Pictures of TRD Aero Stabilizing Cover???

Hey guys, I know there are pictures on Google, but I was hoping to see some of your own pictures of the TRD stabilizing cover. Here is what it looks like.

Does anyone on here have this?

They work fine for me. It's hosted on photobucket.

Ok, I see it now. For some reason it won't work on my phone.

What are your impressions of the piece? Is it good quality? How is the fitment? I worry about it being only held on by tape. Has it stayed in place over time? Would you buy it again if you had the option?

It's made by trd. It's good to go. Just follow the instructions.

Nothing wrong with getting a little feedback from someone who already owns the piece.

It's a nice addition.

Wyattkb 03-17-2015 05:28 AM

I hate you for showing me this useless part, that I now must have.

Mikey2style 03-17-2015 05:38 AM

Any install instructions?

I installed this part but it started rubbing on the trunk after a couple months so I took it off. It didn't rub at all when I first installed it and made sure it was centered.

Maybe it's because I didn't use any of the black spacers it comes with.
It even came with primer and rubbing alcohol...no idea what those were for.

I'm guessing the alcohol was for the window gasket that the cover attaches to. Any dirt or grime would prevent it from sticking fully.

I'm worried about the durability of the tape over time. I live in California and garage my car though, so it's not like it will be seeing extreme weather.

I wonder if anyone else has an issue with it rubbing like yours?

The part is great. Fitment is OEM quality as you can expect from TRD. Just follow the instructions and use the cleaner before you stick it on. It has stayed in place since.
I usually park in our area which are surrounded by trees. Without the cover, leaves and other crap get into the sides of the trunk area. Since I put it on, my inner trunk area never gets dirty. Yes I would buy it again.

The black foam spacers are centering tools to get the fitment spot on when the trunk is open and closed. If you just eyeball it, you may get the fitment off.

No rubbing at all for mine. I was lazy and had the dealer fit at a service.

We have a hole in the ozone layer above us so the sun, even though not as hot as in California, is very strong from a UV point of view and no issues with it and have had it installed for approx 16 months.

Mikey2style 03-17-2015 06:44 AM

I'm definitely gonna reinstall it again, but using the spacers. I guess what I did wrong was stick it to close to the trunk.

Anyway, for anyone purchasing this...don't eyeball it like I did or you'll have problems down the road.

How you took it off?
I did not perfect centralized at beginning.
However, I am worry that I will deform the plastic, if I put too much force
to take it out.
Thanks.

cant believe this is a thing for $200. i could maybe justify under $100 but thats insane

I found it for $150. Not too bad considering how much horsepower it adds.

Carlitoz3 03-17-2015 01:23 PM

I was also confused on how to install mine. I was in a hurry so I just slapped it on without the spacers. It does rattle a little, but since my exhaust is pretty loud, it doesn't bother me :)

Yours definitely looks too close to the trunk. Over time, it will droop down and start hitting the trunk when you open it from my experience.

And the sticky sided tape was easy to just rip off when I uninstalled mine, especially at the edges.

Cockatoo 03-24-2015 02:00 PM

I've been wanting to get this, I just wish they made a generic one that was half the cost.

For peeps that have this part, does the TRD logo look like it could be removed?

asdf 03-24-2015 02:20 PM

Damn, I thought this piece was CF for that cost... looks like it's not? :|

I think you should just throw it away. If you want, I'll take it to the trash for you. :D

Until then, I'll be waiting for a knock off. My BRZ can live w/o the TRD branding.

Here is mine. I let the dealer to install it since it's sort of OEM.

I'm glad it's glossy black. I've never been a fan of big pieces of carbon fiber unless it's a roof/trunk/hood.

At first I was all like "I want it even if useless" then read further and "Bingo, I can justify it to the wife"
Now the quest to find one in Canada that does not require a second mortgage on the house.

Does your password JDM rear deck cover rattle? I hate our huge 3rd brake light.

G-awesome 03-25-2015 02:26 PM

I want it...but can't justify the price for a piece of molded plastic with a TRD logo on it.

Luckily nope. But I installed it not as a cover (not sure it's actually possible to put it on top of the stock shelf) but as a replacement of the stock shelf. It required a lot of handwork as it's just a piece of carbon without any clips or other stuff for installation. You need to cut it from the stock one and glue to the Password JDM piece. So if you also add enough of absorbing material everywhere where it touches other objects, it sits tight and doesn't rattle. So, not a bolt-on thing at all!

Maybe we can get a vendor to make a reproduction version...

chaoskaze 06-16-2015 07:37 PM

Can someone please get Bayson R to make these, so I don't have to clean the leaf & twig in my trunk anymore?

Ya...there is a giant Tree right outside my garage..

MalcolmHimself 06-16-2015 07:51 PM

Man, that would be pretty nice without the TRD branding.

Kostamojen 06-16-2015 11:10 PM

I dont think a replica will be any cheaper than these are right now. I just paid $130 on Japanparts for this.

That's insane. This looks like a piece of fiberglass that gets double sided tapped down. Shouldn't cost more than $60 in my opinion.

You must not know much about bodywork pricing.

Vroomin86 06-17-2015 02:05 AM

It's JDM Yo! Gotta pay to play. I would but no point, I rather save up a little longer and get the louvers.

I don't. But it still looks like it could be molded and reproduced fairly easily to me. I really don't care to pay TRD tax for a gap filler to keep leaves and junk out.
