Cops following you?
 

Anyone else have cops tail your car for miles on end? Only reason I mention it is I had it happen to me twice today. Once to work and once back from work.

Not sure if it's the smoked tail lights or the car in general but they both changed lines when they saw me and followed me for a couple of miles.

Almost makes me want to go back to stock tail lights. I always get really nervous when they tail me like that.

Need for Speed taught me that they're competing with you, so you need to drive faster.

Unless you have something to hide I wouldnt worry about it. Happens to me in the Houston area quite often. People who are not familiar seem to confuse our cars for something "exotic" but at the end of the days its just a subie

Yep, I've had cops follow me. I never have an issue when I drive the Jeep, but this car just attracts them. I've even had a couple of them tailgate me very aggressively. I just ignore them.

Assholes.

They are checking out your plates on the computer. They usually pull in behind me, get busy on the computer, see a clean 40 year driving record for the registered owner and just go away.

Prolly' lots of FR-S/BRZ's being driven by idiots where you live.

Worse case scenario they pull you over.

Worst case scenario is that they shoot someone.

Worse case scenario there's a riot too.

Having smoked tails is the biggest target you can put on your car aside from a monster wing or obnoxiously-loud exhaust...

Depends on the area, 'round here a newer car only gets attention if it's going too fast or running red lights. Ricers and old cars get more attention.

Was pulled over twice in my old japanese pickup truck late at night because most people only expect to see those from 4am-4pm filled with gardening equipment, probably figured it was the town's Millennium Falcon ("What a piece of junk!") running around the wrong side of the traintracks after 1am.

Edit: I've never heard of anyone even noticing different taillights on a car aside from an enthusiast, it's probably the last thing the cop cares about as long as they do the job.

pft, you should've seen me when I drove off in car my the first night I got her, had 3 cops surround me for a good 5 minutes on the freeway - no joke :mad0259:

As said, unless you're hiding something, why care? Personally, they can tailgate me all they want. If I'm forced to brake in any emergency situation that might crop up, they'll be liable for the damages.

Typically I find that if a cop is following me I've done something to warrant the attention...

Just had this happen to me like an hour ago. Just finished washing and waxing my FRS. Decided to go for a drive.

I'm on the left lane on a 2 lane road going 40 in a 45 mph road (because of traffic). I pass a marked cop in a explorer in the right lane. As soon as I pass him, he changes lanes to get behind me. He got pretty close to my rear bumper so I changed lanes from the left lane to the right lane. Despite having no traffic in front of him, the cop matches my speed and follows alongside me for another 1/2 mile. When he got behind me again, I was certain I was going to be pulled over but thankfully he just took an exit ramp.

I'm pretty sure he ran my plates when he initially got behind me. Thank God the car is registered in my dad's name (60+).

Who knows, maybe he was impressed with my detail job haha

Ive had this happen more in my totally stock 98 civic than I have in my brz. They just run my plates and move on.

I had it happen a LOT in my mustang (loud exhaust), haven't had it happen so far, but only had the car for 5 days.

I had heard that Sheriff John Brown always hated you. Ruining your garden and all was just over the top.

Cops are people too, every now and then they like looking at cool cars...

I don't know about you guys, but every time i look in my rear view mirror i see cars behind me.

Should i be worried? Maybe write a letter to Toyota?

I have 3 cops approach me (not stop me) just to ask about the car. One even bought me a coffee.

Think more cliché. Not sure most of the Detroit cop car would run long enough to catch me. Pretty sure they just tow them to random spots on the side of the road every morning.
