Where to buy K&N performance air filter?
Hi guys
Looking for a drop in air filter. Don't want to order online, want to fit it today.:bonk: thx for the help. |
I know you are in Africa, but here in America we have k&n in pretty much all the auto parts stores.

Agreed , also look into the Blitz filter which does not require re-oiling when you clean it, it's around $40
K&N drop in filter can be bought from ATS Motorsport in Randburg Make sure you call them before you go there thou, not sure of their operating hours on a weekend |
Great. Thx guys.
|
Also try Autostyle, they sell BMC and K&N if I'm not mistaken. 86 takes the same filter as some Corollas.

Just bought a K&N filter.
Just one question the guy I bought it from said it's pre-oiled, is that true? Must I oil it? thx for the help. |
The KN filter is already oiled from the box and you just pop it in. If I remember correctly, the filter material is white after you wash it, and the KN filter oil is red, hence red color after you oil up a freshly washed and dried one.

Okay so I put the filter in at work so that I can test it on the way home from woodmead to centurion.
All I can say is wow!! The car breathes better, top end power increase is very noticeable and acceleration is way better. Would definitely recommend it. |

Drop some Torco Race fuel in there (Which picks up your octane levels to approx 98ron - Ie the fuel that these cars are currently designed/programmed for?) and it feels amazing! DIF + Brz exhaust with either: 1) Octane booster(Short term), or 2) 95ron tune / software (Long term) Makes the car feel like a decent sports car:D:burnrubber: :burnrubber::burnrubber::burnrubber::burnrubber: |

You need a solvent for cleaning, and filter oil. Both are normally aerosols and quite cheap. |

So what does the filter cost?

I got mine a few months ago from ATS for R950.

Masterparts still sell the K&N cleaning kits.

K&N DIF cleaning
4 Attachment(s)
Decided to clean my K&N Drop In Filter today,
Purchased the cleaning kit from ATS a while ago, but never got a chance to use it, Cost around R200 Was a simple process (Used Youtube for guidance), After approx 1 year of usage, there was bugs, leaves, stems and other junk hidden in that filter, Ended up washing it 3 times, and re-oiling it was easy, I am def not going to wait for a year next time, and will probably clean and re-oil it in the next 6 months, Here are some pics: Before wash: Attachment 120132 Attachment 120133 Washed: Attachment 120135 Oiled: Attachment 120134 Don't forget to clean your DIF  |
