Reports! CR-Z 1.6 TURBO NEXT YEAR!
|
Id rather watch 2 girls 1 cup while eating chocolate pudding.
|
meh.
|
Why have 200hp FWD over 200hp RWD? I would imagine the price difference wouldn't be that far off either.

Different strokes for different folks! Lose the wing and that thing would look sweet!
I got to admit, I'm a Honda guy so a turbo CR-Z is definitely a good thing. |
Lol, I know I'm just playin, so is it diff engine or....
Nm just checked out link, it does look pretty good for a hatch - the wing of course |

i'm not a huge CRZ fan, but that one looks okay. i'd still take an FA5 over that any day! |
^^^^^ +2 the cr-x is way to heavy, but is a step in the right direction!
|
Sorry, but "Honda = NA" in my brain, so "Honda = Turbo" doesn't sit well w me.
|
|
This car is going to have a crazy aftermarket.
|
It does sound interesting, but I have to agree with ichitaka05 -- factory boosted Honda sounds weird to me. Also, I still hate the CR-Z's Dust Devil shape.

It's all good. :happy0180: It will (hopefully) be a much better car. It's good news for the FWD pocket rocket fanatics out there. Currently the CR-Z falls short of what it was supposed to be imo.
Also found this article just now. "Honda CR-Z Convertible in the Works?" http://www.thetorquereport.com/2010/...le_in_the.html |

My only concern with the convertible is the added weight that will come with it. I mean, the CR-Z is already kinda heavy for what it is, and the added weight to make the body more rigid won't be a good thing towards performance.
Anyways, (not directly related to the topic) I just stumbled on to this photoshopped CR-Z and wanted to share. Click the image for source. I kinda like the Scirocco-ish widened rear end. http://i53.tinypic.com/21eapi0.jpg |
That does look sweet but pointless on the staggered wheels!?!
Look at the camber on that black hatch tho!! :eyebulge: |
I do agree the turbo is a much better idea than the hybrid. There's nothing wrong with the Lea engine, it was the powertrain that was the problem. As it is a FWD Honda, I'd never buy it either way. But hopefully it works out better for Honda.

Honda NSX or bust...
|
NSX

this is what the CR-Z should have been...Id even be trmepted into buying it if it was a factory option. K20 CR-Z |
NSX FTW, this should have been the new NSX, come on Honda this would have sold like hot cakeshttp://i819.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/IMG_5972.jpg

 it still will. I WANT! I WANT! I WANT IT!!!!!! as a track car i'll have my ft as a daily :burnrubber: |
You realize that, that car is honda's GT car built only for the GT races, it has a V8 and is completely made of CF, I think it puts out upper 400's maybe even 500 hp, and Honda has already said this will never see production, although if they wanted a big seller I garuntee this thing would sell like a GTR or be just as popular given a descent price range for this slick Lil ridehttp://i819.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/IMG_5004.jpghttp://i819.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/IMG_9213.jpghttp://i819.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/IMG_6064.jpg
If they redo the NSX I at least hope it looks like this, looks alone I give it a 10 |

Thank you for the correction, I would love to drive this thing down the street, I wonder how hard it would be to build this thing, or what frame to use....

I could see it now, buy the CR-Z, get the Hybrid discounts and thumbs up from all tree huggers, get the K20 swap and never worry about a cop every giving you trouble! |

Back when I was a Honda guy, this guy I talked to on our forum did one of the first full rebuild & custom turbo kits for the K20Z3, came out at mid 700's whp on 35psi, but was Still pretty bullet proof, that was back In 2008, I went back on the forum not long ago and it seems like all the Turbo Si's(k20z3's) are all at 400whp and up, back when I did it there was just a handful of us

Correct. CF tub, aluminum subframes for the engine and suspension, must use the roadcar roof and a pillars. 500hp limit. Hose engines in Formula Nippon Spec make over 600hp (pretty much similar to the Toyota units). I've her Honda is considering a low production run. I'd bet that it would cost upwards of $150K, so re:boost junkie, I don't see it selling like hot cakes. It's a real pity though, would have loved to have see it come out, probably would have had a v10, that V8 is straight racing spec stuff. As long as they didn't call it NSX that would have been fine by me. |
