Interesting question. Please don't elaborate. I want to leave to my imagination why you would ask.

Tcoat 04-01-2015 07:05 AM

Depending on the circumstances that deploy the airbag you may need a whole new car but the seats would be fine!
Air bags won't hurt the seats. Crashes hurt the seats!

Welcome to FT86Club.com before you make any other threads or ask anymore questions let me clarify a few things about this car....

It's not a fast car but it is a fun car.

There is no AWD or Turbo Version that is not going to be out soon.

It uses premium 91 or 93 octane gas and it can use E85 with just a simple tune.

Keep your traction control on.

And last, if your airbags deploy your going to need a new car...

And that chirp noise is crickets and it isn't going away so don't ask please!

FirestormFRS 04-01-2015 08:27 AM

I think he's asking if the seats have airbags...I'm not sure though. Welcome aboard. Also the car makes all kinds of strange and abnormal noises compared to a camry, it's a cheap sports car, it's supposed to. Rides kinda rough too if you're used to a mainstream vehicle.

Nope no bags in seats.
Not sure but don't believe even has self tensioning belts (have a charge similar to the air bags in case of a crash).

kbye 04-01-2015 10:29 AM

Yes there is, there's side airbags in the seats.

I stand corrected for the third time this week! I am ashamed.
Went and looked for the label and there it is clear as day on the bottom of the seat. Don't know how I missed it all this time.

Doesn't change the fact that if it is engaged then a new seat will be the least of your worries though.

WNDSRFR 04-01-2015 10:55 AM

Nope.
Forth time. It has self tensioning seatbelts too.

Nah, won't take the fall on that one as I said I wasn't sure! Could find nothing on them back a while ago when I was looking. Doesn't mean it isn't there just I didn't look in the right place.

Hmmm thats odd. In my area 91 is the norm but everyone says that the higher octane helps our engine run better. So I am always on the look out for at least 92 which is semi common. Ive only had to drive to another gas station once or twice.. lol As for 93.. holy cow is that the holy grail. There is like one or two gas stations in a 50 mile radius that actually have it. I dont think ive been able to get 93 since I bought the car..

93 is everywhere here but 94 may required a 10 minute drive.

0351USMC 04-01-2015 01:57 PM

I'd say he could buy mine since you know they didn't go off when I wrecked my 10 Series and got a concussion from hitting the side window. But I have no access to my car any longer.

Ya, you couldn't have placed that tree more precisely between the impact sensors if you had spent all day lining it up!

Yeah seriously!!!!! Definitely a fluke crash! Still haven't seen another deer since. Can't wait to uppercut the next asshole deer I see!!! Even if it's bambi. Although a solid drop kick might be in order, depending on how my back feels from the whiplash.

You watch SNL?
Funniest sketch in decades last week with the Rock doing a F&F7 version of Bambi.

Yep I know that gas station very well. It is a block away from my tire guys shop. But it is also far out of the way in relation to my daily drive. Although I did consider e85 for a little bit lol I am just to reckless when it comes to letting my gas tank get close to empty.. :(

I've seen 92 in either TN or NC. Have you ever seen gas with a fractional rating, I forget where I was when I took this

first post for me, but some good weird news. After my first oil change, the crickets went away! With 3-4 refueling, the sound is gone!

Don't be to glad. They come and go. One tank of different gas or a raise in temperature and they come back to visit. I personally have only had them a couple of times and have been mostly free but I have no doubt they will return.

The airbag deployed and ripped the seat (side) open. I was wondering if I could put in a new airbag and stitch the seat back up? Or do I have to Purchase a new seat all together.

I have the 2014 Scion FR-S Monogram Series, so my seats are leather/alcantara and heated

New seat I would think. I doubt you could buy just the bag and fixing the seat would be a true challenge. Not covered by insurance?

paulca 04-03-2015 04:28 AM

I would check the insurance company are willing to insure it after an airbag deployed. Sometimes the manufacturers will not certify the safety systems will work more than once.

They have disappeared since my first oil change and haven't came back for the last 3000ish miles. Let's hope it Coscto's gas and my devil's luck.

Ashikabi 04-26-2015 12:35 AM

Since no one seems to want to answer you, I will do my best. It seems if you get that airbag code you must at least replace(or get reprogrammed) the SRS ecu module and any blown airbags. But you may have to replace all the mentioned airbags. As far as the seat goes, I think you have to replace the whole thing to replace the airbag. I have the same problem, I think I will try a reprogram and if that doesn't work I'll just pull the LED for the airbag light
