Has anyone been able to get there seats clean?

Have you guys managed to clean the front seats in your FRS/BRZ's to where they actually look nice again? I spent a couple of hours detailing yesterday and for the love of god these seats refuse to clean up and I am not quite sure what to do. I am about to give up and take it to a detailer but idk if they will just do seats? I have never had this dilemma before since this is the only car with nice interior I have ever owned lol

Anyways, any help would be appreciated. Also yes I did search around for at least 5 seconds but wasnt finding much so I figured I would just ask

I have one of those cheap little Bissel steam cleaners with an upholstery attachment. Brings the seats back to brand new in just a couple of minutes. You would not believe that that thing will suck out of the seats and mats!

What this guy said. You can go get a small little cleaner pretty chepa and it does the trick..

Word of advice after cleaning your seats and matts.. Do it when you know there is a nice few days and leave the windows down. When I cleaned my fit before I traded it in to get the FR-S.. i left the windows up the first night and when I woke up my car had its own weather system inside.:lol:

Dirt poor choices:

-Lint roller

-Carpet cleaner

-(little more expensive) seat cover
(less expensive approach) beach towel or equivalent

OHHHHH good point!
I did the same and am pretty sure if left long enough you would develop your own ecosystem.
In order to help dry it out I will also crank the AC and let it sit and idle for 1/2 an hour or so. The water will be pissing out the drain.

It was literally raining in my car. I got in and everything was dripping.. My skin had a mist of water all over it. It was actually really cool.. Just well.. probably not good for everything inside of the car :iono:

Thank you guys for the awesome responses! I checked out the video and I might try hand cleaning it for now. I really want to buy one of those carpet cleaners but I am broke from buying car parts.. I might still go buy one just to make the process easier :D

You won't regret it!
Don't try to cheap out too much though as I bought a couple of $30 ones that didn't work worth crap (left way too much water behind) before I sprung for the $80 Bissel that works great.

Larry from AMMO NYC makes the best detail videos. Informative without being annoying.

I use the Bissell SpotClean Pro for the seats and carpets. Got it new for ~$100. shipped from eBay. http://www.bissell.com/spotclean-pro/

Zhangy 04-17-2015 01:18 PM

you are a man, you don't need to be clean >:]

Freetime 04-17-2015 01:19 PM

What the heck do you do to get it that dirty? Mine's two years old and a vacuum brings it back to like new.

I used one of these on my parent's old Accord. They each smoke a pack a day, and the interior of the Accord was beige. Did the seats, carpets, headliner, door arm pads. Afterwards: grey interior. Replaced the cabin air filter and you would have never known the car was smoked in for 6 years.

sprintertrueno86 04-17-2015 02:11 PM

Now I want one but my interior is not even that dirty.

I use Leather Master foam cleaner to clean the alcantara seats.

I would assume the passenger seat would be much better for such activities. Also I dont think it would be to comfortable.. Also yes I would be worried about miscellaneous fluids getting on my seats! Although I do have the carpet cleaner on the way so I gues I dont have to worry anymore! :D

STEP 1) Pull 'em out for easier clean.
Step 2) Dry clean 'em/Vacuum. USE NO LIQUID.
Step 3) Buy/borrow a steam vacuum? not sure proper name.

Step 4) Profit.

I work in a plant that make brake rotors and although I don't spend a massive amount of time on the floor the place is dusty!

What is the appropriate length of time to wait before profiting?

I'd find it incredibly uncomfortable to do so. Limited range of motion and all.

However, I can vouch that the passenger sheet when folded back is quite cozy for make out sessions.

I used to work in television news as a news photog. All use photogs all had our own take-home news trucks. One of the guys we'll call "Bill" had a serious hygiene problem and smelled pretty rank all the time. It wasn't BO, but more like a sour smell from not washing his clothes. He was also missing some teeth and had amazingly bad breath.

When the news director got enough complaints from the reporters about having to ride in his stinky truck, he would call Bill into his office and have a Serious Conversation with him. Bill's hygiene would improve for two to three weeks. Then it would go back to normal. This guy lived with his elderly mom and supported her, and I think they didn't get rid of him because they felt sorry for him.

At one point I went on vacation for a few days, and the station had me leave my truck while I was out so that they could rotate some of the other trucks in for maintenance. The first day back at work, I got into my truck, and... Dear God! The stench made my eyes water. I knew immediately that Bill had been driving my truck while I was out.

The company was really cheap and were real sticklers about making us jump through hoops to get any expenses reimbursed. I made out an expense form for the bottle of Febreze I used up on that truck to kill that smell. The news director asked me why I was expensing Febreze. When I told him, he threw the expense form in the trash. Then he turned around to his assistant and said, "Linda, pay him for that out of petty cash."

I will say this: Even though it left a sticky residue at first, Febreze actually worked on a couple days' stink. I think they eventually had to burn Bill's own truck, though.

U bet xD! I like the distance between me and my passenger. Makes touching and kissing really easy and natural
