BRZ trunklid liner for FRS

1 Attachment(s)
Anyone know how to get a BRZ trunklid liner for the FRS? I contacted a Subaru online parts dealer who was not very helpful. This would look nice and cover up the wiring, etc.

russv 06-12-2012 06:09 PM

Subaruonlineparts.com has this in stock for $48

Mr.Eightsix 06-12-2012 08:11 PM

Thank you for posting about it. Yesterday I tried checking with a Subaru dealer parts department, and they still did not have the parts catalogue up on their computers.

tonystewart 06-12-2012 10:33 PM

Thanks, I just ordered it.

kmbkk 06-12-2012 11:59 PM

I just may have to order this, thanks for posting this!

r4m3n 06-13-2012 12:22 AM

The site sells the BRZ headlamps for roughly $1000 for a pair...but not sure if it's just the housing?

Dadhawk 06-13-2012 11:08 AM

Just ordered one. I found it amusing that they listed it with the description:

Add the factory BRZ trunklid liner to your FR-S for a more complete look. Includes all necessary hardware.

I'm going to have to start having parts delivered to work so MomHawk doesn't start ordering parts for her Mustang or meeting me at the door like this :paddle:

Given that the gt86 ones are listing for $1100 each, that's a pretty good bargain!

My email from SubaruOnlineParts:

Just got an email response back from the site. So they are, indeed headlight housings, but will be offering complete setup for $700 each, if i'm reading this correctly:

Hi
These are just the housings. We are going to offer the complete assemblies with ballasts and bulbs for around $700 each.

We need to determine if they will be a direct plug in with the wiring in the FR-S though. We believe physical fitment will not be a problem save for a small triangular opening at the point of the headlight when installed in the FR-s facia.

Thank you
Marc
I may be interested in picking up these BRZ housings, and then buy the HID ballasts and bulbs from one of the 3rd party vendors on this forum for cheaper

Beat me to it, I got the same reply. Still that brings it down to a reasonable price. They did ask if I knew if the harness would be plug and play, which of course is the big question. I referred them to these forums, hopefully they'll join us in the vendor area.

Calidrifter 06-13-2012 06:30 PM

Confirmed by Perrin that they will fit.

Calidrifter 06-13-2012 07:44 PM

I was talking about the HID's. But the trunk dress up will also fit.

tonystewart 06-29-2012 09:35 PM

It is the 29th, still no trunk lid liner

Whoa, you shouldn't be running JDM lamps here in the states anyway. JDM lamps have the beam higher on the left side, which blinds oncoming traffic.

JDM beam pattern more likely to blind oncoming traffic:

USDM beam pattern provides more light on your side of the road, sidewalk/pedestrians/etc:

No argument here. I agree. I was just talking about the price specifically in this case.

86_ZN6 06-29-2012 10:07 PM

GT86 headlights are not JDM. they are same LHD lights. so there shouldn't be a problem using them here in the US

Ah, gotcha. Still surprisingly expensive - new lights for my MR2 were under $200 each, tax included, and everything for the zzw30 is expensive since we didn't get that many in the US. At least it's a good note for the noobs who want "mad JDM tyte" parts for their car.

When you say "GT86 headlights," I don't know whether you're talking about JDM, Australia-DM, UKDM, AfricaDM, FranceDM, but I assume you're talking about NOT USDM since it's not called the GT86 here. It seems weird for you to refer to some random country (Africa/France/whatever) with RHD GT86's when we're talking about a Japanese car (GT86 = LHD) and everyone in this thread is in America (BRZ/FRS = RHD).

forgot to mention i was talking about the GT86 in europe. the LDH ones. so it should be compatible with US cars

or just pure toyota 86 that are LHD

GuySmily 06-30-2012 01:31 AM

Cool, got it. Just freaks me out when people want to put the wrong lights on cars here.
(lol, you caught me before I edited my post)

The car is called the Toyota 86 in most RHD countries and GT86 in others (some are RHD as well). When people refer to GT86 headlights, they are usually referring to the LHD ones from Europe and not the RHD 86 headlights from Japan. :)

As for the trunk liner, I ordered one from Subaru here and got it a couple of days later. Haven't installed it on a car yet, doesn't look like it's an amazing piece. Toyota should have included it on the FR-S. Oh well. ;)

Lucky you , a couple of days

Trojan_SC 06-30-2012 11:12 PM

Now the website says ***ACCEPTING ORDERS BUT THIS ITEM WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TILL LATE AUGUST-EARLY SEPTEMBER 2012****

I was too late...fail.

Oooooooooooh that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.

whataboutbob 07-01-2012 10:21 AM

Just ordered mine. Can confirm stated shipping dates are Aug-Sept.

Trojan_SC 07-02-2012 12:19 AM

Hey how much did you guys pay for shipping? I was going to order one but the website said $29 for shipping. I was like :eyebulge:

Really isn't an easy or small piece so ship. Id say $30 is reasonable.

I'm glad I bought a BRZ and don't have to piece basic shit back together for my car that should really be there in the first place, when the parts were readily available during manufacturing.

tonystewart 07-02-2012 07:57 AM

Sub-Total: $48.43

Charged me $28, but then I live on the left coast.

GuySmily 07-02-2012 08:33 PM

Have you guys tried your local dealers? I wouldn't waste the money on shipping unless their price that much cheaper than your dealer's price (list price or otherwise).

Get to know your parts guy.

Jeff Lange 07-05-2012 09:22 PM

Trunk liner installed in an FR-S. Fits great.

Just checked and it says they're taking orders but won't have any available until late August or early September :(

I wonder if I can find it at a local shop...

Jeff Lange 07-11-2012 04:57 PM

I ordered it from a local Subaru dealer, maybe call around? It didn't take long to get.

Next time I go local

phanguy 07-11-2012 05:02 PM

I tried calling my local Subaru but the guy thought that I was trying to get one of the accessories and he kept telling me that the accessories aren't available yet. I tried to tell him that it was a PART and he should be able to order it... but then he said he couldn't look up part numbers for whatever reason. SO I said f*ck it and I ordered it from subaruonlineparts. I ordered it on the 7th and just got my confirmation e-mail today. They said it should arrive around late August!

Edit: It came out to a total of 76.70
