FT-86 in Gran Turismo 5

GT5 is hitting the streets, and there should be some information in the game about the FT-86 that we could glean.

Per this list, it appears that it is included in the premium version.

Does anyone have a copy yet to see if there is any new information? The car intro recorded in HD with audio would be just awesome.

Updates so far:

Check the Gran Turismo 5 thread, I've already put the spec there

Cool, not to easy to find though. Copied here for easy googlz. The lack of stats disappoint me :(

You can only do so much with a 2.0L naturally aspirated motor...

What about giving it a force induction?

70NYD 11-25-2010 01:42 AM

It will be awesome if G sport has 2900lb (production).

The 86 made an appearance at the GT5 Madrid launch party:

CyberFormula 11-25-2010 08:49 AM

1000kg....
220hp..

means this car doesn't need a turbo afterall.:)

Chibi86 11-25-2010 09:20 AM

It's just awesome, if we compare to the old 86, there was no torque too in the 4AGE, but at least it was a good car.

If the weight is true, it's a damn circuit/touge weapon !
They should better choice the power instead of the torque, you just need to hit high Rpm that's all !

70NYD 11-25-2010 09:32 AM

its making me wanna buy a ps3 as well.. i was just playing it over at my mates house.. BUT FUCK i am SO anti sony.. :'( well see what happens in the following days lol

no_name 11-25-2010 10:57 AM

On the realism side, if Toyota can pull off only adding 200lb and losing 20hp for production, I'll still be pretty damn happy.

FI can't overcome the physics of the motor though. Will be more torque of course, but still low in relation to it's HP.

Dude. Thought you might have drifted of the side of a cliff or something. :bellyroll:

Welcome back.

jay4prez 11-25-2010 12:58 PM

so, for you guys that played gt5, whats the hp/torque curve look like? rather flat? uphill then a sharp decline?

4agze 11-25-2010 02:30 PM

So last night pass by frys elecronics and they have GT5 on big screen 3D so this has 3D wow did any member tryed that on their 3D tv yet?

Yeah, I was thinking the same too. I'm too poor to have 3d tv. 1080p 60hrz was best I can do.

I know, it gives lot of torques, but few HP.

My TV is broken down, I hope that I can get Sony 3D TV this Friday. Of course, if the price is right, I will get it without hesitation. If I do get it, I will tell about my experience with 3D mode in GT5.

Franisco 11-25-2010 05:37 PM

Well the G's is turbod, and it still doesnt have high torque numbers. I was hoping for WRX numbers..

iirc, old school GC 2L had around 206~258tq (wrx ver) GC STis' were 228~268tq.

70NYD 11-25-2010 08:02 PM

bah torque doesnt matter that much, its not a low revving V8 ;)
and besides its not like your gonna have a tow bar on the 86 :p
as long as it keeps the torque there and has enough power, it can be made quicker
and for anyone that thinks you need high torque to make a race car quick think of a rotary

Franisco 11-25-2010 08:36 PM

I meant the newer WRX's (265 HP, 240 something Ft-lbs). I agree track driving wouldn't be bad without torque, but day-to-day freeway and hill stuff is going to be a pita. Especially with a 6speed..

Matador 11-25-2010 10:19 PM

Doubt that the torque would be that low on the turbo car. Calculations say that it'd be making 203ft-lbs @ peak hp, so I'm guessing peak tq would be a bit higher.

I just won an FT and you can't even add a turbo kit. :mad0260:

I have 331hp and this thing's back end gets silly around the apex!! :happyanim:

Here is a phone pic from my 46" Samsung LED. (non 3D) Brilliant Blue on black Rays!! :party0030::party0030::party0030::party0030:

Dragonitti 11-25-2010 11:53 PM

If this was suppose to be created with a focus on balancing the car for Drifting....It needs to have low end torque to power-over in the low speed sections of a Drift track/course. Can't throw in a no-torque producing high rev motor for the purpose of drifting. Time Attack sure, drift car....not exactly. FD most guys have V8's for that torque and power on tap, in D1 turbo motors making 400-500+whp usually have enough torque for their tracks (which are high speed drift tracks for the most part which don't require a lot of torque to begin with).

^^That blue and black wheels looks nice. Working on getting the 500,000 credit necessary to get the GSport right now. Damn it's more expensive than the ZR1.

Concept cars in GT series are ridiculously expensive. I can't wait to get my game tomorrow. Dammit, didn't have chance to get it yesterday.

That's what I'm saying! I was trying desperately to save up the 300,000 for the FT then ended up winning it by completing the FR Championship with my S15.

I actually want to buy a GTR and fix that thing up. I think the street cars are a lot more fun than the full on race vehicles.
