaru's.

kbye 04-30-2015 11:47 PM

My guess, it'll probably be the same idea, base unit audio with an option to add on the navi module if desired. It would be sweet if it used the same navi module.
I am interested in seeing if there are any increases in screen resolution. And notice the CD slot is gone.

I hope they do another Monogram run soon. If they do I might just bite the bullet and get it. But yeah, I wouldn't think anybody would trade up simply based on these minimal changes.

BTW, I noticed one other super minor difference. They finally added the leather/red stitched e-brake handle... but it looks like the e-brake boot is still the standard one so it doesn't match. :bonk:

x1UP 05-01-2015 12:34 AM

God, what a surprise...not. Everyone and their mother knew that Toyota and Subaru weren't going to add any power.

The more you wait, the more you are wasting time not letting yourself experience a true sports car.
