What torque dip?

Tune by Sav and your's truly

Same HP as previously (without tune), but the mid range is quite different won't you agree?
We can easily sqeez another 20HP by leaning out, but we made it quite rich (11.8) to aid in track days.
This tune is for UEL and 98.

LTFT = 0
STFL=0
AIM=0
FLKC=0

It's free for anybody that wants, yes, FREE! :w00t::cheers:

Thanks for @steve99 for the guidance

sav 03-17-2015 05:53 AM

"Game changer" :D

Ryan86 03-17-2015 05:54 AM

Now that's giving back to the community.
Nice work there..
98 = 95 + Liqui Molly octane booster?

BTW Powerflow are in final phase of testing there UEL header, overpipe and Performance exhaust, which I'm hearing all for under R10k.

You guys could become many 86 owners best friend.

sav 03-17-2015 06:02 AM

Always nice giving back, it is a small community after all.

Freedom 03-17-2015 06:15 AM

Fantastic :burnrubber: :bow:

Thank you @steve99 I heard you were extremely helpful and willing to share your knowledge.

Gotta ask - this was at the Reef and not at Sea Level??

sav 03-17-2015 07:26 AM

At the reef, yes.

BTW
A huge thanks to @steve99 I'm sure he's pulled at least half his hair out answering silly questions but he's been a great mentor explaining every little detail.

Wow, just proves yet again that the 86 community is the best by faaaar!

On a more concerning note, I now have to admit that an Aussie can do something right! @steve99 you rock!!!! :bow:

Any plans to do a 95 tune and non UEL guys?

Fish Eagle 03-17-2015 01:14 PM

Very cool :)

It should not be a big problem to work a el header tune to work on 95, They have one for stock header.

Somehow missed this post sorry. Yes, 95 EL tune coming very very soon, just busy with final testing.

95 EL tune is ready. The MAF sensors on these cars are all so different I don't understand how people can offer "one size fits all" tunes, best to at least do custom MAF scaling.

I have notified slight changes in maf and models if I remember in late 2014 had an ever so slight difference in scaling. I don't do one size fits all personally thiugh. The biggest difference between the cars is the filter. The dirt can collect in the center of the entry or at an edge and shift the air a bit giving a few % change in maf voltage. If you use the same filter between a few cars you'll notice more consistency. :D

That and different ethanol percentages in the fuel will give you w false sense. At least here in the U.S. anyway.

Interesting, thanks - will try using the same filter to log and see what's what. Might be a good idea to use a clean filter anyway for logging. Another problem here is that pretty much everybody are running different drop in filters which also throws a spanner into the works.

I don't think we've got ethanol in our fuel yet.

It looks like by October you should start seeing it. You'll typically see a little more LTFT at idle with the stock MAF calibration. 6-9% LTFT. If you tune the maf to 0% remember your shifting your engine load and thus shifting the ignition advance. As the fuel in my area averages E7 fairly consistently I actually use a basemap with a flex fuel map hard coded to 7% ethanol as my starting point.

PI/DI ratios idle stability and knock

@sav

you might try a couple of these tweaks to pi/di ratios
alter all three tables
cold/warm/hot the same

zero out the PI up to 0.2 load this is idle for manual, makes it idle smoother and you can drop your idle back to 700 or even 650 rpm.
doing that also stopped the idle dips when air conditioner kicks in as well.

On an auto zero out to 0.3 load as it idle at more load due torque converter

you might also try altering the rpm axis where is 5200 to 6000 so it runs full DI up to 6000 or even try 6500 as DI generally more knock resistant

seethe linked info below from moto mike about max pulse widths ect.

on E85 we are actually holding full DI to 7000 rpm.

I have also altered the values in the 2400 and 2800 rows to max of 25%

you might be able to put back a bit more ignition advance doing that.

Thanks Steve, will give it a try and report back.

Scarl3t 05-19-2015 07:42 AM

Hi Guys,

are you guys doing the same map work as @Damon was doing with Phoenix ?

if so can i get in on this action????

sav 05-19-2015 07:52 AM

Hi

Not sure what they're doing exactly but we've been working with @steve99 and we don't charge money for our maps.

Busy testing the direct injection tweaks with the 95 EL maps, will be ready soon, or we can load the "v1" map if you want.

We also don't have a "one size fits all" approach either so it involves loading the map then you need to do some miles to let the fuel trims settle, then we need to do some 3rd gear pulls for custom MAF scaling and then log some more later to confirm that all is running 100%.

What mods, filter, etc have you got?

Scarl3t 05-19-2015 08:33 AM

Hi SAV,

all stock... eish

sav 05-19-2015 08:42 AM

Cool, that makes it easier. :)

They mos did the launch control and flat foot shifting, as well as minimal torque dip

Yep, we've got launch control and flat foot shifting as well. As for the torque dip - check their graphs. ;)

The graph in the first post is with Borla UEL headers.

I'm in the same area. We need to hook up and bring @sav this side. You missed out on a good 86 dinner last night.

Ryan86 05-25-2015 10:49 AM

@sav time to make a trip to DBN, got a few guys for you

sav 05-25-2015 10:51 AM

Cool, but since I'm not charging money for the tunes, or even covering costs, they're going to have to come to me.
