Video was 10/10. Would watch again.
I use my car to drift wildly around playgrounds near elementary schools. I calculate a score based on the results. 10 points - Adults 20 points - Children ages 10-15 30 points - Children ages 5-10 Bonus points based on a string of run overs. Best score to date: 1900 |
Already liked you guys and now more for doing a give away haha
I remember your review of the FR-S with your turbo friend from a while back and I thought it was rather enjoyable and valuable considering how every car review put the 86s on a pedestal and it is nice watching an adult that isn't really giddy or different accent as I'm used to especially nice to watch someone that isn't a kid and (seemingly) mature haha keep on posting videos and such since not too many videos points out the things you prefer to point out/emphasize  I do want those transmission bushings pretty badly though ~ |
Owning a vehicle is like going to the strip club. The first time you get your jolly's off by simply being engulfed in the environment. But it gets harder and harder to get satisfaction from that day forward. More and more money, more and more time, more and more goodies, until finally one day you realize something... It's not even about the ladies, I mean they don't even really give you anything!! It's about the goodies and the way it makes you feel to watch a girl in only high heels tell you that she is only doing this to get through school... for the 1000th time.

Great video, guys. I'll throw my comment in for giggles, who knows?
I use my car as a day to day driver, unless it's snowing or complete crap out, and then my old war horse Cherokee gets driver duty. When it's decent out, driving down the highway the windows down makes me smile. The way this car handles is sublime, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Luckily, my daily drive is about 30m each way, so I get some solid seat time. But the highway isn't all it's cracked up to be in a little car like this - Twisty back roads are my domain. Now, being in the middle of the country, there's not a whole lot of those, but I cherish the few I've found around my locale, and I drive the absolute hell out of them. I do try to do so safely, making sure no one else is on the road in an initial run, and then going from there. And boy does she shine in that capacity - And not only does this make me happy, but it's also stress relief from my job. Sure, tech support isn't terribly stressful, but sitting all day, dormant, looking at car parts and forums drives me crazy. And so when I get the chance, we drive hard through the back road twisties. That said, I do try to do all my own work on the car - Exhaust from the headers down, my intake, my wheels and tires, my head and tail lights. Mostly done over the winter while she was garaged on the worst of days. All in all, I strive to be as fantastic of an owner as my car is fantastic of a car. |
You guys really helped me decide on getting an FR-S. Initially I was skeptical because I always thought it was underpowered, but after watching your videos and giving it a test drive, I decided to buy one. I was also considering the miata and s2000 and liked how you compared all of them in one of your videos. I'm looking forward to these being my first mods on my brand new FR-S.
Keep up the goodwork!! |
crazy that you're doing a giveaway like this, but still greatly appreciated! Been a fan of your videos ever since your first FR-S review. At the time I didn't own one, so I tried to take in as much content as I could. Your reviews and videos are a great blend of information and special type of humor that you don't see too often on youtube videos. Regardless of the outcome of this contest, I'll still remain a loyal follower of your content. Hope all is going well with the Mazda 3 and your S2000! Can't wait to see more from you guys soon.

Found your videos while searching for non-sugar coated reviews of the FR-S. Your series on the car was brutally honest, hilarious and relevant. I figured, if this grumpy little man can't find anything more to complain about, I'll buy one. Also loved all of your other goofy ass videos.
So a year later I met you at an autoX day, and you were super nice, totally funny and helpful. Fan for life (and apparently an ass kisser for just as long). |
Thanks for all that you guys have done. The bit I appreciated the most was your oil pressure testing. Between you and Element Tuning this forum should have a damn good idea of what is needed.
My wallet, however, did not appreciate your Essex Sprint kit review. We're still not on speaking terms. How's Turbowski? |
Always liked the vids. Especially the frs vs s2000 vids.
Lots of great reviews, information and honestly I felt it was a proper comparison. Especially liked the track parts since I track my frs myself. I'd love the bushing kits. Actually next on my list after LCAs My frs is my dd/weekend warrior and hauls my one year old around. I also like to right mini reviews myself. Always like to talk shop to fellow drivers around town and meets. Also love being able to actually show data via harries lap timer showing my times getting better and more consistent. I drive nowhere in the snow though lol. |
Your videos are great! I remember coming across yours (easy username to remember haha) when I was researching FRS videos like a madman before I bought mine this past January.
For me, vehicle ownership (especially with this car) is an expression of personality. I think this car is ridiculously fun but is easy to keep in check unless you want to go completely wild. |
I've been a fan for a long time and you, no doubt, played a pivotal role in my decision to buy an FR-S. I was getting ready to test drive the car at the dealership when I found one of your early reviews on YouTube - long before I even knew this forum existed. I liked to you right away, enjoyed the funny and intelligent commentary, and couldn't help but notice that it looked like you were driving around in the suburbs of Chicago - just like me! I liked the video enough to check out some of your other uploads and found the absolutely insane video you made with friends about the gay couple working with a real estate agent to buy a house - it was pretty obvious that there was some pent-up creativity in you and that you were totally unhinged...and I loved it! My girlfriend and I absolutely cracked up and when I watched one of the characters slide down the stairs shouting 'Ohhh...I'll shit on your ****!', I shit out a booger myself! I even made a comment on YouTube on that very thing right on the spot.
You and Turbowski always entertained, making videos that were smart, increasingly well produced, and fun. It seemed like you were living the life I wanted to live, but didn't really know how to do it myself - I don't have the tools or the garage (I live in a condo), I don't have the mechanic and SCCA member friend to help me, and (despite being an SCCA and BMW CCA member myself) I've never managed to get out on the track, either. You seemed like someone I'd like to hang out with, and I've said so here on this forum...and I was personally saddened when you sold your car. Yeah man, I'm a fan. You've added a lot to the community and had fun while doing it. I don't need the parts, so I'd rather you give them to someone who does - I just wanted to say thanks for the good times. |
So I don't remember how I found you guys originally - it was probably through here from one of the original S2000 vs. FR-S comparison videos you guys did. I found your irreverent nature right up my alley. I've watched many of your videos - I used your oil leak delete kit video when I installed my cam plate and yesterday I was watching your video on the direct injector seal fix from a few years back because it was the first evidence I have found of how to actually remove the fuel rail covers, which was totally awesome. Anyway, whether or not I win something, you guys have helped me out and I hope you keep going with it. I used to be concerned that you all were going to leave the community as for a bit there (and still occasionally) I'd catch the frustrations apparent in your commentary. But it looks like you're sticking around, if not to continue modding then to at least participate, and that's great.
|
I followed you on FT86Club before you had BRZ/FRS YouTube videos and introduced us to Turbowski. ;)
Vids rock, thanks for what you've done for the community. |
Saw you guys on youtube after looking up "FRS vs s2000". Really the deciding factor that actually had negative things to say about the FRS. Before buying my FRS it was awesome to know both sides of the story of the good and bad. What's most interesting about your channel is that not only is realistic but also humorous (:

i bought my FRS just so i can win this giveaway.

I got into rebuilding cars with my dad when I was a teenager.
Quote:
The story I decided to include was of the destruction of a 66' mustang I was in the process of rebuilding. I was driving back to my duty station (USN) in San Diego late at night from the Inland Empire after spending a weekend at my parents (my dad's shop was where I worked on my cars). Somewhere going through the hills on the 15 south, I started hearing a flapping and then realized after pulling over that the tread on one of my tires had gotten cut on something and was flapping against the wheel well. I got out the full sized spare and the stock jack and proceeded to jack up the car. Unbeknownst to me (difficult to tell if you are on a flat stretch or elevated on that part of the freeway) I was facing down from a slight incline and didn't have anything to prop against the wheels. I had managed to get the old wheel off and was putting the new one on when the car rolled forward off the jack and the brake drum landed on the ground. It was about 11:30 on a Sunday night and I only had a small pocket flashlight to see by. I did manage to pull the jack out and get the car jacked back up and the spare tire back on. I proceed to drive down the freeway some more. A car flashed their lights at me a few miles down the freeway and I thought they wanted to get by so I pulled into the next lane and let them by me. What I had failed to see in the low light was that the drum brake had canted slightly when it hit the ground and even though I had made sure to tighten down the lugnuts fully, the wheel was canted as well and eventually snapped off all of the bolts and lugnuts. So I'm driving down the freeway at 65-70 and I hear a clunk and see the rear drivers side wheel bounce past my door and then I can only see sparks. I attempt to lightly tap the brakes but as soon as I do, the car starts spinning. I started in the fast lane, but ended up spinning around 3 and a half times across three lanes of traffic to end up facing the wrong direction in the second from the right lane. I hit no other cars and the cars coming towards me were able to go around me. I was able to get out of the car and off to the side of the freeway and realized I had left my cell phone in the car so I was able to get back out to the car, grab my cell phone and get back to the side of the freeway. I dialed 911 and the operator answered the phone and I said "I'd like to report a stall..." when all of a sudden this drunk kid in a pickup truck hadn't seen the car that everyone else had managed to go around and started skidding to a stop. He started skidding about 75-100 feet before my car but still hit it with enough force to total it. So I finished my original statement to the 911 operator with "...an accident on the 15 freeway south at such and such exit". I ended up going on deployment and his insurance paid me for the totaled car. I ended up learning some california law and a couple of valuable lessons. 1) always inspect your tires regularly. 2) When people flash their lights at you, don't assume they're assholes and find out what it's about. 3) Always carry lights and proper tools with you cause you just might need them. 4) If you hit a parked car in Cali, you are at fault, regardless as to how and where it is parked. The only question was whether or not the lights of the car were illuminated since it was night time. I ended up buying my 95 GT and building it up with the settlement money. In retrospect, I should've just replaced the 66' and finished building it the way I had originally planned. I loved that car more than any other car besides my now F-RS, except for perhaps the 64.5 K-code which we still have, but the K-Code would never be as fast as my built 66' though. To me owning a car is an adventure and an extension of yourself. How you choose to mod and decorate your car to me and what cars you choose and why comes from how you define yourself as a person and is a great reflection of your personality. Back in the day when I built my cars, I didn't have a family to support and I could put all of my earnings into my cars, so now, the mods come slower, but I wouldn't trade my current life for that single life for anything. Like your videos - just subscribed. No need for any parts though. Keep doing what you're doing!

Reviews like yours are rare on YouTube. They are greatly appreciated. I must have watched all your videos 10 times before I bought mine and another 10 times after. I want another video review of ohlins. I am building a FI daily driver as my only vehicle. Keep the reviews coming Please. Has turbowski ever tried eharmony?
|
I have both the bushings, want the brake rotors. I love my car, I drive it almost daily for many reasons. Work, going to various places, then returning to my home. Sometimes, I just drive to drive. Anyway, I love your videos, appreciate your honest reviews and opinions, and I have zero expectation of being selected. I just wanted to say thanks for the info and entertainment. T

I'd love to win the Slotted Rotors!
I don't have an interesting story to tell but I am enjoying the experience of the community that has come along with the ownership of this car. I mean almost everyday or every other day I get a thumbs up from a fellow owner or someone who simply enjoys the culture behind the car! Not only that, but the amount of information available on this forum is extremely extensive and valuable! As someone who wasn't very mechanically inclined prior to the ownership of the twin, I constantly gave myself excuses to not touch the mechanical components (aka the hood and underneath the car) of my previous vehicles. I was too afraid that if I was to change something on my car, I'd wreck it or cause drastic unwanted change, and would need to bring it back to a mechanic and pay even more, just to get my car back to a functional condition on top of the modification that I wanted to be done--it felt like a hassle, so I just didn't bother. Fret not, not any more! Thanks to the generous members (you, Dezoris, included) of this forum and their invaluable time spent explaining and providing detailed guides to almost every part on the car, I'm able to work on my car with the peace of mind that if I follow every step that they provide, I should end up with the same results--and I do! For example, it was this past week that I did my first transmission and differential flush myself! Although for others, this might sound a bit basic, but for someone who rather do the equations behind a problem, I'd say it's a big achievement--it's awesome! Who knows, maybe in the future, I'll be able to be the one on the other side of the spectrum and provide guides to other members! |

Thanks for your videos, unique perspectives and humor. I love your work and the sort of hilarious bullshit that flies between you and Turbowski (sp) when little things like plugging in the chip tuner takes 8 hours... that's what people never show.
Your work really helped me to figure out what I am going to do to set up for autocross this year. Alignment. That's about it. Hope to see you around BH Farms maybe. |
Story of my life...
So, I got in my FR-S, pick up my girl on this beautiful Wednesday and proceed to drive to the beach for lunch. We get to the beach, and I can't seem to stop starring at her sunflower sundress, as it reaches just above her knees and shows her figure so sexy. "She's a beautiful gal," I think to myself and I'm a lucky sob to have her. So anyways, a security guards kicks us out of the beach around 8pm and so we drive to Santa Cruz. I pull onto Mitchel's cove beach (recommend it!) and it starts getting sexy in there. She somehow ends up on my lap, just barely fitting with me in driver seat, (I'm a husky dude/endomorphic) and we start getting it on for a few minutes. She tells me of how this dude at the gym tried spotting her on everything, even on the Treadmill, so she finally puts on this ring I bought for her in 8th grade as a b-day present so she can pretend to be married and we laugh it off, then I tell her about how the FR-S is a chastity belt, according to the forums here, and we both laugh again. So then, we get more into it, yaddeeeyadeeeyadaaa when suddenly, we realize the windows have half fogged up and its friggin cold (47 F/8.3C???) or so the FR-S tells us, and so....I turn the car on to warm us up for a little while. Baby making music starts playing and her eyes and mine meet, falling into a deep conversation, as we mutually agree in everything. Suddenly, I feel much more relaxed and I cant seem to get tired of her thighs rubbing on top of my legs even when they start going numb, when BAM!!!! I hit the damn accelerator till almost redline and my rev limiter bounces back (8?) making my exhaust (have TRD) sound like a damn fart cannon. Nonetheless... lost half my manhood there in the scare and she hit her head on the roof, then her forehead met my face and I now have a half bruised top of eye (brow ridge?). My car is jelly....oh so jelly. Man....after that happened, I just drove her home and we both laid there in complete silence for like 2 straight hours listening to damn NPR... Funny thing, this is the 2nd time this happens in 5yrs, except the first time we laughed so much, I almost pissed my pants in my old AE86. |
That's awesome!

@Dezoris So is this a temporary block or are you ready to move on from this platform?
I get this often since I started modding cars. Then something blissful comes along and your right back at it. |
nice video :)

My friend bought a brand new 2013 wrx a year ago, and it's been giving him nothing but problems(was bone stock) and the dealer didn't warranty any of the work. Push comes to shove, he ends up trading in the car and gets a 2014 frs! and is actually better off with payments with a lower interest rate. Sadly, he won't be able to mod for a while simply because he has no funds to. All money is going towards paying the car and helping out his mom. If I won the shift kit, I'd give it to him because #1:he deserves it, and #2 I'm already running it and know how great it is. If I won the brake rotors, I'd probably give them to another friend of mine who drifts his brz. He's running an angle kit in the front, and buying dual calipers in the rear for drifting. I'm sure he can use these rear rotors for that functional purpose. If you don't believe me and just think I'm trying to make up something, I can prove all of this to an extent. Just shoot me a PM lol

That's pretty awesome of you to do. I love this community.
