Yesterday I filmed this very in-depth tour of the BRZ and I think it shows just about every detail. For everyone that doesn't have the car yet, hopefully this video can make it feel a little closer to arriving. Sorry it's so long, like I said, it's very detailed!

really nice review ever!

Scooby 06-15-2012 10:29 AM

Nice vid man, thanks a lot!

I was wondering does the blue paint in the engine bay actually match the WR Blue of the outside? On the video it looks much darker, more like the other available blue. Might be the lighting though.

And another question: is there a panel gap between the right side of the headunit and the surrounding trim? Especially towards the lower end it looks like it doesn't sit flush. Again could be lighting conditions.

No. Subaru engine bays are never clearcoated to match the outside. My Platinum Silver WRX had a really dull blue hued grey engine bay.

That's odd. Is that a normal thing to do?

Xanimal 06-15-2012 11:37 AM

Thanks! I can't wait for mine!

Normal for Subaru.

I enjoy in depth reviews. Very nice indeed.

baldolera 06-15-2012 11:47 AM

Longer is better! Nice to see all the features, this video is extremely useful for someone looking to buy the car.

merlin2111 06-15-2012 04:35 PM

I will make sure to watch this while the GF is watching real housewives of _______. Thanks in advance for keeping me sane.

Thanks for checking it out! I haven't noticed any gap there, everything fits together really nice.

Excellent vid!

I noticed your engine is chirping at an idle too. Hmm.

Thanks! Yeah I noticed the idle issue again today too, not sure what's going on.

Jayde 06-16-2012 12:08 AM

Another member says it's coming from the Injectors, and that it only happens after the car has been driven for awhile. His guess is to let off pressure in the system, but no one really knows since it's so new.

If it's not throwing any CEL, then I really wouldn't worry about it now.

jenzan 06-17-2012 11:20 PM

@Subaruwrxfan I don't know if you saw this, but I actually watched the video from reading this article.

Hey. Thanks for uploading the video! I'm curious, does the lock chirp of the limited sound the same as when you unlocked the car at the beginning of the video? Thanks.

Yep, sounds the same.

Nice video. Always good to have a decently comprehensive video like this for reference. A lot of the little features might go unnoticed until someone points them out. :)

EDIT: You: "Delete." Car: "Two-Eight." You: "Yeah it does a pretty good job!" I laughed out loud at that part. :)

EDIT2: Since it's actually a really nice feature, SVC is Source Volume Control. It lets you set the volume for each specific function of the radio at a set +/- amount. For instance, the bluetooth audio from my phone is generally quieter than the rest of the unit, so I have SVC for bluetooth set to +10, whereas the radio is very loud so I have it set to -6. It will save the volume setting once set.

Rockstar 06-20-2012 02:28 AM

Nice video! I laughed so hard when you got into the back seat. Reminded me of the Toyota Supra. Any more than 15minutes in the back seat will make your legs numb and then you'd lose blood circulation to the legs after 30minutes...
I can see you really like your car. Is there anything you find annoying or dislike?

gwascopter 06-20-2012 03:14 AM

nice one

Egyptn 06-20-2012 06:34 AM

Thank you for the detailed review and your opinions on the features. Really appreciated mate thank you again.

sandwich14 06-20-2012 11:29 AM

the rubberish side sill piece is not random. its to protect when passengers get in the rear. it doesnt scratch easily like the plastic would. great review though, it answered many questions i had

theredtape 06-20-2012 11:50 AM

You said that WRB is the only exclusive color to the BRZ. Is the SWP the same as Whiteout? I ordered a SWP because I love the way it looks on the WRX but I saw a Whiteout FRS and I definitely was not a fan. Did you mean WRB doesnt have a simliar color FRS or that most colors are shared?

Right now the only things I find annoying are the dead spot between 3.5k-4.5k and the complete lack of an exhaust note, but those things can be fixed.

SWP is the same as Whiteout as far as I know. The cars are all painted in the same factory and use all the same colors, scion just gives them different names.

Damn.... I hope it was that I only saw whiteout in a dark showroom. Hopefully in the sun it looks much better. I love pearl cars but something about the white frs didnt appeal to me. So is SWP the same color as the white wrx?

Depends what year WRX you're talking about. SWP was introduced in 2007. Before that it was Alpine White.

It may also make the sill less slippery when exiting the front seats. In my NX, I tend to put my left hand down on the sill and support/pivot my way out. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but there you go. :)

Seen it on Youtube since last Thurs. or Friday. Nice detail of the car, wanted to know if the car has power-folding mirrors or do they fold manually?

slizoth 06-20-2012 01:47 PM

Nice little video guide, had I seen this prior to my order I might have hesitated more on getting the Premium instead of the Limited. I knew the feature difference but on the whole I think the price difference just wasn't worth the additional features.

They are manual unfortunately, the power folding mirrors always seem to be a JDM only feature :(

i always thought the lightning red looked MUCH better than the firestorm in pictures. always thought they were two different colors.

Great video/buyers guide!

I find it funny that Subaru decided to keep the Toyota "T" symbol within the dash pattern.
