So all the bullshit the dealers have been spinning about TRD not happening for 6-12 months was a load of wank.... No surprise there... But great to hear... Hope they dont bump the prices up ridiculously...But they will...

86_ZN6 06-14-2012 11:34 PM

I'm not sure if our floor mats will fit the frs since lhd vs rhd due to heel plate and possible slightest different shape due to floor mounted levers (such as the fuel flap, not sure where it is) and other possible differences
But might be worth having a look at Canada/Europe(non uk) for parts ;)

Aero kit is $3000. But I believe that is going to be a Factory Option so probably not relevant here but just FYI.

Good that the floor mats are standard. At least we know that we should be getting them anyway instead of having them 'thrown in' as bonus.

Any word about HID's as an option?

in for pics of blue interior illumination. are they talking about the dash or the actual interior lighting?

Nardi330 06-15-2012 02:59 AM

i can find other more worthwhile stuff to spend on for the $245 + stamp duty they want for some blue lights.....

Surok 06-15-2012 03:07 AM

its nice lights for your feet.. i will get it :)

Nardi330 06-15-2012 03:09 AM

how about getting some LEDs and wire them up? the cost is like 10% of what Toyota wants.

and i doubt they can be turned on when interior dome lights are off

Surok 06-15-2012 03:39 AM

id rather toyota did it... factory features add value.. user modifications remove value.

Nardi330 06-15-2012 03:55 AM

something like this is easily reversible so when you sell no one will notice therefore won't effect value.

i hope you are aware that most accessories/options don't worth much when you sell your car....

But those accessories are not factory fitted. They are DEALER FITTED. So what happens there?

im just kidding :P

spiller 06-15-2012 05:23 AM

parking sensors are both annoying and ugly. I definitely wont be spending 450 bucks on them.

Nardi330 06-15-2012 05:33 AM

For $450 I'd rather buy rear cam if u are buying the GTS as there is a screen already.

I'd assume they'd be similar to the Camry's?

Footwell Illumination only?:iono:

I'd think so as well.

If Toyota Australia had not informed dealerships then the dealerships were just telling you/me/us what they knew. Maybe it was only a recent decision by TA to bring across some non ADR required gear. Doesn't make it bullshit.

Nardi330 06-15-2012 07:32 AM

Was there any stage where the price was lower than $29,990?? Just wondering...

Geez ur a knob sometimes dude. We haven't bs'd you at all. Why would we want to limit our own sales? All we've done is pass on information that was given to us when we enquired about it. Toyota have their own schedule on when they are making things happen and no the dealers are not always consulted.

And by the way, what's wrong with us making a profit on what we sell? Us dealers are in business to make money. How do you expect to get paid if your boss doesn't make a profit?

Since when is it a crime to sell a product for what it's actually worth?
So if we don't immediately discount our products we're bsing the public?

Get real mate.

I know some unscrupulous dealers may have taken advantage of you in the past but don't tar us all with the same brush please. We've been in business since 1958 and have an excellent reputation and the same family still owns and operates the business.

To the guys in the know, any idea when the reverse cam will be available?
Also I'm guessing it just shows up on the GTS screen?

Where does the camera go and will it require cutting (eg be ugly)?

I love your nick' mate lol. Anyway, in answer to your question, we haven't received the fitout info yet but presumably, for the time being, i'd say you're right. On other models it's possible to have the display fitted to the rear view mirror like in the FJ Cruiser but it can also be fed through the 6.1" display as an aftermarket option currently.

The camera itself would most likely go under the boot lid extremity like most of the others, that's my best guess at the moment.

Hmm I might consider a camera or reverse sensors. Depends on if they ruin the aesthetics. Looks like a late July delivery is not a bad thing.

Nardi330 06-16-2012 07:07 PM

If u r buying GTS, get reverse cam for a cleaner look.

If GT, get sensors to keep cost low (unless u plan to get a head unit with a screen)

That's a smart opinion guys.

From personal experience with both, if it's within the budget and the camera becomes an option, get both, as they both have their advantages and disadvantages but when combined they make it damn near impossible to hurt anyone or scratch/dent your car, provided you're paying attention.
