Have the assholes raised the price of gas where you live yet?

So the price of gas around here has sat at $2.39 for the longest time. That's for regular (87 oct) and a local station has ALWAYS charged .30 a gallon more for 93 oct. But suddenly they started to charge .40 a gallon more. Just like everyone else.
Then two days ago EVERYONE raised their price to $2.55 for regular. Not about $2.55 but exactly $2.55. Almost like there was some sort of collusion going on. I swear there must be someone somewhere who controls the price of gas at all stations with the press of a button. It's hard to find 93 oct anywhere anymore for less than $3.00.
Tomorrow I'm going to take the 100 mile round trip to get 50 gallons of E85. If it's less than $2.00 a gallon it will be worthwhile.

OK I've vented. I feel better now.

Tcoat 03-28-2015 01:29 PM

Our price is still very low from when it plummeted back a few months ago so we are only paying around $4.50 a gallon for 93.
Before it dropped (and where it will eventually go back to) it was $6.50 a gallon most places.

Does that make you feel even better?

DCStorm 03-28-2015 02:02 PM

Yeah same here. 93 is around $3 here now from about $2.50 that it had dropped to. Still not complaining tho since it was still even pricier before it initially went down.

Edit: just realized your about an hour away from me hence the similar prices lol

If there is a sam's club or costco near you, I would recommend getting a membership. I have a sam's club membership it about $70/year and I save a lot on gas. From a quarter tank to full I pay about $18-$20.

Edit: for 93 its about $2.45/gallon as of today

Loetke 03-28-2015 02:59 PM

93 at the ethanol free station here is $3.29/gallon, and if you go on Tuesdays, it's only $2.99.

BlueDubbinTDI 03-28-2015 03:04 PM

I've paid between 2.65 and 2.85 for 4 or 5 months now. Hard to complain too much from where it was last year

Jaden 03-28-2015 03:15 PM

It went up crazily here, just switched back to E85 myself..

I was on E85 when E85 was less than $2.00 a gallon, then gas prices went through the roof from $2.65 back up to $3.70 and E85 went up to $3.00 so I switched back to 91, and then they stabilized back at about $3.50 for premium.

I can get E85 now for $2.65 so I just switched back to E85 again.

Jaden

86geek 03-28-2015 03:54 PM

I'm grateful to be paying $3.22 a gallon for Chevron Premium....Way before I bought my car the premium gas was :eyebulge:$4.55 a gallon.....I refuse to put cheap junky Sam's Club or Costco gas....No ethanol free premium gas here in Honolulu....:(

sprintertrueno86 03-28-2015 03:58 PM

Filled up at Mobil yesterday. 93oct $2.69/gal

_______ 03-28-2015 04:21 PM

$2.37 at my local Sunoco for 93 it was low as $2.05 but im not gonna complain better than freaking $3.90

Teseo 03-28-2015 04:33 PM

The assholes who raise the price are the greedy arabians.
Today i filled my tank at 2.88 $ with shell v-power (what shit is that?)

Rampage 03-28-2015 04:45 PM

I find it interesting that premium 93 used to be 20 cents more expensive than 87 octane and now it is 50 cents more. I am sure that nothing has changed in refining so it is just a money grab by the oil companies when the oil prices started falling.

Not so, it is the speculators because of the war efforts of Saudi Arabia fighting the rebels in Yemen. The price of Arab oil are still relatively low and there is an oil glut around the world, especially in the US. Wall Street will use any excuse to drive up the oil prices and put money in the investors and big oil's pockets.

1GiantTurtle 03-28-2015 04:54 PM

We don't even get 93 here, you should be happy, its like $3.40 a gal here

N1rve 03-28-2015 05:59 PM

Just paid 3.23 for 91 in Los Angeles...

OPEC is made up of American's, Russian's, UAE representatives, Venezuelan's and any other oil rich countries. They have a huge conference I think every month and just 'speculate' (fancy word for guessing) on how the profit margins are going to be. It's not just Arabian's. Iran, Russia, and all the Evil countries will never have a war waged against them. They have the oil. Sad but true.

350matt 03-28-2015 06:22 PM

that is until we no longer need oil, Hybrids are the writing on the wall , the stone age didn't end because we ran out of stones....

White64Goat 03-28-2015 06:23 PM

Paid $2.58 a gallon for 93 at Costco in Frederick this afternoon.

Regular has crept up from $1.97 to about $2.34 in the last 3-4 weeks but holding steady there.

Neither the US or Russia are members of OPEC.

"Currently, the organisation has twelve members, namely: Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela."

There is huge non-automotive demand for petro-based fuels.

Crazy Drew 03-28-2015 08:41 PM

If by assholes you mean the USW then yes, it has gone up. The prices aren't related to OPEC or anything else going on over in the sand lot, it's all stateside at the refineries.

Seasonal swing dude. With EPA regs you have to change the blend of gas to stop evaporation from becoming a problem. Until the refineries are all at full tilt on summer blend there will be a short term shortage.

Stations have to mirror prices otherwise the guy that sets his price $.05 cheaper will run out before he gets his next scheduled delivery. Gasoline is a finite local resource so stations are generally allocated only so much per delivery.

The price hike on 93 is gouging. The wholesale price of 93 is not $.30 more than the wholesale price of 87. I'd be shocked if it's much more at all.

For a good part of when it was $6.50 here the Canadian dollar was actually worth more than the US so it would have been pushing US $7 a gallon for a while.

breadcrumbz 03-29-2015 12:50 AM

You guys are complaining when I am only able to get 91 octane max for $3.55/gal in socal.. :(

mswbrz 03-29-2015 12:54 AM

Quit bitching I pay 3.05 for premium here in Cali .

:happyanim:E85 is still $1.89 for me
$19 fill up but I'm getting 23mpg.

fito68 03-29-2015 01:13 AM

91 at $3.89 today

Chanpion 03-29-2015 01:32 AM

I feel so sad looking at all the numbers in this thread...
It's 107 a litre which is 4.04 a gallon for you United States peeps. I wouldn't complain if it was 3$ a gallon.

ndsleep612 03-29-2015 01:35 AM

If you think you have it bad, move to California. We have it worse in the ENTIRE country. Based on the prices you're quoting, it's a fire sale compared to what we pay over here.
