You mean LS in a ND...

tahdizzle 04-28-2015 03:46 PM

Well, lets just see if its 300hp and awd :p

I'm with the rest of you though. Lol

strat61caster 04-28-2015 04:03 PM

lmao their source is motoring.au

Might as well be an article about someone seeing Elvis at a Route 66 gas station.

Turbocharging directly contradicts Mazda's SkyActiv approach to efficiency, it'd be big news if all of a sudden Mazda slapped a turbo on their 2.5L

The least you could do when posting rumors is pick a new one, here's the same thing from last year:
http://paultan.org/2014/05/20/next-m...urbo-four-awd/

Oh look here's that theoretical 2.5L Turbo mentioned along with a 450hp wankel:

It will be nice if it has AWD. :D

rice_classic 04-28-2015 04:51 PM

Don't know why folks hate on FWD but get hard for AWD when it comes to performance. I've been on track with a number of AWD vehicles and they all perform on track identically to FWD cars, some even worse. Understeer on entry, understeer on exit. Meanwhile extra HP is lost to that additional drivetrain.

Ripping through the snow with a ski-rack on top, now that's a different story but on a race track I'd rather have FWD or RWD over AWD.

Every time I see a new Mazda it is always "nice rear, nice roofline, nice profile, nice front fenders, SHIT it is still smiling at me"!

I think they've fixed that with the latest gen though.

The current 3 and 6 are some of the best looking cars in their respective classes.

BRZPDX 04-28-2015 07:58 PM

I've never purchased a vehicle saying "not bad". That what I feel with Mazda's lately. The company died with the FD in my mind. Same direction Mitsubishi is going. It will end with the last Evo X.

Better. Yes by far.

Every time I think back to my fwd, I remember spinning to 90mph.

Or hitting the gas going 60mph, on dry ground, and spinning.

I LOVED the car (srt4) but fwd can be frustrating. And yes, I realize with enough power rwd/awd can have traction issues too, but by that point...

Theres a reason no performance car is fwd.

I just wouldn't buy a brand new, "performance" oriented vehicle that was fwd. Just too much sadness.

Now I think these guys had a RWD car.. or may it wasn't.. I don't know they were pretty ambiguous about that. :D

I have a strong RWD bias too, but to completely dismiss FWD is ignorant, especially when we have so many quality fast and fun FWD cars easily accessible from Honda, Ford, Mazda, VW, BMW, and a few others I've forgotten at just about every price range.

That's not completely true. The internal combustion engine only powers the front wheels, yes. The electric drive system powers all four wheels. So it is AWD. Sort of. When it isn't FWD. They think.

I wonder how many people have actually driven a track focused fwd car at the track. I never have, but wish I had enough money i could. I have ridden in some (neon srt4, dc1, celica) and also driving them in gt5, they seem super fun. Neutral oversteer then "when in doubt, power out".

And it cracks me up every time too! I'm not even sure the engineers know how it works!

Classic engineering situation: carry both versions in development for as long as possible until you've gone past the point of no return damaging your end product because you really only have the team necessary to develop one.

They'll bolt in the powertrain 5 minutes before qualifying starts, then we'll know what it is.

+1 on this.

continuecrushing 04-29-2015 04:30 PM

I wasn't trying to say a fwd can't be fast/handle well or be performance oriented.

But all in all, rwd/awd ftw lol.
